His arm flexed––he had been about to pull his arm out of the vampire's reach out of reflex alone. When it became obvious that Tao only meant to undo the bandage, Wolfram sighed and held still for the vampire. "The challenges haven't started, yet." Why the growl in his voice? Wolfram tugged on the piece of gauze the bandage had been holding in place to reveal three stitched up gashes. They were still fresh. "Siegfried ran away when I challenged him for his position, but he was waiting for me when I left the nest." A sardonic smile; "It's his way of accepting the challenge, I suppose. It's not serious." It was as serious as the couple of claw wounds he had sustained in the past few years, as the white scars skittering down his chest and a side of his back showed. He would live. It didn't even hurt much, really.
"I don't plan to die during these challenges." He crumpled the rectangle of stained gauze in his hand and then pulled his arm gently from the vampire's hand. "And we're stopping at the second mark." He straightened, then changed the subject entirely, "Where do you want to take blood from?"
