THAT STOP ME

GENDER: Female
NATIONALITY: German Fae
HEIGHT: 5'11"
WEIGHT: She has no idea
EYES: Dark brown//starry blue-violet
HAIR: Blonde//platinum
SKIN: Pale//silver sheen
DRESS: --
FAE MARK: A cluster of three falling stars - pale blue, violet and dark blue - trailing tails of silver dust.

Like all fae, Star is rather tall even in her seamed form where she stands at 5'11" (and a half). In this form she has pale white skin, dark brown eyes and long, light blonde hair with sideways bangs. Star is actually kind of fascinated by this form and can often be found staring at herself while she's in it, toying around with the exact shade of her eyes and hair to 'get it just right'. She has no real style when it comes to what she wears, she pretty much just picks whatever she thinks looks the best and goes from there for the day. Looser clothes tend to be her favorites, though, and she seems to favor silvers, blacks and blues; one almost constant is her donning of a hat to hide her ears since she dislikes glamouring them away. The way that Star moves and carries herself is an ever-changing thing that usually relies on the people she's spent the most time around recently; though she is always extremely graceful and agile, having always relied on that since she's not much stronger than your average human. Star smiles and laughs easily, and is far more likely to be seen in some sort of good humor than down or upset.

Unseamed, Star is a little taller at six foot. Her general appearance and build is the same - always pointed ears, oval face, pouty lips and a larger than normal nose - but she's obviously nowhere near human. Her skin seems to take on an almost silver sheen or glow, like she's being lit up from the inside and her hair seems more of a platinum blonde that seems to emanate the same sheen as her skin. Her most notable feature - other than the wings - are always going to be her eyes. They are a brilliant shade of blue-violet with little flecks and swirls of silver that sometimes makes it look like she literally has the stars in her eyes. Now for her wings, something that Star loves and wishes she could have out all the time even in the mortal realm. They are shaped very much like dragonfly wings with two distinct and separate ones on each side. They look rather like this, mostly transparent. The veins crossing throughout vary between black and multiple shades of gray and silver with the cells near the top seeming shaded dark blue. Like with all the rest of her they give off that silvery glow of magic.

personality

SHINING WHEN I'M ALONE

Star has always been a rather cheerful fae, smiling far more often than she frowns, and more often than not more interested in putting a smile on the faces of others as well instead of upsetting them - unless there is a joke involved, because her laughing is worth someone else swearing in her mind. Later she might apologize if she really upsets someone, but this is rare because she can't really understand why someone won't laugh at themselves when it's funny. Her sense of humor is wide-ranging, but tends to center in quite a bit on pranks in all their forms. Though her personal favorite method will always be pretending to be someone else and then revealing the truth at a... usually inopportune moment. Oh yes, she's tricked friends without even glamouring up and she cannot wait to see what she'll be able to do on this realm where not everyone can see through them. Star isn't malicious no matter what happens, her intent is usually entertainment and if she caused someone actual physical harm on accident then she'd feel terrible. That's not to say that she wouldn't hurt someone if they deserved it - she would and has before - it's just that she never wants her pranks to go quite that far. Emotional trauma hardly counts in her book. The fae-girl doesn't get mortal laws either or why she should need to follow them since she's so obviously not mortal. Like money laundering, which she does without even thinking about it by switching how much a bill is worth, or defacing of public property (graffiti). Your rules are funny and she won't follow them. She won't stay in jail if she gets put there either, your laws have naught to do with her and she will be leaving now, thank you.

When her feelings have been hurt, Star can be as sullen and sulky as the next person, needing to be given a good reason to forgive whoever was at fault. Something shiny will usually do the trick. She's a very good and loyal friend who will stand by those she cares about until the end. Okay, well, she thinks that she will. She tries. And she really would still stand by any of her friends or family back in the Fair Realm, she just really really needed to leave when the Gates opened. Star likes to think that if she knew any of them needed her she would go racing right back no matter what was going on, but the truth is she doesn't know. Because what if someone needs her here too? She can make it look like there are two of her, but there's really only the one and in her mind she's known Allegra, Willow and Venus for every bit as long as those people back home. Speaking of the Bohinen's, Star thinks they're fantastic. Even if they do something wrong then she'll find a good reason for it if they don't. They were pretty much her idols throughout her entire life and the driving point behind her leaving the Fair Realm. Should one of them ask her to do something then she'd probably drop everything else to do it. On the flip-side, if one of them gets upset with her? Star will probably be inconsolable and do whatever she can to be forgiven - including extreme things if she'll think they'll help. What do you mean turning the main road into the yellow brick road from the Wizard of Oz won't fix anything? It damn well should!

