tao_ ([info]tao_) wrote,
He heard him before he saw him. He'd even known he had come in wolf form. His nose wrinkling slightly at the sound of heavy breathing, panting, and him doing who knows what in the brush. He didn't want to think on it. While some shifters seemed capable of still behaving like civilized beings, some seemed to sink into the beast and unfortunately, those were typically the stronger ones. He would be surprised to hear anything other then grunts and yips in the conversation to come.

Allowing a few moments for him to, gods he hoped, shift back to human, Tao pushed off of the car and walked to stand a few feet in front of the hood. He didn't bother to disguise his appraising look as he took the man in. Under other circumstances, he might be impressed. For a shifter he didn't even smell. Well, at least not the wet dog smell, that rolling around in things you really shouldn't smell. He smelled only of forest, and dirt, but clean dirt. Yes, he knew the difference between clean dirt and dead, musty dirt. Even if he hadn't had to sleep in it for longer then the shifter, man, in front of him had been alive.

He didn't have to wait long for him to speak, and when he did, Tao's eyes darkened and he raised a brow. Vampire? Someone hadn't learned etiquette. Not that he was surprised. He was built and even his hands showed use, giving him the distinct impression that even were he not part of the pack, his human life led him to be a man capable and enjoying the work with his hands. What did they call them? Earthy men? Of the Earth? Ah well, not important.

He shook his head but instead of offering his hand, since they were seemingly going formal, at least by animal standards, he put his hands in his pockets. "I am quite aware of who you are, and your recent rise to power. I would say congratulations are in order, but truthfully, I liked Dean. He was, malleable." He smiled. "Your elders do you a disservice, this is not how you request a meeting. Also, I have a name, pup."

Respect was a big thing, in either of their circles. He wasn't about to allow things to begin with that kind of greeting. If this ended up being nothing more then his attempt at showing his new power and seeing if Tao would bend, he was wasting his time.
