positive traits

☝ Fun-Loving

When Lee was a child, he enjoyed getting into some sort of adventure, which often meant getting into some sort of mischief. It was a good thing, though, considering who he became friends with. And even still, as an adult, he enjoys looking for a bout of entertainment and has no problem following along, or dragging someone into, whatever catches his interest at the moment.

☝ Generous

Lee will give you the shirt off his back if you need it, and probably his shoes and socks too.

☝ Communicative

Lee has a thought about everything, and is entirely happy to share it with you. You will always know where you stand with Lee because he will let you know. And when there is a fight with a friend, he will not hesitate to tell that friend why he's angry. And, on the flip side of that, Lee also is always willing to talk things out as well as verbally share his love for his circle of friends.

☝ Loyal

Lee makes friends for life, and gives his affection wholeheartedly. It would take more than loss of limb or life to sway Lee from those he considers friends (Ask the Weasleys or the former Quidditch team), and he'd gladly walk through fire for them, with a jaunty tune on his lips while he did it.

☝ Charismatic

Sometimes he gets away with more than he ought to because he is so damn charming. With the bright smile and willingness to get himself in the paint, so to speak, it's difficult to stay upset with Lee.

negative traits

☟ Opinionated

Having an opinion on every little thing might mean that one will always know where Lee Jordan stands, but it also means that one will always know where Lee Jordan stands. This, coupled with his penchant for being a bit tactless, sometimes gets him into hot water.

☟ Biased

Though it has toned down considerably from his Hogwarts Quidditch announcing days, Lee has very obvious biases and honestly isn’t terribly afraid of people knowing it. He likes what, and who, he likes and thinks people should know as such.

☟ Disregards Authority Figures

Lee holds a certain disregard for authority figures. He finds that they are often impotent and bungling, though have no idea that they are either. This disregard manifests in a flippant attitude towards the authoritative person, and has gotten him in trouble with his bosses from time to time.

☟ Obsinate

Stubbornness is a boon sometimes, particularly when dealing with his also incredibly stubborn friends, but it is also a burden when coupled with his disregard for people in charge.

☟ Commitment-phobe

Though he’s unsure whether it’s still youthful age or a genuine fear, Lee severely dislikes the idea of being tied down. He has no problem maintaining friendships – Lee loves his friends with every breath in his lungs – but he is too much of a flirt to settle down with any one particular person.

neither here nor there

☞ Loquacious

Lee could talk. And it wasn't always all filler either; he knows his way around words and writings in order to best entertain and inform people.

☞ Defender

As he's grown older, Lee took stock of things and saw how wrong some things were. While he still has his biases and is working on them, he will speak up for, and defend, whomever he believes was wronged. Affiliation doesn't much matter when it came to the truth and what was right and wrong.

☞ Sonorous Voice

Lee's voice is steady and pleasant, a good thing for a radio personality. He can also carry a pretty good tune.

history
Timeline: Please describe at least five important events in your character’s life and how they have impacted their growth.

(December, 1977 to 1980) - The most important thing happened on December 12, 1977. Lee Robert Jordan was brought into the world. The second child, and only son, of Shane and Roberta Jordan, Lee grew up in a loving, if interesting, family. His father was a wizard, which was something that was out in the open amongst small family. However, they lived an ultimately very muggle life. When Shane had met Roberta, he decided to put his wand away and live simply. It didn't hurt that the Wizarding world seemed to be shifting into a time of turmoil, something Shane wasn't keen of putting his new wife into the middle of. It also didn't hurt that Janeen, Lee's older sister by three years, hadn't seemed to show a penchant for magic yet. She would continue to be the normal one, but Lee was a different story. His magic showed at an early age, starting at the age of two when he accidentally levitated his favourite stuffed animal from the floor to his bed.

