"Not helping Ptonomy," David looked to Ptonomy-as-Melanie for a moment before looking up to Syd with a shrug. "I kept my powers somehow, I don't know why." Despite speaking with her voice, a voice in his own mind spoke up, enlightening to that whole situation.
Like hell I was going to let this place go boom. What a goddamned saint. It was good thinking. Oh don't start kissing ass now, for God's sake...
Eyes rolled, the previous consensus now lost and everyone making their opinions and need for separate conversation known, he tried shaking his head clear of it, pushing back up to stand as Oliver-as-Ptonomy tended to Melanie. Bringing a hand up to rest gently on Syd-as-himself's arm, he asked, "Okay? Just keep breathing. We'll figure this out." Inside he was freaking out, but now was not the time to show that -- shame Syd's hand, powered by his stupid brain, was a little shaky with all the nerves.
Looking around, David checked in on everyone individually. "Rudy, you okay? Try to turn the volume down if it's obnoxious." Rudy-as-Oliver nodded, moving to sit, eyes closing to do just that, cool as ever. "Ptonomy, you're just gonna have to suck it up and deal with being a normal person until we figure this out." Ptonomy-as-Melanie looked extremely annoyed, but otherwise didn't comment further. And then, looking at the Loudermilks, David couldn't help but chuckle a little. "Of course you two would switch with each other. I bet it'd feel awful otherwise." Cary-as-Kerry nodded in agreement, moving to push up glasses that didn't exist, moving to do it for Kerry-as-Cary, who laughed.
Eyes back on the ground, David fidgeted, wringing Syd's hands together. "How is she?" Oliver-as-Ptonomy looked up then, New Zealand accent weirdly blending with Ptonomy's voice to say, "I can't speak with her properly, not with this style of telepathy, but she was understandably panicked before she passed out. She'll be all right. Just needs a bit of time for the system shock to ease up."
System shock. Hell of a way of putting it. David moved to wring his hands through his hair, only to stop when a great deal more hair was in the way, immediately stopping the mussing up that usually happened in such holy shit situations. "Okay." Eyes back on Syd, David took in a deep breath and fidgeted again. "Couple hours? We can do this for a couple hours. No problem, right?"
