His mother calls him Ronnie sometimes, Ickle Ronniekinz by the twins, Hermione called him the Master of Mystery once, but really Ron does just fine Age: 25 Birthday: 1st March, 1980 Blood Status: Pureblood Creature Status: Human House/Year: Gryffindor, 1991-1997, never returned to Hogwarts for his seventh year family/relationships Mother: Molly Weasley, nee Prewett (Pureblood) Father: Arthur Weasley (Pureblood) Siblings: Bill Weasley Sister-in-law: Fleur Weasley, nee Delacour Niece: Victoire Weasley Niece: Dominique Weasley Charlie Weasley Percy Weasley Fred Weasley – d. 2nd May, 1998 George Weasley Niece: Natalie Ginny Weasley Children: None Extended Family: His extended family is wonderfully large and eccentric, just like his close family, and he sees them at all the family occasions he’s expected to attend, and does so quite dutifully, though he is often found grumbling. Great Aunt Muriel is always good for a laugh. He’s distantly related to quite a number of the Pureblood families – the Malfoys, the Lestranges, the now extinct Blacks, and is quite possibly related to many more but it isn’t something he cares to dwell on – most of them are purists tits, in his opinion, and the less contact he has with them the better. Friends: Ron is friends with mostly Gryffindors – his yearmates, his Quidditch teammates, nearly his whole family were Gryffindors. They’re comfortable, he can trust them, and it means that he really hasn’t had to put too much effort into making new friends because he has this safety blanket of people that he’s known for years. Of course, he does have friends from other houses, but he definitely views them differently simply for having been sorted into other houses, often making quite ignorant judgements based on stereotypes. Ravenclaws are stuffy nerds, Hufflepuffs are silly duffers and Slytherins are evil pricks. The DA broadened his ideas on that quite a bit, and he’s still friends with those people, but he’s not particularly open-minded so he takes a long time to warm up to people. If they have a sense of humour, support a worthwhile Quidditch team, don’t spout Purist drivel and seem a generally okay sort of person, Ron will be open to friendship. Sexuality: Heterosexual Significant Other: Hermione Granger living arrangement and occupation Location: TBD Current Residence: Subject to discussion with Hermione's player Occupation: Auror Occupation History: Instead of returning to Hogwarts to complete his studies, Ron worked with his brother George at Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes in an attempt to keep him company and help run the store. It didn’t feel right to have to go back to school; he felt he was too old to bother with that, and he spent the time looking out for his grieving family and helping with the post-war rebuilding efforts. Sometimes he regrets not going back for that seventh year. But due to his war experiences, he and Harry were quickly accepted into the Auror training programme, and Ron really enjoyed the job, partnered up with an older Auror who showed him the ropes well. He’s been a proper Auror now for over five years, and holds some authority within the department due to his National Treasure status but with best friends like Harry Potter and Hermione Granger, as well as being a pureblood, Ron has been finding it very difficult to sophisticatedly navigate the Ministry waters and hold his tongue. He knows the job he has is useful, but treading the fine line of pretending to not be anti-Ministry is pushing him to his very limits and he’s not sure how much longer he can manage it. Class: Working class. The Weasley family have never been particularly wealthy, despite his parents’ best efforts. He nearly always wore hand-me-downs, and most of his toys, books and possessions were already used and frayed by the time they reached him. The Burrow was a teetering, only-held-up-by-magic building that was cluttered and jumbled, but ultimately cosy, and Ron did have his own room, albeit small. Now he’s moved out and has a comfortable salary, Ron isn’t as poor as he used to be. He likes buying new things and isn’t very clever about saving, but he’s got Hermione to remind him to do that. politics Loyalty/Alliance: Order, Dumbledore's Army, Anti-Ministry Status: Registered Pureblood, National Treasure Political Views: Ron doesn’t care about blood purity, he barely thinks of himself as a pureblood, and it’s due to his parents’ beliefs on the subject: that it doesn’t matter. Ron knows that they fell in love regardless of the purity of their blood and that is the important part. He’s not at all knowledgeable of muggles and their inventions and world, but not quite as curious as his father, and can sometimes be ignorant about them, but it isn’t prejudice, it’s naiveté. As most wizards are, Ron was terrified