Sterling has brown hair with hazel eyes. He's of average height and built. He has a star tattoo on both wrists and wants to get a larger version on his back at some point. He has a few couple of other tattoos.
Sterling does not like to wear suits but he owns a couple for bank meetings. Not that he has those a lot. Typically, he likes to wear jeans and tshirts or button up shirts. He's also really fond of sweaters. He rather wear a sweater more than a winter coat. Thankfully, his current location does not require a winter coat.

Sterling is resilient. It said so on all his report cards; Sterling focuses on his work until it done, even to the point that he will attempt to miss recess if not completely. Sterling does not like to be interrupted when working on a project. (Hurrah for undiagnosed ADHD?)
Sterling is typically pretty easy going. He doesn't like making scenes. He rather keep his emotions/ feelings/ thoughts to himself until he can process it properly. That does mean, however, sometimes, things don't get processed and he says he'll deal with it later.

Death kept a hand on Sterling’s shoulder from the moment he was born. Born early, the doctor wasn’t sure if Sterling would make it. After spending several months in the hospital, Sterling was sent home. Yet Death lingered with Sterling. When Sterling was little, he would stare at corners when nothing was there. He also had a sense of when people were sick. The family would never forget when he predicted Aunt Sophia’s cancer before she was diagnosed. His family suspected Sterling had life magic. They were excited; the family hadn’t had a life witch in several generations. Their coven put life witches in charge so they were excited for the chance to have a slice of power.
Sterling was taught for life magic. He wasn’t great at it. He could sense illness but trying to heal people felt out of his gasp. He could tell his family was frustrated, especially as he became a teenager and his magic became more mature. They all seemed to ignore how Sterling could do other things. Or maybe he tried to keep some of it hidden, like the time he sat with Uncle Stephen and he seemed to help confront him as he passed. Or how he could converse with spirits. Maybe it was a combination of both.
Either way, it was a blow to his family when the current coven leader declined to have Sterling as a part of the leadership, claiming that he was not powerful enough. His parents were disappointed and while they acted like they weren’t, Sterling knew they were. He also knew his magic was elsewhere than being a healer. He didn’t admit that he felt relieved. He could focus on other things than studying magic that wasn’t his specialty. He could focus on what he was good with.
The business started in university. It was simple things at first; selling candles to help clear the air, to cleanse a space and boost emotions. Then he started selling charms to ward off bad energy. He also sold charms to help with exams and homework but they were mostly bullshit. Word got out and the business expanded. Word also got out that Sterling was “psychic” and people would come to him ask questions. It felt like he was taking advantage of the spirits but they didn’t seem to mind. If they did, they would tell him.
After university, he continued with the business. He began to hit up fairs and festivals with his own little table. He made enough money to support himself and he was happy.
Sterling liked to travel. He liked visiting places with history and hearing the stories that weren’t told by tour guides. This time he decided to go south; vacation by the beach and ocean. It was there he met Gage, a very tattooed warlock. Needless to say, that first night? There wasn’t much talking between them. It was very hot, very sexy and Sterling felt very good. The rest of the trip, they spent together; more physical than not but fun all the same. At the end of the trip, they said goodbye and Sterling thought that would be it. If he was honest, he was curious to know Gage better but he knew that long distance relationships didn’t work. Besides, Gage owned his own business, as did Sterling, so there was that was that. Their relationship had been spicy and hot and over.
He was surprised as anything when his next job brought to the doorstep of a tattoo parlour and Gage’s front door. It turned out there was no need for long distance. There was an awkward dinner after and they decided to try dating. Dating Gage was wonderful. The sex was still amazing and Sterling liked learning about Gage. Even if Gage was haunted. Yet the longer they dated, the more they fought. Sure, make up sex was still great but in the end their last fight was ugly.
Sterling took the opportunity to leave. He could travel to different cities with his business and he figured it was time. He packed up and left Gage a note and left. He figured Gage agreed; they weren’t working and it was best just to leave. So he left.
Sterling travelled all over the country, sometimes going into Canada or having special trips to Europe. Life was good. He was currently single but that’s okay. One day he’ll find someone. Or not. He was okay.