And Star does have a wicked edge to her temper when it flares. This is a very rare thing, but when it does happen it isn't pretty. She likes to use her mimicry and glamours for fun, but she will use them against people. This isn't pulling a prank, this is getting back at someone for whatever they did to her or someone she likes, and it's not something anyone wants to see. Whoever is her target may very well start to think they're going mad from all the things they're hearing or seeing and that is Star's intent exactly. She's only done this about twice in her life and she'd really be happier if she never had to do it again, but if she did... well then she'll do it.

STRENGTHS:
-Copycat. This is even more impressive around mortals who she can use her glamours on without them seeing right through it. Star can make herself sound like an entire chorus or band, and she will usually do this even if she's just singing in the shower. When Star's around you can never be sure how many people are in the room just by listening, and you might even be surprised to hear yourself over in the living room when you're positive you're actually in the kitchen.

-Faster than you. Star may not be any stronger than an average human, but she is faster and more agile. Her family's always been quick, something that she realized when she was around certain other fae, but is really realizing now that she's in the mortal realm. Forgive her if she shocks you by zooming in front of you or snatching the last cookie before your hand has started moving for it, that's just how she's always moved and it's hard for her to slow it down if she's not thinking. Which doesn't really bother her, she likes being fast.

WEAKNESSES:
-It's not just a show in the mirror. For someone who spent most of her life watching the lives of others (specifically Willow and Venus with their mother and aunt sometimes tossed in for fun) unfold, it's quite a thing to be able to go to their world and see what it's like, what they're like. Except Star has a problem with remembering that she's not just watching anymore. She's actually there and they're right there. If she says something, they'll respond. It's a real world with real things and real problems and she can't just disturb the surface and have it all vanish. As much as she absolutely loves it, it can be a touch overwhelming at times.

-How the hell do you know that?! ...because she saw you do it when you were ten-years-old. For her, remembering Willow's favorite shirt or how Venus best likes her tea or the way that Allegra prefers things arranged in the store is like anyone else remembering facts from their favorite TV show. She knows because she's spent years watching and picking these things up. Strange as it is to you, it's not to her and she gets confused when people are shocked, alarmed, mad or any sort of bothered over what she knows. And she does need to be told "Sweetie, these aren't things you just say and also, please stop talking like you know people who haven't met you, it's freaking everyone out."

-Doesn't know the value of a dollar. She really doesn't. She didn't really understand it when she was still in the Fair Realm with her parents and now she gets it even less. It's just paper, why are you attaching so much value to it? Seriously! That bill with the dollar looks and feels exactly the same as the one with the hundred, so what's the difference? Star sees no problem in switching the numbers and colors around with a well-placed glamour so that the mortals think it's more valuable. She might even be nice enough to make it permanent.

-I want to play!! Star absolutely loves playing games. Hide and seek, poker, the video games she's always seen but never touched... she could get so caught up in a game that she forgets about the rest of the world easily. Old school video arcades or casinos would be the places that she could go and stay at for days on end if they didn't kick her out. And no, she's never going to get enough of them. This is the girl who'd be all too happy to settle in for a nice, long game of Monopoly.

-"Did you hear about..." Fae loves her gossip, too. And she talks about people's lives the way that most people would the lives of characters in TV shows. Sorry Allegra, Venus and Willow, but her friends back in the Fair Realm have heard so much about you it's not even funny. This gossip habit is just going to keep on until someone points out it can be a really big habit. Oh, and then it will still carry on because if she doesn't see the problem then she's not going to "correct" her behavior. At least she can't just pick a mirror up and see all that everyone is getting into, right?

