I know. What? Marty? Still alive. Sort of. I saw this meme and thought I should do it because it might inspire me in one direction or another where my RP is concerned. Especially since I have been so uninspired. I just did it all at once, because I was bored and needed a break from classes. Hmm.
day 01: the first character you ever played The first character I ever played online was Crocodile Dundee (Hahah I know wtf right? I was twelve. Give me a break.) Then I was involved in a long running X-Files SL as Alex Krycek. My first character on journals was Tom Cassidy at X_Displaced.
day 02: what comes first, the character or the pb? Usually the PB inspires me to a character. Very rarely do I have the desire to play a particular character and then have to go searching for a PB. I usually pick PBs that I am currently "in to." Though, there have been a few occasions where I have picked up previous characters and their original PBs and have somehow managed to find the inspiration to write them.
day 03: do you name your characters after people? Not usually.
day 04: have you ever based a character off of someone you know IRL? No.
day 05: similar or frequent themes in your characters All of my bad guy characters have a similar theme of not believing they are bad, but seeing their point of view as being the correct one. Most of them honestly believe that they are doing the right thing (even if it is at the expense of others.) Most of my characters exhibit some form of cockeyed sense of humor that usually hides their true feelings about something serious. I've been told that my good guys have a reputation for being "cuddly." Oh, also, all of my characters express the troubles of middle aged men.
day 06: scenes/characters that make you laugh the most Logs with Jake vs. Anybody at We-Coexist. Anything with Mytok (from ShadowBridge) trying to learn how to be one with his human self. Any scene involving Moses (from The_Quarantined) protecting his museum.
day 07: scenes/characters that make you cry the most I did a lot of tearing up over my characters in XD, particularly logs between Erik/Raven and Erik/Charles. And just about every log between Erik and Wanda made me weep. Also, Kip and Ari in KillingStreets (whom I adore!)
day 08: character you've played the longest I think XD!Erik was my longest running character. He spanned numerous PSLs and reincarnations of the game. And every once and a while I catch him still lingering in my brain.
day 09: character that's had the most development Probably XD!Erik. He had the run of my brain for quite a few years.
day 10: if you had to link to one scene in which you are most proud of your writing, it would be... There are numerous narratives and logs that I'm proud of. To pick one would be almost impossible. Heck, to pick one for each character would be hard. I'm proud of all the logs I've been in and all of the narratives I've come up with. Just the opportunity to create well-developed characters and storylines with other people is what I am most proud of.
day 11: character you're proudest of Manny Wilkes (from TQ and American_Nomads.) And XD!Erik if only because I really had to reinvent the character since he was a dropped character in game. It's difficult to distinguish yourself and your character when he was previously played. But I think with Erik I was able to do that.
day 12: a character you wish you were still playing XD!Erik. Doctor Strange. XU!Pesty. Although, I would like the opportunity to look back at some characters and see where they would be say five years later in their SL. XU!Jono, for example, is a character that I would try my hand at again with the hopes of him developing more as an adult character. And Weed (from Dystopia_X). I thought that was a very cool idea for a game, and I liked all of the characters in it. I would try my hand at him again, also.
day 13: favorite weakness or quirk to play Characters who can't seem to get a handle on their personal relationships.
day 14: favorite kind of pb: actor, musician, or model Actor. For sure.
day 15: character you have the most in common with Strangely, I think I had the most in common with my Obi-Wan character at Parabolical.
day 16: any weird character-creation quirks you have David Caruso as Thanatos? My brain was on crack that day.
day 17: worst RPing experience you've ever had RPing with a particular person who continuously kept controlling the situation and changing the scenery without warning or reason. To be fair, though, I think they just forgot what they were doing.
day 18: do you play more good-guys or bad-guys? which is more fun to you? I think I even out the good guys and the bad guys. I prefer to play the bad guys because I think they have more potential to develop as characters in the long run. And if they don't develop, they're fun to kill.
day 19: favorite brand of evil Bad guys that somehow make good guys feel bad for them. It's the best way to lead them over to the dark side, bwahaha!
day 20: favorite enemies I don't know if I have any favorites. But probably the shortlived Horsemen at XU. They were the best.
day 21: have you ever played out the death of a character? Yes. Roland Deschain at We_Coexist. That was tough because I really loved that character. But I think it was fitting.
day 22: your worst RP habit Sticking to the cliche Marty PB. Awkwardly attractive middle-aged white males.
day 23: the weirdest thing that ever inspired a character, scene, or plot Probably WC!Norman's love of taxidermy leading him and Hannibal Lecter to picking out eyeballs in a taxidermist store.
day 24: ever read/written a scene that legitimately creeped you out? Yes. Though it's very few and far between that someone is able to give me the heebie-jeebies with their writing. But it has happened on occasion. Not for a while, though.
day 25: favorite scene or plot that YOU weren't involved in Oh wow. There are so many. I don't even know if I can pick one. How about every scene or plot that I wasn't involved in!
day 26: are you sadistic to your characters? where do you draw the line? I don't know about sadistic, but I do like to put my characters through traumatic situations. Otherwise they don't grow and develop. There's nothing worse than a stagnant character. And, unfortunately for the character, working through bad situations usually make them better characters in the long run.
day 27: a scene that made you shout/gasp/laugh out loud (and get some weird looks in the process) Erik + David Haller = Flying Car. HILARIOUS. And still one of my all time favorite scenes.
day 28: character you'd most want to hang out with IRL XD!Berto.
day 29: character you'd cross the street to avoid IRL Not my character. But XD!Nathan creeped the heck out of me.
day 30: a location/setting you'd like to play in the future Something futuristic along the lines of Firefly. Set in the future with many advances, but human society still manages to de-evolve on some level. Or simply is unable to compete with all of their own technology. And though it sounds boring, I've always kind of wanted to be in a game of characters who are just normal. No powers, no bizarre abilities, no zombies, no aliens. But have a plot that binds them all together in an interesting fashion. I also enjoyed that shortlived murder mystery game I was in. I would be more involved in Marvel-esque games if someone could come up with a new and different idea. Or if I could relive the entire XD experience again. That was love.
