Appearance Eyes: Blue Hair: Blonde Height: 5’3” Build: Extremely athletic. Toned. Slender to average weight because muscle ;) Distinguishing Features: Katie doesn't really think of herself as having any distinguishing features, being what she considers a "cliche, stock photo blonde hair blue eyed girl." But she would be more than happy to show you one of her many scars! She has a lot of those from over the years. Various sports injuries. Klutzy incidents. One or two might of been on purpose out of curiosity. She also has one muggle tattoo on her upper right thigh to commemorate her deep love for Pink Floyd that her mother took her to get as a secret on a mother daughter outing. Mannerisms: Usually seen messing with her hair, twirling, pulling, putting it up and down. She usually has a lot of over the top facial expressions and gestures, causing her to knock over a lot of things, trip, accidentally hit people etc. She also usually alternates between smiling brightly and resting bitch face. The latter means she's deep in some sort of thought, not that she's annoyed or angry, for the record. Manner of Dress: Katie has a pretty relaxed style, usually going for jeans and some kind of t-shirt, usually ratty, but not always. On occasion during the summer, she can be seen rocking a sun dress, though she looks slightly awkward in it, and is usually seen pulling on her skirt to make sure it isn't stuck in her underwear or something. Only rarely does she dress up, dress up.
Personality Strengths: Physical strength, stamina, team player, hard working, self motivated, friendly, funny, social, daring, passionate, resourceful, energetic, decent at dueling Weaknesses: Putting her trust in the wrong people, her daring nature is both a strength and a weakness, knowing when to quit, thinking before she speaks, her judgement. Likes: Quidditch. Dark Chocolate. Flying. Sports and games. Hanging out with friends. Laughing. Talking. Bonfires. Beer. Late nights. Working hard. Riding motorcycles. Building motorcycles. Dislikes: Defeat. Showing weakness. Death Eaters and Lord Voldemort. Crying. Diets. Cabbage. Complainers. Getting up early (she does it for Quidditch and Quidditch alone). Wearing heels. Stairs, sharp corners, and cracks between anything because she usually trips or falls on or hurts herself somehow. In-depth: While Katie truly is an exceptionally good intentioned and kind individual, that doesn’t always mean it translates properly into reality. Even at a young age, Katie managed to blabber on about anything and everything that came to mind, even if it was slightly inappropriate and in very public places like a restaurant or a grocery store. She suffers from what most would call endless foot in mouth syndrome, and is constantly spending most of her time sheepishly apologizing for her terrible lack of a filter between her brain and her mouth. She manages to get away with it most of the time, if only because those around her truly understand that her heart is in the right place, but her head doesn’t always follow immediately behind. That isn’t to say she’s slow or anything either, really on a intelligence scale Katie ranks exceptionally average, which is fine by her. But what she lacks in passion for her studies, she fully makes up for in competitiveness, cooperation, what she calls “street smarts” and physical skill. It’s also safe to assume that Katie has a slightly obsessive personality as well, but not necessarily in a bad way. She’s just very driven. Over the years she has fostered a close companionship with a multitude of sports, pouring time, effort, and sweat into each of them equally. But Quidditch of course came out on top, right next to rugby. Internally, she knows she’s not cut out for a life of normal work, and is trying her hardest to push her skills to their absolute peak, allowing her to be on par with the professionals. Though even though her sporting life absorbs a lot of her time, Katie is still an extremely social and friendly individual. She tries her hardest to know the name of absolutely every individual, and get to know them on at least some level. At the very least so she knows if she should never speak to you again. And even though Katie has a lot of close friends, namely Angelina and Alicia, she also is known as one of the boys. She’s not afraid to get down and dirty, make ridiculous bets, try to outdrink her mates, have a burping contest. Katie is totally down for all of these things making her a rather lively individual, but also one perhaps a person with a bit more class may from upon. Katie doesn’t particularly care though. She knows she can’t please everyone, so while she would never go out of her way to make conflict, she doesn’t try to make people like her either. She figures it’s a waste of time. Katie is also a bit of an adrenaline junky as well, which she thinks somehow sparked from her passion in semi rough and extreme sports. She’s been bungee jumping, hang gliding, sky diving, and of course broom flying. She loves being in the sky, loves flying. Every single moment of it. Sometimes people actually have to convince her to come down from her perch on her broom after she’s been riding around and taking in the scenery for hours. On many occasions as well she takes her camera. Especially in their tumultuous times, Katie fully realizes that time is short. She realizes that Lord Voldemort is back, and is trying not to take any good times for granted. But even before she was constantly carrying around a camera, capturing not only