of werewolves when he was younger. They peppered children’s stories and WWN dramas as the bad guys and he didn’t know any better. It was only meeting Remus Lupin and discovering that werewolves were actually wizards with an unfortunate affliction that he realised they weren’t the monsters he’d believed. Now it irritates him that people think any different, though he can understand that they haven’t had the same eye-opening experience that he did. Other beings and ‘beasts’, as he’s realised require the apostrophes thanks to Hermione, like house elves and veelas and half-breeds, Ron has had the associating experiences with each kind and he’s fine with them, and has learned enough to know that whatever you are, whatever your blood, none of it matters as long as you’re a decent person with morals. Working in the Ministry has been tough recently. He doesn’t agree with the majority of their laws and decrees and finds it difficult to hold his tongue. They announced that purebloods were mentally unstable, placed fines on having pureblooded children – his parents would never have been able to afford to have just one of them, never mind seven. They branded his friends and hunt them down for rightly resisting the injustice, and Ron wants to help bring Diggory down as quickly as possible. Separating students into schools based on their family or blood isn’t right, a Magical Army, cruel and unusual interrogation styles, no rights to speak freely… it’s all something he wishes to help get rid of, and he’ll do whatever it takes to do so. But outwardly, he has to maintain the appearance that he understands their viewpoint and wishes to fall in line, and while he’s not very good at it, he does his job well and he hasn’t been publicly outspoken against the Ministry. appearance Definitely a Weasley, Ron’s hair is the flaming red his whole family has, and he often forgets to have it cut so it sometimes grows to untidy lengths. Like his father and some of his brothers, he’s tall, standing at nearly 6’3”, and though he used to be lanky as a teenager, he has bulked up in the intervening years with the help of Quidditch practices and Auror training. He stands tall, grown used to his towering height and uses it to his full advantage when he’s angry or proud, and is prone to flexing his muscles aggressively when he feels he needs to. Ron tends to wear his emotions on his sleeve, and his body language is easily read by anyone. When he’s depressed or tired, he slumps and drags his feet. Embarrassed or annoyed, his face and neck and even ears blush darkly, the freckles that dust his long nose and cheeks almost disappearing under the spread of red. Facial hair has been a much welcomed side-effect of growing up, and he prides himself on wearing a healthy scruff. The mustache he tried that one time shouldn’t ever be mentioned, he’s pretty sure he found and destroyed all the photo evidence. A typical wizard, his fashion sense is usually horribly mismatched, something he can no longer blame on inheriting his older brothers’ wardrobes, and though he likes his smart Auror robes, he found he couldn’t exactly get away with wearing them all the time. Jeans are a favourite because they’re comfortable, and despite his grumbles about his mother’s knitted jumpers, he keeps every one and finds them very useful. T-shirts and Chudley Cannons jerseys make up the rest of his wardrobe, with one smart set of formal robes buried in the back for special occasions – no ruffles, thank you very much. personality Wand: 14 inches, willow, unicorn hair Boggart: Hermione and Harry mocking him, still. He knows it’s stupid. Patronus: Jack Russell Terrier Likes: Quidditch, chess, lazing around, food, praise, recognition, Chudley Cannons, WWN, his family Dislikes: Shopping, reading, Slytherins, change, paperwork, purism, spiders, pranks Strengths: Bravery, loyalty, strategic mind, bold, Defence Against the Dark Arts, duelling, offensive and defensive magic, protective, funny, impersonation Weaknesses: Short temper, some insecurity, insensitivity, reckless, stubborn, moody, reading body language, lying Detailed Personality: He’s almost a stereotypical Gryffindor: brave to the point of reckless, impulsive, bold and stubborn. He will jump into situations without necessarily thinking of the consequences, speaking before his mind has kicked into gear, and though it may be for reasons he thinks are right and just, he can sometimes be too outspoken and argumentative. It doesn’t help that he generally has a short temper and is easily provoked. Age has given him the edge on that, the ability to control his anger somewhat, but it’s still something that tests him and that he occasionally cannot help but lose control on. Despite not being a teenage boy ruled by his hormones anymore, Ron hasn’t matured entirely yet. He’s