Riley didn't get to Tao's house at the time he wanted to, for two reasons. One, because he wasn't exactly given to being punctual, and two, because he had overestimated his speed with the load that he was carrying in his human form. The large black garbage bag's contents were too big to balance on the great wolf's back. He could have managed it as a horse or a bear, but those animals would invite unwanted suspicion or fear on the road. People were used to wolves in this area, but not bears bearing trash bags. So Riley had it slung across his broad human shoulders, which was just fine, he was faster than the average human by far, but he was slower than he could be.
He leaped onto the first step to the front door from ten feet away, just to prove to himself that he could. He had forgotten just how inefficient the human body was compared to the wolf for running long distances. When he straightened up, he felt his knees crack. It wasn't painful, just annoying. That had never happened when he was still in his twenties. He hefted the bag up over to his left shoulder and then raised a hand to knock at the door. Fortunately for Tao's humans, he was dressed this time, in jeans and a plaid button-down, with no shoes.
"Present for Tao." He said sarcastically as the door opened.