natural scenery, but moments with her best friends as well. Katie could probably fill her entire dorm room with photos of those she cares about. Lastly, for all her mostly definitive and good qualities, Katie has some serious flaws as well. For one, her inability to think about future consequences sometimes puts her in dangerous predicaments. She’s the one who might take a dare that’s a little too dangerous for even the toughest of guys, or decide to eat that weird “delicacy” from the shady food truck vendor in a foreign country because you only live once! She also has a habit of trusting people too much, leaving her open to getting hurt and used on more than one occasion, cutting her quite deeply. Although she tries not to be malicious after being wronged, that doesn’t mean the betrayal doesn’t resonate with her on a deep and personal level. To a rather large degree, a lot of her dependency on the euphoria that an extra amazing win or a particularly large adrenaline rush fosters rests on her inability to come to terms with her own inner issues. A coping mechanism, more than anything else. That’s why her friends are so important and she keeps them so close. They help balance her, and she tries her best to do whatever she can for them.
History Top Five Defining Moments: 1. Making Gryffindor Quidditch team her 2nd year 2. Winning the Quidditch cup for the first time 4th year 3. Cedric Diggory’s death and Harry Potter claiming the return of Lord Voldemort 4. Joining the DA 5. Being cursed by the necklace Biggest Secret: Katie internally feels like Avalon is somehow her punishment or reward for promising her soul to the devil when she was under the influence of the cursed necklace. She feels silly for feeling that way, but she can't help but remember exactly what went on in her mind while she was unconscious. Also, she still has phantom pains that shoot through her body on occasion as a side effect from the curse. Common Knowledge: Pretty much everyone is aware Katie is a chaser for the Gryffindor Quidditch team and that her future dream is to go pro no matter how hard she has to push herself or what she has to give up to achieve it. In-depth: Katie was the only child of Katherine and Robert Bell, who were absolutely thrilled with their daughter's arrival. Now even though both of her parents were magical, Katie's mother Katherine was a muggleborn witch, and Robert was a halfblood wizard, allowing for her to grow up with a foot in both the magical and muggle realm. She grew up in a muggle neighborhood, had muggle friends, rode in muggle cars and went to muggle sporting events. But on the other side, she grew up attending Quidditch matches, playing Wizard's Chess and Exploding Snap. She visited Diagon Alley and rode with her father deep inside Gringott's Wizarding Bank. So she had a very good grasp of what it meant to be both by the time she was able to comprehend her surroundings and beyond. Growing up, she was never really bored and spend a vast majority of her time being social, much like her parents, as well as getting along with neighborhood kids, cousins, friends, pretty much everyone, fostering early on important social skills as well as making strong ties with those around her. It was a lucky thing she started talking at such a young age and allowed her to start in on this so early, but this also caused a bit of a problem for a while. Katie seemed to have this uncanny ability to say exactly the wrong thing at exactly the wrong time. Or at the very least, her child mind would make a blatant observation that happens to be rather rude. "Mummy, why is that man wearing a dress? Daddy, why is that woman bald?" The worst part is Katie was an overly loud child, so when she asked a question, most people in an immediate radius heard it. She grew up always being told to quiet down or use her inside voice, though she never really understood what they meant. That was her inside voice, that's just how she talked. Even today she can't really tell the difference between most of her friend's normal tone of voice and her own, even though hers is usually twice as loud. Though that changed a bit when she went to Gryffindor. A vast majority of her male friends were rather loud, after all. It was safe to say Katie grew up a happy and stimulated child, though she never really had much of an interest in books or art. Katie preferred physical activities to mental, and she spent a great deal of time playing sports with the neighborhood boys, playing in dirt, digging up bugs, breaking things, as well as a few spats with individuals here and there. But she grew out of that for the most part, realizing that fighting never really solved anything, only making most situations worse. Instead she tried her best to kill people with kindness, unless there was something really, really wrong with them. Even then, she did her best to avoid and ignore than delve head first into confrontation. That just isn't Katie. Plus, the first time she sparked magic she was in the middle of an altercation with a boy down the street and he ended up flying backwards ten feet and slamming into a fence. He was mostly okay, besides being utterly terrified and a mild concussion, and Katie felt absolutely awful. One of her most defining moments wasn't until her ninth birthday when her father took Katie to her first Quidditch game. Her entire world basically changed in those exciting hours. Now the young girl had loved sports before this, but never before had she been as taken and dazzled as she was with Quidditch. Not