Roland Deschain | ||
FULL NAME: Roland Deschain NICKNAMES/ALIASES: N/A SERIES/FANDOM: The Dark Tower AGE/DATE OF BIRTH: 14/Unknown ,it's sometime early winter. GENDER: Male SPECIES: Human SEXUALITY: Heterosexual ALIGNMENT: Good HOUSING: Random OCCUPATION: Weapons? Gun safety instructor? |
||
Abilities | ||
Roland has recently passed his test to become a gunslinger, and as such has become a man in his world. As a gunslinger, Roland is exceedingly handy with a gun - he never misses, can hit moving targets with ease, and can do crazy things like blowing guns out of peoples' hands. Being a gunslinger is a spiritual as well as a law-enforcement sort of thing, they're really more like knights than cowboys. |
||
Weaknesses | ||
Roland, despite his skill with weapons, is human, and can be injured or killed. He can also obsessive, taciturn, and very cold when it comes to doing what he has to do to reach his goal. As a youth he's also quite impetuous at times. He's also been raised to expect a certain amount of respect - he's not egotistical or conceited, he's just proud of what he was raised to be and expects to be treated with the consideration due his position. He also rather lacks imagination, and tends to take things very literally instead of seeing a more abstract picture. |
||
Personality | ||
Roland may be only fourteen years old, but when it comes to the strength of his personality, that means absolutely nothing. He is brave, driven, and can be ice-cold (and absolutely terrifying) in pursuit of his goals. Pragmatic, and lacking much in the way of imagination, Roland sees the world as it is, and takes things as they are. He has very little in the way of a sense of humor, although what little he has tends to show up at unexpected times. In contrast to this, Roland is also deeply romantic. Romance is a part of the world he holds as fact, not something he obsesses over. He's not a poet singing love songs, but he believes deeply in love and in honor, nobility, and loyalty as hard facts, as solid as the grips of his guns. When he falls in love with Susan, he falls completely, and the girl he falls in love with at fourteen is the only real love of his life. While Roland feels, and feels deeply, he is not one to wear his heart on his sleeve. He can appear somewhat impassive, even cold at times. But this is not a lack of emotion - far from it - but rather a refusal (or an inability?) to share his emotions with those around him. He is a man (boy?) of few words, and doesn't waste them. He says what he thinks, and holds his own council, rarely speaking in depth about things even to his closest friends. Roland is a born leader, and takes (or is given) control even when he himself has no desire to take it. Although he acknowledges that he is far from the smartest member of his ka-tet, it is his nobility, strength, and grace under pressure that win him this position (not to mention that at this point he's the only one who's a tried and true gunslinger). |