(1980 to 1989) - Still accidentally committing magical acts all over the place, Lee is not yet placed into muggle school like his sister is, and instead is taught by his father. Shane quit his job and became a stay-at-home dad to home school his son, something not particularly heard of at the time; it was during this time that the elder Jordan reconnected with the Wizarding world, learning not only how other wizarding families dealt with things, but also how to best prepare Lee for Hogwarts. Because Mr. Jordan knew that the letter would be coming. And, sure enough, on Lee's 11th birthday in 1988, an owl made its way to the small house in Liverpool to deliver the congratulatory invitation to Hogwarts in September of the next year.

(September, 1989) - Hogwarts seemed bigger than even his father had described, but Lee was ready and eager for it. He was sorted into Gryffindor (to his Ravenclaw father's bemusement) and quickly made friends with students in his class, particularly the Weasley twins, Fred and George. He also met Angelina Johnson, Katie Bell, and Alicia Spinnet, pestering the lovely girls with jokes and amusements and crushes along the way.

School was amazing. He fell right in with the friends he made, joining the Weasley twins in their misadventures with their use of the Marauders' Map. But, in spite of their penchant for mischief, Lee still kept up with his studies.

(1990) - During his first year, Lee fell in love with Quidditch. At first, it was sort of a poor replacement for football, but the more that the kids who were familiar with the game told him (and the more he saw) the more it garnered his attention and admiration. So, during second year, Lee was adamant about trying out with the rest of his friends. It didn't matter that he was only okay at flying. He'd get better! But, to his utmost dismay, the Team Captain did not pick him. And, to make matters worse, all of his friends were picked.

Lee was actually rather heartbroken. So much so that the seventh year commentator for the school matches, in a mixed bout of pity and annoyance, gave the kid a break and allowed him to tag along in the commentator box. After allowing Lee to riff on a practice with him, the commentator put in his recommendation to Professor McGonagall that Lee be allowed to take over the next year. The rest, as they say, is history. Lee spent the entire next summer learning as much as he could about the game.

(1991 to 1995) - Third year began rather quietly, at least for Lee. His best friends' youngest brother was an ickle first year, so Lee spent a bit of time ragging on Ron with the twins. But there were bigger things afoot. First there was Harry Potter, who Lee actually didn't know much about. The kid seemed nice enough and would, later in the year, go on to impress Lee with his wunderkind Quidditch skills. Then there was Lee's spider, which wasn't particularly special. What was special was that Lee figured out the Engorgio spell so well that the spider was huge. He felt pretty proud about that. Also making him proud was having found a secret passageway in school that neither Fred or George had found yet. Though he could always keep up with the twins, it was oftentimes difficult to get one up on them. And, even though Lee wasn't very competitive, it was sometimes still nice to be able to be the one to lead his friends into the unknown adventure.

The quiet came in ebbs and flows, because third year had a troll being released in the castle and bloody Slytherin cheating their asses off in Quidditch matches. The troll, while interesting, wasn't the important part. What was important was that Slytherin's shiesty ways be called out. McGonagall sort of disagreed, reining Lee and his comments (she called it ranting) in.

Fourth year also began quietly, with more games and Slytherin's new Seeker having bought his way in. Ugh. But things got more serious during the later year, with some other students having been Petrified by some monster. Lee, putting two and two together, realised that none of the students were of the Slytherin house. He believed then that the so-called Heir of Slytherin was obviously from the man's own House. Imagine his shock and worry when it turned out to be George and Fred's youngest sibling, Ginny Weasley. He felt awful.

Fifth year was Lee's introduction to Dementors, one introduction he would have been completely fine without. But it was the summer in between fifth and sixth year that really got to him. His father, having caught Lee's enthusiasm for Quidditch a year or two ago and rekindling his own love for the game, scored tickets to the World Quidditch Cup and took the family to see a professional game. It was amazing. What was not amazing was the fact that Mr. Jordan was swindled by Ludo Bagman. Less amazing, and more frightening, was the attack of Death Eaters on the spectators. Up until that point, Lee had not understood the fear and hushed tones that were taken when talking about darker times. This brush with it made it all too real now.