-"Stop copying me!" Sometimes, sometimes a lot, Star takes mimicking other people a step too far and becomes irritating. She usually doesn't even know that she's doing it and will need to be told. But even if told... then she might just think it's funny and keep it up for the hell of it. More than once it's gotten past just irritating and someone has refused to speak to her until she acts like herself again instead of them or whoever else she was copying. It's not that she has anything against herself, it's more like she really just thinks it's funny and fun.

-Iron. Well, she's a fae and that means she is beyond seriously allergic to the stuff. Which she's never really been exposed to before, so it's new to her on top of everything else and she's having to figure out all the things that it's in so she can properly ward herself from it. Chances run very high that she's going to get sick off it a few times before she figures out that there's iron in the water or in cars, etc. etc.

powers

NOISES I PLAY WITH IN MY HEAD

Star is a fae of the Seelie Court. Yes, that's right, she is a fairy and she absolutely loves what she is.
Strengths: Channel magic, glamours (three times stronger than any fae-blooded individual), psychic capabilities, tongues (can speak and understand all languages), detecting their own and affinities.
Weaknesses: Iron, the fair folk (cannot back out of a deal)

Reader: Fae are capable of having abilities that mimic human psychics and Star is lucky enough to have ended up with the abilities of a Reader, currently she is hovering at level two.
Readers do exactly that: read. They use various items to help them predict things as well as answer various questions.
Level 1: All sorts of items can be used to help answer questions: Bones, candles, dice, palms, runes, tarot, even tea leaves. It takes a while for the reader to clearly see the message though.
Level 2: Items such as mirrors, water, or the old school crystal ball can be used for scrying. With concentration, visions can be seen on the surface of their chosen item. These visions are always in black and white and hard to full comprehend.

SPECIAL SKILLS / ABILITIES:
Like any fae-blooded individual, Star has a special affinity. Her's is a natural knack for mimicry. Even without using her glamours she can mimic people's voices and mannerisms eerily well and is capable of throwing her voice. She's also fairly talented with a variety of musical instruments (most notably the drums, tambourine and xylophone) and is an excellent actress. She considers her knowledge of the mortal realm to be a special ability too, since most of her kind aren't near as interested as her and didn't spend so much time watching mortal children go through their school lessons.

history

THEY'RE CALLING ME HOME

Once upon a time in the Fair Realm there were two dignitaries of the Seelie Court who were married - the husband (Falk) a frequent ambassador to the Unseelie while the wife (Sanne) helped deal with more day-to-day matters dealing with the law among the Seelie themselves in their area - and had lived for a very long time. In fact, Sanne remembered a world from before they had their own realm while Falk had been born not terribly long after. When they had been younger they had had a single son named Seifer, who had been just as interested in matters of the court as his parents. He was so interested in that and the mortal realm that when it was decided that some of them would be sent to keep the Unseelie who had been exiled in check, he volunteered and left even though he knew he'd never return. Falk and Sanne half-hoped that he would one day and they had decided to not have any children, having no desire to replace their son. It took around four centuries for them to change their mind and agree that yes, they wanted another child and yes, they were capable of raising one no matter how long it had been.

They were not quite right about this.

Crescentia was born to Falk and Sanne, according to the human calendar, on October 30th in the year 1981. She was a perfectly healthy little fae-girl and for a time everything was peaceful and happy in the Meino household. Until the day when Crescentia learned how to walk. First were the stumbling steps that allowed her to reach those things she could not before. Then she learned how to run. And then she learned how to use those wings she had been born with and nothing in the house was safe from her ever-reaching and grasping little fingers again. Sanne nearly drove herself mad chasing after her little girl or putting up wards. Which really, Crescentia loved the wards that her mother put up. It gave her the chance to tug at and play with them, learning how she'd done it and more importantly - how to undo or get around them. Had they been the best that her mother was capable of then of course she wouldn't have gotten past, but they never were and she'd be able to find a loose corner to tug at and unravel the whole thing. Eventually Sanne realized what was happening and started deliberating setting up spells around the house for Crescentia to play with so that she'd leave everything else alone. That worked for awhile and then she was bored of it and moved onto what would become her favorite thing in the entire world: copying people. Not just the typical childhood repeating everything that was said, oh no, Crescentia had a true gift and she could mimic not only the words, but the inflections and tone and even the sound of the voice to some degree. She had started off with the birds around the house, but it didn't take her long to move onto her parents, neighbors, aunts, uncles, etc.