still prone to bouts of moodiness, becoming sullen or snappy, but he is capable of reining it in. Part of passing his Auror training was even reliant on the fact that he could focus those defensive and childish tendencies. It is possible that some of his aggression stems from underlying insecurities; not intelligent enough, not wealthy enough, not talented or popular enough, undoubtedly due to the accomplishments of his older brothers and best friend. And he’s sometimes easily embarrassed when these perceived flaws are exploited or poked, making him defensive. The fact of the matter is he is a clever person, but his brains are displayed more by a strategic mind, his straight-forward way of thinking often belying the amount of thought he might put into what he’s doing or saying. A naturally funny bloke, or so he thinks, Ron’s humour sometimes strays into insensitive territory because he’s slightly emotionally immature; he isn’t often aware of how someone else is feeling unless they wear their emotions on their sleeves like he does. He doesn’t often pick up on the subtleties of body language, and relies on his Auror partner to pick up on them during interrogations. He’s protective, loyal to those he loves and are close to him brought about by his family-oriented upbringing, and is more of a natural leader than he showed promise for when he was a teenager, his confidence having grown since then. Ron has a heart of gold lying underneath his hot-headed, defensive, silly exterior, and he may be sensitive of that sometimes, but it’s there. history The sixth child and last son born to Arthur and Molly Weasley, Ron was surrounded by family and the sort of domestic chaos that would typically come from living under one roof with six other children, not to mention the added element of magic that only intensified the business of his childhood. He was born at the height of the First Wizarding War, and though he never knew them, the family suffered the loss of his twin uncles, Fabian and Gideon Prewett before Voldemort was defeated by the baby Harry Potter. Ron grew up with the stories of the Boy Who Lived, never imagining that he would ever meet the famous lad. Growing up in that time of peace, looking back, Ron is incredibly grateful for such a calm time to grow up in. He played with Bill and Charlie, or more accurately bugged them as the little toddler he was, on their school holidays, tried to avoid Fred and George’s boisterous pranks though he was a perfect target, occasionally asked questions of his nerdy brother Percy, but mostly found his time spent with his little sister, Ginny, so close in age that they were. Their family was not at all well-off, their parents struggling and making do, hand-me-downs and homemade items a frequent occurrence. The Weasley children learned how to make their own fun; flying in the field behind the house, tackling the garden gnomes, playing amongst themselves. Whenever they ventured out, they were sometimes looked upon with disdain or pity, and Ron began to pick up on this as he grew more aware, becoming both fiercely protective of his family against the likes of the Malfoys, and unfortunately embarrassed at the same time. Getting to go off to Hogwarts couldn’t have come a moment too soon. Waiting to attend the place his brothers came back from with fantastic stories every summer was torturous for an envious Ron, and he was positively buzzing with excitement to finally board the Hogwarts Express on September 1st. Rather coincidentally, he met The Harry Potter on the train before they’d even arrived and found it incredibly easy to get along with the famous boy. When Harry bought a heap of snacks from the food trolley, Ron knew he was sure to be a good friend. They were sorted into the same house, Gryffindor, just like the rest of his family, and they spent much of the year facing down the bullying Draco Malfoy and Professor Snape, becoming fast friends in the process. Unfortunately, the swotty know-it-all Hermione Granger they’d met on the train overheard him insulting her at Halloween and sent her running off in tears. He never expected that night to face down a troll, or lie to their professors, or come away best friends with Hermione, but they did. And they have been ever since. The whole business with the Philosopher’s Stone worried him a little once they discovered Quirrell was a Voldemort supporter, but he was a Gryffindor and with the Boy Who Lived. He had faith they could do it, and using his talent for Wizard’s Chess, he helped his friends move on to the Stone. They successfully protected it, and managed to defeat Quirrell, and even won enough House Points between them to help Gryffindor win the House Cup for the first time in a long while. He went home with a great feeling of pride and fantastic stories of his