However, in spite of the seriousness at hand, Lee brushed it all off and continued on with his life. At the time, it included helping the Weasley brothers put their plans of a joke shop into forward movement, and also help them create an aging potion. The Tri-Wizard Tournament was being held at Hogwarts, effectively cancelling Quidditch for the season. But Lee and his two friends had the idea of trying out for the Tournament. Just one catch. You had to be seventeen, and Lee was three months off from it. Fred and George were seven months off. So they created a potion that would age them just enough to be able to enter their names. And it worked! Sort of. It definitely made the three boys older, but the twins (who stepped over the magical age-recognition line found out the hard way that it backfired. Lee laughed all the way to Madame Pomfrey's with the newly-made old men Weasleys. Somehow, Harry Potter managed to get in, which was pretty damn ace of the kid.

The end of that year, and the end of the Tournament, brought another sobering moment. Cedric Diggory, a fine Quidditch player, died. And it was Harry who brought him back. More sobering was the next year, Lee's final one. What should have been an amazing year was fraught with stress and upset. Dolores Umbridge took over as Defense Against Dark Arts , creating an environment where no actual learning could take place. Lee joined the secret club that Harry and his friends created, dubbed Dumbledore's Army, to actually learn defensive and offensive magic. He burst out against Umbridge's idiocy as well, leading to writing lines with a Blood Quill, which left a scar that he still sported. But the real kicker was when the Weasley twins left Hogwarts. They left in effing style, man. But it was just so quiet and depressing afterward.

Lee tried to do his part, take up their mantle as prankster, but it backfired horrendously when he let the nifflers loose in Umbridge's office and she sacked Hagrid because of it. All in all, Lee graduated from Hogwarts without fanfare and got a job at the Wizarding Wireless Network as a gopher.

(1997 - 1998) Time passed and things took a turn for the dark. Sometime during this time, Lee left his job, angry and frustrated with the fact that they didn't report what was really going on and just helped the Weasley twins in their joke shop. But it was when he was ranting to them that he had a brilliant idea. If the actual reporters wouldn't do their job, why couldn't he? He returned home, somewhere that he purposely stayed away from in order to keep his family safe, long enough to piece together his own broadcasting radio. Once the equipment was in place, Lee became a pirate and created Potterwatch, aptly named to report on the news of the Order of the Phoenix and Harry Potter himself. He took the alias River and kept the good guys abreast during a time where the bad guys had all the power.

(May 2, 1998) The coin. The coin that Hermione Granger had charmed to notify Dumbledore's Army of a practice was what led him back to Hogwarts when the fight came to a head. On May 2nd, Lee joined his friends to fight Voldemort and the Death Eaters.

It was a difficult battle, but they emerged victorious. And not without their losses. Lee saw that they lost Remus Lupin, a co-host on his broadcast and the best damn professor he had ever had, as well as his wife, Tonks. But the one that hurt the most was, without a doubt, the loss of Fred Weasley. And he almost lost George too. In fact, for a while, he did.

Lee helped his friends out where he could, just making sure to be there for them all and allowing them to be there for him whenever it was needed. He helped out from time to time at the joke shop and went back to the Wireless for another job in radio as well. When a manager realised that Lee was the infamous River, he was offered a position as a DJ. And, a few years later, Lee was offered his own show. Time had a way of healing everything. Including those who were most broken. As he added his friends into his shows -- plugs about Ange's Quidditch shop and a whole bit where he and George would just riff on each other, talks about the amazingness of Katie, Alicia, and Oliver on the pitch -- he saw his friends start to mend.

No more was that true as with George and Angelina. They grew closer and, though Lee loudly protested that they were taking away his redhead AND his chocolate goddess from him, he was as encouraging as ever. They encouragement came to the best sort of fruition with little Fred the Second, F'ed, Fig, whatever he was called. And it was off to watch the little F'edlet that Lee was heading off to when he instead took the Floo to...an isolated island. Damn it.

baggage
baggage

Please list 6-10 pieces of emotional baggage, describe their impact on your character’s life, and provide us with an idea of how they might be resolved in game. Examples include fears, sins, regrets, unrealized dreams, unlearned lessons, latent desires, unsettled grudges and personal losses.