When she was around five, and had once again began getting into everything, Sanne sat her down with a mirror and showed her how to look into the mortal realm. She started it off with a story about her brother (Crescentia had been hearing stories about her brother for as long as she could remember) and then she showed her a woman named Allegra who had a husband, Jensen and two little girls, Willow and Venus. Crescentia was immediately entranced and happily took to watching them pretty much every day. This was even better than any of the stories her parents could tell or anything she could read or make up herself - this was real! Crescentia liked the world that she saw in her mirror or the small pool out in the backyard when her mother insisted that she go get some fresh air. She liked their lessons - even the ones that Willow didn't seem to because she liked her magic better - and would spend hours telling her parents all about them when they insisted on 'family time'. Should it ever be said that this was meant to be time for the family, then Crescentia would simply say "they are family, mother said so!" and carry on like before. She even mimicked their voices when she told her stories, usually turning it into an event that entertained everyone. Granted, most of them thought she was just making up stories... she'd been watching the other realm for about a year when she came to a decision. Willow and Venus were amazing names. Crescentia? Wasn't. It was long and boring in her mind and she didn't understand why her parents hadn't given her something simply and yet amazing like her cousins. Allegra had the far better taste in this matter and to show how true she believed this to be, Crescentia decided that she would go by 'Star' and respond only to that. Well, unless she was in trouble, then her parents would use her full name and she'd answer. But other than that it was 'Star'.

Star enjoyed the lessons that she got in magic (especially glamours), history and other things that were viewed as important, but even so she would still go home every day and spend hours watching Willow or Venus or Allegra. She liked them all for different reasons, and it was actually through watching Willow that she started to realize what this various little things she did that weren't regular magic were. Star had been able to see things in various mediums, answers to questions or things about a person she really shouldn't know, for awhile without knowing what she was doing. She told her mother when she was busy with something major and received a "that's nice dear, please don't change the color of the lawn again" (which she'll have you know she only did twice when she was eight!) for her effort. Star wasn't daunted, or really bothered, by this and instead of struggling through it herself or poking her mother again she learned by watching Willow learn and use her abilities, though personally she never got a bloody nose off it. She paid more attention to Willow dealing with her psychic abilities - and the magic with everyone always, because how humans use magic is so different! - and Venus when it came to the lessons she had at school. Star is very proud of what she knows about the mortal realm's history, their math, their sciences... though science confuses her a little bit and she never understood geometry. Spelling is fun, though. Mississippi is her long-term favorite word to spell.

In addition to watching the Bohinen family, Star continued to improve on her own ability to channel magic, use her glamours (most especially verbal ones) and mimic people. The latter made her popular among other fae her age in the area as she could always tell the best stories or act out entire plays, or of course mock their elders so perfectly that they might not even realize it was happening. It also led to her discovering something else that she enjoyed almost every bit as much: music. Especially singing. Star believed right from the start that she could sing anything perfectly, which wasn't exactly true, but she got better and better with practice. After a time she began to pull her glamours into it so that she could have multiple voices singing at the same time without ever needing to worry about dragging other people in. Music became an obsession with her, especially music from the mortal realm, and more than once she focused on it so much that it was all she did other than break a few hours to get her daily dose of Bohinen in. This ended up leading to a few arguments with her parents and more than once she got grounded. Now for many, grounding involves being put in the room. That never worked for Star, who could entertain herself easily there because she had a mirror or a glass of water or any variety of things with which she could just scry into the mortal realm. Because yes, she absolutely needed to see what was going to happen today! What if she missed something important like a new boyfriend or a better word than Mississippi?! Really, her parents were not trying to be mean, they were just trying to... well, they were not even sure. With Seifer they had never needed to try to get him interested in a line of work, but all that Star was ever interested in was the mortal realm, music and putting on little shows for friends or family to show off how good she was at copying every last minute detail of someone else. Finally they sat her down for a talk about her future. Star was less than interested, she was fifteen and really more interested in whether or not Viktor was going to try kissing her again, but she tried her best to work with them because she knew they cared. In the end she agreed to start taking lessons from a professional performer who was often invited to balls given for the court.

