In Character
Name: Loki Laufeyson
Alias (if any): God of Mischief and Lies
DOB & Age: Really, really old
Species: Frost Giant (Raised as an Asgardian)
Fandom and Canon point: Marvel Cinimatic Universe, brought from the end of The Avengers movie.

Personality: To put it bluntly, Loki is a manipulative bastard. It's something that he does without thinking now, although he has no reason to stop. He's an adept wordsmith of the worst variety, and is good at influencing the actions of others through what he says. He's still likely to play tricks on people whenever given the opportunity, but he doesn't take advantage of pranks as much these days.

Loki, however, has things going on beneath all the manipulative dickishness that, if someone could dig through all the levels of anger, others would find that Loki nurses something of a serious inferiorty complex. He grew up as the second son, always feeling like he didn't belong in his home. When he learned years later that he was adopted, it basically reinforced every belief that he'd ever had. He had been treated differently for a reason. It was something that drove him to make completely insane decisions, like eventually aligning himself with the being known to some as Thanos.

What Loki really wishes for is to be acknowledged as an equal to Thor (which he'll do anything he thinks will get) and to gain acceptance from someone. He just has...the worst ways of going about that.

History: Loki was born to the Frost Giant Laufey, but, as he wasn't of giant size, Laufey left him to the elements to die. However, he was discovered by Odin, ruler of Asgard, at the end of a great battle between Asgard and Jotunheim. Odin thought that a Frost Giant baby raised by him could one day serve to bridge the gap between Asgard and Jotumheim. Odin raised Loki as his own son, bringing him up along with his older child, Thor.

Loki grew up feeling inferior next to Thor, as everyone deferred more to him as the elder son and the assumed future ruler of Asgard. However, he funneled these feelings into pranks that he would pull on others mostly, getting his revenge in less noticible (most of the time) ways. However, as he grew older, he played less childish pranks (although he would sitll use them for a good laugh), instead using his ability to manipulate others to vent out his agressions toward people. It was after playing a 'prank' that allowed for three frost giants to get into Asgard during Thor's corrunation that he used his manipualtive abilities to get Thor to try a disasterous invasion of Jotunheim. He did it more for his personal amusement than anything, and was genuinely surprised when his father banished Thor. He even tried to stop him, although he was quickly silenced.

After Thor's banishment was when he learned of his true parentage, and grew truly angry with his father for dropping the truth of his birth onto him and then going into the Odinsleep, allowing for him to not have to truly answer for his actions. Now it was Loki, rather than Thor, that was king of Asgard. He refused to undo his brother's banishment, instead setting up things so that more frost giants would get into Asgard, Laufey himself would try and slay Odin, but then he would be in place to save Odin and kill Laufey, proving himself to be the more worthy son.

He even sent The Destroyer to keep Thor and his friends distracted long enough so that he could accomplish this. However, Thor defeated The Destroyer when he gained his own abilities back, showing up in Asgard just in time for Loki to turn the powers of the Rainbow Bridge onto Jotunheim, intent upon destroying the entire realm. During an epic battle with his brother, Thor had to destroy the bridge, knocking both brother off of the bridge, only to be caught by Odin. When Loki sought out the acceptance he so desperately needed and was turned away again, he let go, allowing himself to slip into the abyss.

After he fell away, he languished alone for what felt like an eternity until he was finally found by the 'Mad Titan' known as Thanos, who gave him the power of the Tesseract in the form of a sceptor, and then was promised to rule over Midgard (Earth) in exchange for bringing the Tesseract back to Thanos. He had no real intention of giving the Tesseract back to Thanos, instead planning to use its power to destroy the titan as well, but there were kinks in that plan.

While he understood that Midgard had something of its own protectors, he didn't realize the power that they held. He thought that it would be nothing to take down the group known as SHIELD who held the Tesseract and, when Clint Barton warned him that Fury would put together a team to take the Tesseract back, he thought that they would be easily overcome. They were not, though. They were not an easy defeat at all. He was quite angry that a group of six (with the help of a very large bomb) were able to defeat his army, but it seemed that way.

He was taken away from Midgard in a gag and handcuffs...only to wake up back in New York unchained and free. He has decided that he'll figure out just who is responsible for this a bit later, as now he just appriciates the freedom.

Previous Game History: N/A

Abilities & Talents: Along with his natural ability to manipulate others, Loki's prowress with magic seems to know few bounds. He trained with it from an early age, and showed a natural affinity for it. He can create multiple copies of himself, create illusions strong enough to fool other people, teleport, and give himself the ability to fly if necessary. He can also cast spells and shapeshift.

He has the abilities of a frost giant, able to conjure up ice at will, but it is something that he is loathe to use, and will only do so under the most dire of circumstances. He also has accellerated healing, strength, agility, and endurance far beyond that of a mortal.

He also posesses a genius level of intelect, putting him lightyears ahead of just about anyone on earth, IQ wise.

Weaknesses: Loki's biggest weakness is himself. He will always be his own undoing. He suffers from a deep seated slef-hatred due to learning of his true heritage, and it's that self hatred that is starting to drive him completely insane. Along with his need to be seen to be as good as his brother, it's his own demons that will always be Loki's downfall.
