Word from China that Xi Wang's health is not good. She has been losing weight quite rapidly and isn't holding food down at all. It's really heartbreaking to hear such news and not be able to be there to try to help with my own two hands.

Keep her in your thoughts, will you?

Roger
What are the chances that I'm going to play in the game this week? If they're low, might I have a few days to head to China and check in on dragon-kind's last hope?

Friends, Siblings
Seen the Prophet this week? I feel like it is our time. Why aren't we part of a renegade group that fights for good? Should we be thinking about something like that? (I can bring dragons).

Meaghan
Can we talk?

That's exactly right. I'm feeling incredibly apprehensive about it.

That's a fair point. I'm not sure what sort of pesticides are used in China, but I'm willing to bet that they're not as safe as what we use here.

I know. Why do you think I offered to go in your place?

At the very least they probably use unregulated amounts since they don't have the same kind of environmental regulations in place that much of the west has. But even here there could be pesticides in use that aren't harmful to Muggle creatures but hurt dragons. And the Muggles wouldn't know that they're hurting a species that they believe to be mythological.

Which reminds me. Any ideas of who we could approach in the Muggle world that could do something about it if we find out that's what's causing the problem?

That's kind of you.

Those are all very fine points. But I'm tired and having trouble processing what that means.

I think we'd have to go through the ministry. I know they have people stationed alongside the Prime Minister and whatnot to smooth things over. Maybe Kingsley Shacklebolt?

I might screw things up on occasion but you're still one of my best friends. If I can save you hurt I'll do what I have to in order to do it.

I'm going into London tomorrow to do some more research. I'll prepare everything for you and have it on your desk as soon as I'm finished.

Probably wise. It might also do to have any Muggleborns with high ranking parents suggest supporting whatever it is that Shacklebolt comes up with as well. I think there are at least a couple of MPs among those who graduated after us.

I generally don't know you to screw anything up.

Unfortunately, I think I need to go with you. She needs medical attention. Unless you think you can give an IV to a baby dragon.

That sounds like a good plan.

You know what I mean.

I definitely can't do that. I don't really know much about interacting with dragons at all. Everything I know I've learned since I started keeping your records for you.

I don't. If there was something, I've forgotten about it.

Which is why I need to go. But I really don't want to go alone.

If I can't go, you can still make the trip. But... it won't be pleasent, at all. You'll probably have to watch her die.

You don't have to go alone Charlie. I'm here. 100%. Always. You know that.

I WILL still make the trip. Because I know how important it is for you to have someone there. I know it's probably going to be the worst thing I've ever experienced but it doesn't matter. What matters is that we find out what's causing this. And the only way that can be done is by figuring out what the common thread is.

Thank you, I appreciate that.

I would really hate to send you alone. If I can't make it, I may ask Rolf to go with you, if he's willing. He has at least a little experience with magical creatures, and I'd like to have some sort of support system for you while you're there.

Face it Charlie, you're stuck with me. One Hufflepuff trait I have in spades is loyalty. You're one of my people and you have been since forever. I would move heaven and Earth for you if I had to.

Rolf and I are good friends and I'm sure he could help me out. I would prefer to have you around but he's probably the best replacement there is.

I wasn't expecting you to go anywhere, you know.

I can't think of a better person to go with you. I will ask him and see what he says.

I know.

He'll probably say yes. I imagine that this problem is something that's bothering him as well. One would think.

I hope he says yes.