only were they beyond skilled, they were flying. FLYING. She knew what Quidditch was before this but to actually see it for real? How could any sport ever get any better than that? On their way home, Katie did nothing else but pester her father to buy her a broom as soon as possible. Though the Bells did not believe in spoiling their daughter, they gave in rather quickly and Katie spent whatever time her parents allowed flying and practicing. Her father had been on the Quidditch team for a year or two when he was back in school, and often times he would join in with her, allowing for a scrimmage partner. Most of her time until she received her letter was spent in this exact way, peppered with small family vacations and activities. But when her letter did come? Even though she always knew, she still flipped out in excitement, jumping up and down, before catching her foot on the rug and falling on her face. But she didn't care. Because she was going to Hogwarts. She would try out for the team there, and nothing was going to stop her from making it. As the first day of school arrived, Katie couldn't contain her enthusiasm. She nearly bounced her entire way to the train, all smiles as she said goodbye to her parents and started her new adventure. She was sorted into Gryffindor, much to her delight and she settled into her new house quite easily. Though she knew first years usually didn't make the house team, that didn't stop her from practicing herself as well as attending Gryffindor practices as a spectator. It was also this year that she befriended fellow housemates Alicia and Angelina, who were a year above her but happened to share her passion for quidditch and they all quickly became mostly inseparable. Several somewhat big events happened her second year. One was the famous Harry Potter arriving at school and being brought on to the Gryffindor team. The second was Katie had managed to make the team herself and was able to play alongside her two best friends. She was absolutely ecstatic and it was hard for her to contain her enthusiasm. Though her first match against Slytherin (of course) went sort of lousy when she got a bludger to the back of her head. She managed to hold out though and finish the game, though Madame Pomfrey scolded her about it later. Apparently she had been playing with a somewhat serious concussion the entire time. But Katie didn't care, she was just happy she managed to finish the game and that much more determined to better her skills. She spent the remainder of the year settling into her life at Hogwarts, making friends, and practicing as much as possible. Of course the entire incident with Professor Quirrell and Harry Potter freaked her out a bit, but she tried not to think much on it, hoping the situation was taken care of. Summer passed without too much excitement, and during her third year at Hogwarts, several key events took place. For one, she witnessed for the first time the extent of Pureblood bigotry when Draco Malfoy called Hermione Granger a mudblood. She was sort of mad at herself she didn't speak up and say anything before Ron tried to curse him, but she was also so shocked she couldn't form words quick enough. After that, she had a particularly bad taste in her mouth about Malfoy, and did her best to avoid him and any of his Slytherin friends. She didn't want to see the entire house as a bad bunch, but more and more bad apples were starting to creep out and that was not a good sign. But aside from that particular negative event, Katie, as well as her friends, couldn't be happier about the fact Gilderoy Lockheart was their new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher. And the minute word got out about dueling club, Katie was one of the first to put her name on the list. She loved competition and challenge, and it was only made better by the fact a particularly handsome professor was teaching it. He even threw his cloak into the crowd and Angelina managed to snag it, though not without a bit of a fight from Katie and Alicia. It all seemed to be going well until Draco and Harry fought, and the entire ordeal with the snake took place. Katie wasn't exactly sure how she felt after it all, but she also didn't believe that Harry was telling the snake to attack Justin. She knew him, they were team mates! He wouldn't do a thing like that. Even after the attacks started, terrifying the entire school, Katie still refused to believe Harry had anything to do with it. Katie also managed to come down with a serious case of Mumblebumps, and spent a lot of her time locked up in the hospital wing instead of practicing, much to her dismay. But even through all the bad, the year managed to end up okay for the most part. But Katie promised to herself next year... next year would be great. It seemed Oliver Wood also shared her passion in that sense, kicking practice up a million notches her fourth year, determined to win. In Katie's opinion, she played a freaking brilliant season. And even though they lost to Hufflepuff (by no fault of their own at all, freaking Dementors), their season finally ended in sweet victory. Katie couldn't have been happier and rode a ridiculous high the entire summer. It was also this summer that her parents took a trip to America, accompanied by Katie. They were there for almost a month, and in that time she developed a somewhat serious crush on the son of one of her father's colleagues. He was a bit older than her, just having turned sixteen when she arrived, and he had an infatuation