own to regale his family with that summer. After not hearing from Harry the whole summer, Ron and the twins decided to hijack their father’s spelled Ford Anglia and fly to Harry’s house to rescue him. It didn’t go down well with his mother, but at least they’d got Harry away from his awful Muggle relatives. Because of Dobby, they missed the train to school, but with the help of the Ford Anglia, they arrived mostly safely, crashing into the Whomping Willow and nearly killing themselves. His wand broke in the crash and caused him problems all year. That year the Chamber of Secrets unleashed a monster that petrified students both literally and figuratively, and it was perhaps only the trio’s investigation into the attacks that kept Ron from being very scared. They drank Polyjuice that year, faced Acromantulas despite his fear of the insects, lost Hermione to the hospital wing for a period of time that Ron had peculiar feelings about that extended beyond normal worry for his friend, then ended up descending into the Chamber to rescue his little sister. Though he got stuck with an amnesiac Lockhart while Harry continued on to defeat the basilisk and Tom Riddle, Harry managed to save the day and Ginny. Hermione was revived and they could all breathe clearly again. That summer, the Weasleys won the Daily Prophet Grand Prize Galleon Draw, and they went on holiday to Egypt to visit Bill. Ron tried to make sure Ginny was okay after her ordeal of a first year, but he was never sure she wasn’t pretending. It was nice to leave the country for once though, see the Pyramids. It was that summer the notorious criminal Sirius Black escaped from Azkaban, and with Harry the assumed target, the castle was surrounded by Dementors that sucked the warmth out of the usual cosiness of Hogwarts. That year felt like the beginning of darker times, and Ron found the new Defence Against the Dark Arts professor, Lupin, to be excellent and a welcome addition after the pathetic Quirrell and Lockhart. They actually learned useful spells for once. They worked to defend Buckbeak, Hagrid’s ‘dangerous’ Hippogriff that had attacked Malfoy, and he and Hermione went on Hogsmeade trips together. But their friendship was fraught with tension throughout the year; Hermione’s cat attacked Ron’s rat, they fought over nearly everything including the appearance of Harry’s Firebolt, and he noticed that she seemed to disappear at strange times only to appear seconds later. With the added fright of Sirius Black appearing over his bed with a knife, and the ensuing fame from the incident, it drove them apart with bickering. It was only when Hagrid told them that Hermione was struggling with her workload that they managed to patch things up. True to form, the end of the year was full of drama. Scabbers became Peter Pettigrew, Sirius wasn’t a murderous criminal, and Professor Lupin was a werewolf. Ron’s leg was broken that night too, but the revelations were shocking enough. He missed the saving of Buckbeak and Sirius, kept up in the Hospital Wing, and felt some envy over that. The next school year would go on to test that jealous streak of his. Summer ’94 gave them the Quidditch World Cup, which Ron was incredibly excited to attend, inviting Harry and Hermione along for the event that was to be held in Britain for the first time in years. He got to watch his idol, Viktor Krum play, before Death Eaters attacked the camp site and sent up a Dark Mark. The year became even more fantastic when they discovered that Hogwarts was to host the Triwizard Tournament that year, inviting students from Beauxbatons and Durmstrang to stay, and Ron didn’t know what to be more thrilled about – Veelas or Viktor Krum. The excitement was further intensified by the new DADA professor, ‘Mad-Eye’ Moody, who was crazy and known for being an awesome Auror. When Harry was chosen as a Triwizard Champion, Ron was immediately furious for the perceived betrayal of his best friend, as well as the under-the-surface envy of his fame and fortune, and after an argument, they stopped speaking for a time, instead socialising with his older brothers. It was only after the First Task, and realising the danger the Champions were in during the tournament, that Ron believed Harry’s denial of adding his name to the Goblet, and they made up. Just in time to attend the Yule Ball, which Ron tried to find a date for before asking Hermione at the last second in his typical insensitive way. He and Harry did find dates in the Patil twins, but it was a disastrous evening, only worsened when he saw Hermione and Viktor Krum together, confused again by his strong feelings, and they fought terribly about it. They were still friends, and Ron put his jealousy down to how much he idolised Krum, but he knew there was something more to it with Hermione. In the