"You're awfully squishy to have such a mouth on you-" Riley began, his shoulders tensing, ready to step towards the woman, but then she mentioned having read up on Tao, and the anger in Riley's eyes was quickly replaced with confusion. He looked at the vampire sideways and frowned. Riley did not take a step back, he wouldn't give the human woman that, but he did step sideways, towards Tao. "I'm going back to the woods, I'll let you know what they say." He fell silent, wanting to say more, but not willing to do so, especially not with the human woman in the room.
He surged forward and pushed past Marie, passing through the doorway and into the bedroom. He undressed quickly and left the clothes folded on the dresser, and shifted into the great golden wolf. That accomplished, he bounded out of the bedroom, out of the safehouse, and out of the city as fast as his legs would take him.