  • Acknowledging the "Dark Side" - Lee loves his friends with every fiber in his being, which was a good thing. What wasn't always a good thing was him trying to keep up the bright and smiley nature for them at his own expense. To get anywhere, Lee has to start with acknowledging that he even has baggage and be willing to face it instead of laughing it off.

  • Survivor's Guilt - Though Lee has moved on from the belief that he should have been the one left behind (instead of, say, Fred, or the Lupins), it doesn't necessarily mean that he was completely over it. Talking to those who did not survive and seeing that they were okay on the island, seeing them start the lives that were cut short, will help alleviate the guilt.

  • What to do with himself - Without radio or Quidditch, Lee will be at a bit of a loss (or a lot of a loss, really) as what to do. He will, of course, have his friends and whatever hijinks they get into, but will need to figure out something else with which to occupy his time. Helping out on the island will do good, but Lee will ultimately need to find something that he feels passionate about other than Quidditch or radio work.

  • Fickle as hell - When in a real relationship, Lee is fickle as hell. It wasn't necessarily that he had high standards, though there was that, but more so that he was unsure that he wanted someone new in his life. Having lost people in his life previously, Lee was afraid to open up to new people. Creating new relationships on the island, whether romantic or platonic, will remind Lee that he has enough heart and love to include as many people as he wants in his life.

  • Dealing with Authority - Lee still has a problem with authority and chafes against it when he goes head to head with someone in an authoritative position. He needs to learn that just because someone is in that position doesn't mean that they're looking to abuse it. Getting to know the Mentors and understanding both their function and reasoning will help prove that the Man isn't always out to get them.

  • Being in front of a proverbial crowd - As Lee's gotten older, and thanks to his radio show, he has gotten used to having a bit of an audience. With radio, and said audience, taken away, Lee is going to have to find another way to get his attention fix. It doesn't honestly take much to tend to that particular craving, so a simple nite of some silly karaoke or comedy should do the trick. The hard part will be Lee actually coming to terms with the fact that he has gotten used to that particular aspect of his life. He would never have called himself attention-seeking before. Attention to this may or may not be tied in with the fact that he will return to the best friend of best friends, what with Fred and George together again.

    rewards

Please list the items which, along with their wand, would motivate your character to open future pieces of luggage. These can consist of any object that possesses practical or sentimental value, such as a photo album, a favourite book, collected love letters from their significant other, and anything else you deem appropriate. Including their wand, list as many items as baggage items.

  • Wand
  • DA Coin – Lee kept the coin, which was part of the reason he received the call to help Hogwarts. It was a reminder of what they had all been through and how strong the all were.
  • His radio equipment - Lee feels the most at home when he's behind a microphone. And though it may not work on the island, he would feel more motivated to get his shit together with it in hopes that some kind of magic would happen and he gets to broadcast again.
  • Photo Album – a photo album of his friends and family throughout the years.
  • His annotated Quidditch Through the Ages - When Lee got into the game, he asked his father for the book and jotted down everything anyone ever wanted to know throughout the pages.
  • Gryffindor tie - In spite of the last year, Hogwarts held many good memories for Lee.

Please answer the following questions in character.

  • What was the last lie you told?
I don’t remember. But then again, it likely wasn’t a LIE. It was a joke! A jooooooke.

  • What do you think about the most: the past, the present or the future? Why?
This is a shit question. They’re all of equal importance. How can you move forward to the future if you don’t remember where you came from? How do you actually LIVE in the present if you’re not actively honouring or changing your past and looking to the future?

  • How do you feel about socks?
Is this a euphemism for something?

  • Would you rather be gossiped about or never talked about?
Gossiped about, of course. No press is bad press.

  • If you were the opposite sex for a day, what would you look like and what would you do?
I’d be a sexalicious chocolate queen, loved and adored by all. And I would be eating all of it up.
