Riley felt that something between them had just changed. He thought that there was something he ought to say, but something else inside him wouldn't yet let him. The loss of the soft sound of Tao's breath seemed monumental, and all of the sudden the room was silent except for Riley's own breathing. It felt like death had swept into the room. Riley licked his upper lip and pushed just enough to put space between their bodies, though their arms and legs were still tangled. But the contact was purely physical now, and the dreamy look had gone out of Riley's eyes. He took a hold of one of Tao's wrists and brought it to his lips. He rolled back onto his front and pushed himself up, pressing kisses up the inside of Tao's arm.
