It was a grey area. Then again, everything was a grey area. There were differing levels of what was acceptable, of what was allowed. They were constantly skirting it. It was the same with breaking someone. There were ways to make it pleasurable, there were ways to break not just the body but the spirit. To kill the life in someone's eyes.
"I don't pretend to understand all your pack laws. However, I knew that death was the only option when he explained he was not pack. Which, was a shame. Marcus was impressed with him. Until he broke his nose." He added with a shrug. If he'd been shifter he might have known immediately that the pup did not belong to anyone, but Tao had found it odd that he had been as well behaved as he had been. He'd expected a packless shifter to be, wild. Barely human.
Tao didn't glance back to the chained pup, easily dismissing him from his mind as he turned to Riley. Raising a hand to the nape of his neck he let fingers work at the cords there. "I am not suggesting you torture the boy. There are levels to everything and a way to keep another for your own purposes, your own pleasure, that don't kill their spirit or mind. I am leaving it to you."
He licked along Riley's bottom lip. "I don't personally think he deserves death for being unfortunate enough to not have a pack or family of his own. However, it's not my decision. He's yours, let me show you how to use him, train him. If you dislike it, what's to stop you from killing him later? There are things that you can not submit to and neither can I, even if we want to. Let him stay here, and be a proxy for those things. And perhaps I'll forget about your pup running with you where I can not go."
