See, this is why I love the Brits
Long Way Down is available for pre-order at Amazon before the show has even started airing. I'm gonna hold off on ordering for a while, see if it drops in price. (PotC: AWE dropped three pounds between the time I added it to my wish list to the time I ordered it. Which was five minutes ago. When I also ordered Becoming Jane. I have no will power whatsoever.)

I'm ridiculously behind on my 100 Movies in 2007 thing. I guess having some time while I was on vacation made me gravitate towards TV shows instead, and now I'm having a hard time getting back into the swing of things. That said, I'm watching Zoolander right now.

I'm not bothered in the least that KB is going to be on the show. I actually think she's a good actress (yes, still), and that the writing was the main culprite in my problems with Veronica as a character. Sure, I think KB putting more vulnerability into the part could have helped immensely, but that's only because the characterization was well...not good.

Actually, the more I think about season 3 Veronica, the more I realize that my problem isn't really the characterization. (I have much bigger ones with Veronica in early to mid season 2. That Veronica I just don't GET. At all.) The problem is the disconnect between what I see and what I think the writers were trying to do. I think season 3 Veronica is a fascinating portrait of someone on a downward spiral, becoming more and more reckless and heading for complete and utter disaster.

And I don't think that was the writers' intention at all. (And I cannot understand why a writer wouldn't find that interesting, but that ship sailed long ago.) Of course, the good thing about the show being over is that I don't have to care about those intentions anymore.

Okay, you guys, what is up with these new moods I'm getting? "*drool*, *thud*, Suicidal, On Top of the World?" Does this mean that all our old mood themes are going to be outdated/have to be redone? Because I love my AD mood theme like burning, but [info]anniesj isn't really around these days and I doubt she's going to update it.

I agree about most of the fault going to the writers for the trends we saw in S3. I think some of the directors can probably take a little of the blame, as well. I still have a lot of love for KB (I just rewatched S1 and it helped me remember exactly how groundbreaking it was for me, and how much everyone just owned the parts they played except Teddy Dunn--I'll never think he was anything more than mediocre and nailed the characterizations time and time again.

Wow, I can still fangirl over this show. For a while there I thought S3 had drained all of the love out of me.

I have much bigger ones with Veronica in early to mid season 2. That Veronica I just don't GET. At all.

SO there with you on that one. I've heard so many people try to fanwank an explanation for her behavior and I've just never bought any of it. She was just so not-Veronica. It actually took me a while to start regularly watching VM again, after I saw the first couple eps of S2. The quality of the show itself was still pretty excellent, though, so I let it lure me back.

I don't have much to say about S3 in general. I just prefer to pretend that it doesn't exist.

But Heroes and Kristen? I'm really looking forward to it, and I think KB will do a great job, as long as she can remember not to phone it in. We'll see, I guess.

Yeah, a lot of things went wrong, but in the end, the storylines didn't lead to (what I felt was) the natural conclusion, they just ended up nowhere.

For me, I don't think season 3 drained my love at all (because it made me think and in many ways the characterizations worked for me), but everything surrounding the show killed any desire I had to talk about it.

I think Veronica's characterization in early season 2 could have worked if it had all been her repressing the past two years as if they'd never happened, but no, they just completely screwed up the character for no reason.

I think KB can do a great job, but it's not like she'll stand out if she's off a bit. Heroes doesn't exactly have the most stellar cast (though some are excellent), I mostly just watch it because I think it's fun. =)