second task, Ron was Harry’s hostage, and though he missed watching the task, the kiss from Fleur Delacour more than made up for it. And though he and Hermione had helped Harry research useful spells and practice them for the final task, nothing could have prepared them for the return of Voldemort and the murder of Cedric Diggory. He did not doubt Harry’s tale in the slightest, and was really annoyed by anyone’s suggestion that his best friend wasn’t telling the truth. The news hit them hard, and though Ron was surrounded by friends and family, he still felt fear at the idea that the Dark Lord was back, his followers were flocking back to his side and that the Second Wizarding War was beginning. With Voldemort’s rise to power and the attacks from Death Eaters on the wizarding public, the Order of the Phoenix was reconvened and gathered at 12 Grimmauld Place. Ron and Hermione moved in with the rest of them, and helped his mother clean the house. They were mostly kept away from the information, but they made sure to listen out for news of Harry, who eventually appeared after a Dementor attack. With Harry’s hotter temper that year, there was something of a distance between the two friends as Ron struggled to cope with it. And this was exacerbated when Ron and Hermione were named Prefects, and Harry was not. He did manage to join Harry on the Quidditch team that year though, finally, becoming the Keeper which he enjoyed thoroughly, though it distracted him from his school work. Professor Umbridge served as their worst DADA teacher yet, with her ridiculous decrees and cruel detentions. He went along with Hermione’s suggestion that they begin a student DADA group, though it was with a few grumbles at doing extra schoolwork when they didn’t necessarily have to. He would quickly change his mind when the group learned many practical defence spells, and it took on a bit of thrill when they were forced to continue in secret. Dumbledore’s Army, Ginny nicknamed it. It all became incredibly busy though as his Prefect duties, schoolwork and Quidditch practices forced out time for anything else. His father was attacked that Christmas though, by Voldemort’s snake and they all returned to Grimmauld Place for the holidays. Trelawney was sacked, Dumbledore’s Army was betrayed, Dumbledore was forced out of his own school. His brothers, Fred and George, left the school in their special way, and though Ron’s Quidditch skills finally got better and Gryffindor won the Quidditch Cup, the year would end in tragedy. His OWLS went well enough - thank you, Hermione – but Harry’s vision of Sirius being tortured had them heading off to the Ministry of Magic, despite Harry’s insistence that he go alone. Together with Ginny, Neville, Luna and Hermione, they battled against Death Eaters, and defended the prophecy Harry took. Unfortunately, Sirius was killed in the chaos and they were all saddened, though no one could be more devastated than Harry. Sixth year was interesting, but for entirely different reasons. His hormones seemed to get the better of him during this year as he fell into a physical and showy relationship with Lavender Brown. It made up for his feelings of inadequacy when it came to Harry and Hermione, the Slug Club he wasn’t invited to join, his Quidditch skills, and the teases he received from Ginny about his inexperience with girls – while she was busy dating half the boys in school. Well, he tried to prove them all wrong, snogging her at every opportunity to prove his popularity and worth. She became too clingy for him though, and he found himself comparing her to Hermione without realising, especially as he and Hermione had fought and stopped speaking to each other again. He didn’t exactly break up with Lavender, just began to avoid her. When he ate the Love-Potion-laced-chocolate from Romilda Vane meant for Harry and accidentally drank the poisoned mead meant for Dumbledore, he ended up in the Hospital Wing, only stirring from his sleep when he heard Hermione, and they finally made up. Thankfully, Lavender eventually ended their relationship. While he’d been busy with his relationship, Harry had been getting the Horcrux memory from Slughorn and while he’d not found anything wrong with the Half-Blood Prince’s potions textbook, when Draco Malfoy got slashed by Harry and the unknown curse, he’d been a little surprised to realise the depth of what Harry had been up to that year when he’d been busy making out with Lavender. He took the Felix Felicis when Harry told him and watched the Room of Requirement, fought in the battle that had ensued when the Death Eaters filed through, surviving possibly because of his luck. He was horrified by not only the death of Dumbledore, but the werewolf attack on his brother Bill, thankful he was only scarred and not killed. He and