Star's talent for mimicry proved to be invaluable for this, as did her work with weaving glamoured voices into her singing. True, fae can see or hear right through it, but she always thought that made it sound ghostly or haunting and that much better for it. She took best to music, though acting was was so long as she could see someone else perform the part first, but never showed much of a knack for fake magic tricks her teacher picked up from watching human "magicians". Even with this training and occasional performances, always smaller ones and never on her own, Star still took the time to watch her cousins in the mortal realm. When Jensen had died she had been distraught because she liked him and saw the impact it had on the family, but she was proud of how they pulled themselves together and kept on going. She was also always intrigued by the girl's relationships. When Venus met the Summers' twins, Star turned a bit of her daily viewing over to them and was completely surprised to find out what they were. Which meant that sometimes she wanted to shout at the mirror "NO VENUS THAT'S NOT IT" or other varities thereof, but it never worked because you can't hear through that thing. She was thrilled when they got engaged and got it on, though she kind of does wonder if it's the best move. And she is over there with Willow on the side of "it's really his problem if you want to bail". Until then, she'll prefer Trent to August simply because he never hid his feelings. Of course her opinion on this matters, why wouldn't it? She's known them her entire life!

Her parents never stopped worrying that she was more interested in the mortal realm than the Fair, and was that really so surprising? The same was really true of her brother and that was why he left. Everyone always knew that if the chance presented itself again, Star would be right there ready to go. But since it never did she contented herself with her viewings and performances. Oh, and Viktor did kiss her again. A few times. He asked her to marry him when she was twenty-six and she's still debating whether or not to say 'yes' or 'no'. Yeah, a year later and he's still not pressing for the answer because he knows Star and how she can be when it comes to these things. She really does like him quite a bit and has since they were fifteen, she just doesn't know if she ever wants to get married. What's so great about it? It's just a thing that people do sometimes. Her parents have been perfectly happily married for centuries and according to tales her brother was just as happy in his, so it's not like she has any family-based issues to keep her away from it.

AFTER THE GATES OPENED:
Imagine that something you had waited practically your entire life for suddenly just happened with no warning. Just BAM there it is, waiting for you. Star wanted to jump at it, but everyone who knew her knew that that would happen and so they were ready to stop her. Her parents didn't think that she should go because what if the Gates closed again? Then they would have lost both their children to that other Realm. Or what if she got seriously hurt? Or a multitude of other things that Star had never once stopped to actually consider for herself. Then there was Viktor, who was still waiting for his answer and had no interest in the mortal realm. He liked their Realm and while it might be fun for awhile, he didn't want to go when there was any sort of risk he wouldn't be able to get back. So instead of just zooming over there like she wanted to, Star waited. She waited out of respect for her parents and because she was trying to figure out the best way to tell Viktor that she was going. She could not have the chance to go and meet the people she had spent most of her life watching and turn it down. So what if the gates closed again? She'd miss her parents, but they'd be able to see her and it wasn't as if they didn't know how to deal with it.

Star thinks that everyone should be grateful and pleased that she waited for as long as she did. A little over a month. Viktor pleaded with her to wait at least until after her birthday, but that would have been far too long. No, Star decided on September 18th that she was leaving the Fair Realm and she said her goodbyes to everyone she knew. Then she sat down with Viktor and told him that she was turning down his proposal. What if she never came back? What if he never came over there? A whole multitude of 'what if's that neither of them had the answer to and she was not going to leave that huge question hanging there for him to turn over and over in his head. He wanted her to say that she was not going to look at anyone while she was gone and Star could not do that. Though it might be a little weird because she knows he's probably going to be watching her now and again. Oh well, she's far too excited about the fact that she is FINALLY going to meet the Bohinen's! She's just trying to decide where it will be best to pop in on them.

STRONG AT DREAMING

• Star is a huge fan of her glamours. Really. Every day she's going to be playing with them and sometimes she doesn't even realize she's doing it. So uh, don't be surprised if she's walking around with lights trailing her or speaking with an echo.
• Loves, absolutely loves, root beer. Now that she has tasted it she thinks it's the most fantastic thing mortals have ever come up with.