with building and riding motorcycles. Katie was instantly enamored, and spent most of her time learning everything he could teach her, riding around on the back of his bike, letting the wind whip through her hair. The loved the speed, the freedom. It reminded her of flying in a lot of ways and she was hooked. It didn't help that she was also hooked on her instructor, and by the end of the summer she had gotten her first kiss, and her first taste of heartbreak. It was okay though. He lived in the United States, she lived in England. There was really no way to make it work anyway. When she returned for fifth year, Katie was absolutely devastated to learn that there would be no Quidditch. The first few weeks after the announcement of the Triwizard tournament she spent in an annoyed and angry haze, but eventually managed to work herself out of it. When Harry was named fourth champion, Katie gave him her full support. After all, he was a fellow team mate, Gryffindor, and friend. But it was more than that. He was fourteen and participating in a tournament Katie wouldn't touch with a ten foot pole. That took a hell of a lot of guts, and she respected the hell out of that. Plus, Cedric was the other champion. She couldn't help but foster feelings of resentment and their win the previous year. By the end of the tournament, Katie was actually somewhat okay with the idea of no Quidditch for the entertainment they were all receiving, and she felt guilty that she even had that feeling once when Harry Potter brought back Cedric Diggory's body. She felt horrible for ever being mad at him, she felt horrible it had happened, and most importantly, she was somewhat afraid. What happened? It didn't take long for their headmaster to answer the question, and Katie went into the summer of her sixth year with the information that Lord Voldemort had returned. The idea chilled her to the very core, and she tried her best not to act like a cowardly shut in the entire holiday. She challenged herself to continue living her life, and refused to believe the slander of the papers. She was on Harry and Dumbledore's side, all the way. Even if it was a somewhat unpopular opinion. As school began her sixth year, Angelina was named Quidditch captain and she couldn't have been happier for her. She became closer with her team mates Fred and George as well, though she got a little salty at Fred when he slipped her some nose bleed joke pill when Ron hit her in the face with a Quaffle. She made both Fred and George carry her to the hospital wing, and was slightly cross with them for a few weeks afterwards. But Katie wasn't one to hold a grudge, and she forgave them quickly enough. Katie also may have had one of her first incredibly serious relationships with a Ravenclaw this year. Honestly, she was damn sure it was the first time she fell in love. But it ended in utter disaster, and he stepped on her heart in so many ways possible, leaving her bruised and raw on the inside, only upping her need to keep herself busy. To find distractions. It was also in this year that Delores Umbridge started her reign of terror, which in some way was helpful on the distraction forefront. Katie was thrilled when she joined Dumbledore's Army, feeling an adrenaline rush at the idea of defying that bitch's authority and learning some awesome magic. Quidditch was also pretty tumultuous and full of drama, much to the dismay of Katie. It didn't help that at the close of the semester, she had to say goodbye to her to best friends who were graduating. There was a lot of tear and a lot of unhappiness, but Katie made her friends promise to keep and touch and visit as often as they could. As summer reached full swing, Katie started to notice the negative shifts happening in the magical world. Voldemort was finally confirmed as being back. Bad things started to happen. A feeling of fear settled over the muggle and magical world alike. Katie hated it, and her parents really thought about not letting her return to school. But Katie assured them everything would be okay, even if she wasn't so sure herself. But she was nothing if not brave, and she went into her last year with her head held high. It seemed like a fairly normal year at first, in all honesty. She was a bit devastated when she didn't make captain, but she did her best to be happy for Harry. He probably deserved it more anyway. She didn't want his favoritism, and tried out for her spot on the team all over again much like everyone else. Thankfully she retained her position, and spent the next several weeks in contentment. Maybe that was her fault, what she did wrong. October arrived rather quickly, and though she wasn't sure she wanted to go at all, her friend Leann convinced her to come along to Hogsmeade. Though she was a bit resistant, she finally relented. They stopped into the Three Broomsticks, and Katie left for a moment to go to the bathroom. That was the last thing she remembers before terrible, terrible, excruciating agony. It felt like it would never end, and internally, Katie begged for death. She screamed for it. Even when she was no longer conscious on the outside, she continued to suffer from the cursed necklace on the inside. It almost broke her mind, and she made deal after deal with god, the devil, any entity that might exist that she would gladly sell her soul for just one moment of peace. Though she had absolutely no sense of time, when she did wake up she was in Avalon, with Merlin standing in front of her trying to explain what had happened.