Hermione told Harry that they would not go back for their seventh year and go with him on the hunt for Horcruxes to help destroy Voldemort. They began planning the mission that summer. When he thinks of the time that followed once they’d escaped the crashed wedding of Bill and Fleur’s, it all blurs into hours spent waiting in tents, feelings of intense jealousy and suspicion brought on by the Horcrux they carried with them, worry for his family at home and Ginny stuck at Hogwarts with Snape and the Carrows. He’s still ashamed of the fact that he left Harry and Hermione, and as soon as he’d left them and the Horcrux, he’d tried to return, being caught by the Snatchers and then escaping. Not able to find his friends, he’d gone to Shell Cottage, incredibly worried for them. Finally the Deluminator lead him back to them after Christmas, and he stopped Harry from drowning and faced his demons and destroyed the Horcrux that had tortured him with tears in his eyes at the idea that Hermione could mock him and would choose Harry over him. Harry later told him it would never be the case, and he trusted in his best friend that this was the truth. They went to Luna’s father about the Deathly Hallows, but the wizard attempted to trade them for the freedom of his daughter and they narrowly escaped the Death Eaters that arrived with some quick thinking from Hermione. Harry became obsessed with the Hallows, and not long after they were captured by Snatchers. Taken to Malfoy Manor, he faced another kind of torture when Bellatrix Lestrange took Hermione and kept her screaming for far too long, his heart wrenching in his chest as he was helpless in the dungeons. Dobby saved them spectacularly, but was killed in the escape. After breaking into Gringott’s and taking another horcrux, they flew away on the back of a dragon, a story he’s desperate to eventually tell his children. They then headed for Hogwarts, where Aberforth Dumbledore and Neville Longbottom helped them inside, finding a reformed Dumbledore’s Army hiding out in the Room of Requirement. He and Hermione went down to the Chamber of Secrets to destroy the Cup, and when he suggested evacuating the House Elves, Hermione kissed him and despite Harry’s interruption that a war was going on, he didn’t care. It was about bloody time, and if they were going to die, this was the thing he wanted to be doing in his last moments. The battle was intense and they lost many people, his brother Fred included. It devastated him and he wanted revenge, only Hermione able to calm him enough to concentrate on the rest of the battle. He was further hurt when Harry was announced dead and he continued to fight, knowing that Harry had brought them to this point not for them to give in now. He was ridiculously relieved when Harry was found not to have died and then to see Voldemort killed for the final time. He basked in the glory of their victory over the Death Eaters, helping with the clean-up of the war – the castle, their lives, helping his family cope with their loss. Though they had been through hell, Ron felt so much lighter knowing that they had prevailed, they had stopped it all. He trained to become an Auror with Harry and they worked for the next few years on rounding up the remaining Death Eaters, and despite voting for Kingsley Shacklebolt, he wasn’t too bothered by Diggory’s election. The man had lost a son to the war, he would be an alright substitute if Shacklebolt wasn’t able to. The first few laws and decrees didn’t bother him either, happy to have some justice for the actions of those in the war. When they moved onto Purebloods though, he began to narrow his eyes at the progression. He seemed to be an exception to the rule, his National Treasure status protecting him from the prejudice, perhaps some forgot that he counted as a Pureblood as the Weasleys had never subscribed to that society. And it went swiftly downhill from there; Luna was arrested and named ST for publishing an anti-Ministry manifesto, and shortly after, Hermione was made an ST too. Ron had been ready to throw a middle finger up to the Ministry for that, but realised he would be more useful not doing so. He was still a National Treasure, part of the Auror Department, had access to important information; he’d be more use to the Resistance. It has taken its toll though. His friendships and relationships have suffered for the pretence of continued support for the Ministry, and he isn’t sure they actually even trust him anyway – he’s never been a particularly good liar or actor. But it’s for a good cause, Ron tells himself. Bring down Diggory and protecting anymore people from harm make it all worthwhile… doesn’t it? ooc Name: Jo Age: 22 Instant Messenger: AIM: pillywickle E-mail Address: pillywickle@gmail.com CDJ: ![]() Timezone: GMT PB: Jon Foster |
