Sirus was losing his mind. It was the only explanation (or at least the only explaination he was willing to entertain. Everything else was just...) He'd ended up sleeping most of yesterday away, cuddled up against Remus' side like a child with a security blanket. He'd woken up once or twice, but fell back to sleep almost immediatly after reassuring himself that Remus was still there. Once he'd woken alone, and the overwhelming panic he'd felt had been nearly enough to drive him mad.
He had skivved off classes again today, though he knew he was going to have to face the rest of the world sooner of later. He didn't hurt as badly anymore, so there was at least that. Nothing left but a memory of pain and a stifness that he could probably work out if he did something other than lie in his bed and try not to think.
But when Lily asked him to walk with her he couldn't really say no. Remus was still hurting, that much was obvious. He hadn't said anything, probably never would, but Sirius could tell. And he didn't blame him, after what Sirius had said on Sunday he was surprised his friend hadn't tried to punch him one. Like James. James was clearly still furious with him. Lily was the only one who seemed to be willing to talk to him, and he didn't want to push her away. So he pulled himself out of bed, and even managed to put on a clean shirt before trudging downstairs to meet her.
