"Teaches me for not listening to you," she replied with a smile, musing at how her voice in her own ears matched up with listening to her voice outside of her ears. She didn't speak as deeply as she thought. Huh! And, obviously, wasn't as rumbly-vibrating as the even-deeper voice of David was.
Okay. Helping hand. Safe and sound in their cozy hiding place. She hummed a little, trying to both go over what she had done and yet not overthink the matter, and then nodded. "I can do this." And, if not, she could get her ass up and go visit everyone to do it face-to-face. Shaking her shoulders a little -- it took even Syd a moment or two to get used to her own skin again -- she closed her eyes again and tried to do the same thing for everyone else that she had for them. Each body was pictured in her brain, and slowly, she started nudging them all back to their proper places.
It took a little longer, but there were more of them. And as soon as Syd felt that she had everybody in order, like finishing the picture in one of those sliding tile puzzles, she peered at David curiously. And hopefully. "If I messed up again, I'm hiding in here for a week." Just so he knew.
