"He's not one of mine, but-" Riley swallowed. The expression in his eyes was almost afraid, certainly apprehensive. His gaze followed Tao, his skin tingled with every word the vampire spoke. He could feel the tension in the air between them, the animal instinct in him was flight, not fight. The vampire was presenting an option that was strange and unnatural. Ever since they had discussed it that one amazing night, Riley had tried to put those thoughts away in some small corner of his mind as a tantalizing thought that he didn't dare to entertain. But now it seemed that Tao was determined to bring it up again.
"I don't want you do kill the pup-" Riley said, his brows furrowed, looking to Tao as if begging the other man to throw him some sort of life line. When he couldn't get to Tao, there was the pup, the young, lithe warrior that Riley 'wrestled' with in the woods when time permitted. His mate was pregnant again, his own pups were growing strong. Their defenses were built up and there hadn't been a killing in a few weeks. They were closing in on the humans who threatened them. "Tao- you want us to-" He looked to the chained up pup, and then turned away from him, head bowed.
"I don't know." He said, "I don't know if I could. It was alright when it was just a fantasy when we were in bed together. But this?" This was real. "I don't know." He repeated. "This will only make trouble. You should just let me kill him now."
