I really believe something about this recession is claiming the lives of people, and I'm not surprised it's happening at my school. People who thought they were so rich are falling under the economic woes and just start killing each other, or just dying. I don't know.
A teacher died from a brain aneurysm, a girl died in a car crash, a girl and her entire family was shot (her, 15, her mother, her 3 year old brother.), and today, the day I did not go to school because yesterday I went to a family outing to a hotel/waterpark and we drove back at 4am, and with 3 hours of sleep, I opted out. Today, an English teacher I see every day died from a heart attack.
I've never been so glad I didn't go to school.

please stop it. Your OMC, Obama, is the worst Sue I've seen in a long time. Your WIP has been going on for a while now, with frequent updates, but so far, we haven't seen a single flaw. Coolest guy in town, funny, smart as a particularly smart whip, easily catches the eye of every swing state, about to adopt a puppy... even rappers like him. Rappers! The world is a hostile place. Suspicious European governments aren't going to be excited to the point of dribbling on their shirts the moment he appears on their doorstep. 200,000 people in Berlin? Come on. That name alone. Seriously, what's with people and their love for unusual names? John and Bill are perfectly fine for a president. Or Milhous. Even worse, your John McCain is completely OOC. That man's a war hero, he's not going to suddenly, I don't know, campaign with a fake plumber or something, just to make your character look better. Even more ridiculous: al Qaeda endorsing McCain to show how awesome your Sue is. And I'm not even talking about Sarah Palin. The world doesn't work that way.
However, the worst thing is the puppy. Please, don't let him have a puppy. If that happens, the planet will spontaneously combust to be replaced by a big ball of fluff and sunshine. Seriously. Al Gore was bad enough--Oscar AND Nobel Prize, puh-lease--but at least he had the decency to lose the election. For the love of puppies, give us some flaws, something to work with, okay?

...I wish people would stop bitching.
My parents coming twenty years ago on planes from Africa and then all of us sitting down watching somebody who finally looked like us becoming the leader of the free world makes me feel like...
I can't even describe it.
I wish people would stop crying and realize what a moment this is for black people. I am the true meaning of African-American. I was born here and yet my parents remember running in the red dust in Africa and playing soccer with their cousins, never believing anything they would say in America no matter how old the country would get would matter.
Yesterday I expected them to throw away our votes.
The more people cry about it, the more it makes America feel the same.
Stop, already.
I cried as Jesse Jackson cried, I wept as I'm sure Martin Luther King above would have wept, I sobbed while my father, my stepmother, my family in Africa, my cousins in New Jersey, my nephew in Alexandria did. An eternal moment of exceeding happiness that makes me feel as if I could write a book based on those fifteen to twenty minutes.
No white person will feel how I did yesterday night. And when I go to school and they hug me and tell me congratulations, I feel sorry for them. They couldn't share this incredible moment the way I can. But the both of us can live to tell of it.
I'm so glad to be alive.
