| THE BASICS! FULL NAME: Jason Leon Richards AGE & DOB: 39/July 25th Race: Born Werelion HOMETOWN: Chicago, IL OCCUPATION:: Lieutenant in charge of the Supernatural Crime Unit MARTIAL STATUS: Widower | ||
APPEARANCE! Weep for yourself, my man, You'll never be what is in your heart. Jason stands 5'8". He's extremely well muscled and has a very powerful physique, with broad shoulders and a barrel chest. Stout is a good word for him. His thick light brown hair is worn long, often past his shoulders. He usually wears it loose, but will tie it back into a ponytail if he needs it out of his way. He has wide set dark blue eyes, a short, broad nose and wide, thin lips. His skin is darkly tanned. There is often a smattering of stubble on his face, he does shave, it just doesn't do much good. He prefers comfortable street clothes while working, his wardrobe staples are tee shirts, button downs, blue jeans and motorcycle boots. He carries a Ruger SR40c pistol when working and a boot knife, even though he's perfectly capable of defending himself in hand to hand combat His lion form is as burly as his human form, weighing in at nearly half a ton and six feet long. He has a thick mane of tawny fur slightly darker than the rest of his pelt.
PERSONALITY! Weep Little Lion Man, You're not as brave as you were at the start. Jason is the ultimate alpha male. He is used to being in charge or at least being allowed to make his own judgment calls. He doesn't like having his authority challenged, which has made having not one, but three teenage daughters even more stress than it could be. He isn't the best mediator and generally ends most of their arguments telling all of his daughters to shut up and go to their rooms. He's a bit henpecked, to say the least. He's got a fun loving side and a good sense of humor, and tries to divide what free time he has between his three daughters as much as he can. Which never is enough it seems. He is a very overprotective, hypervigilant, paranoid father. His girls are the most important people in his life and he defends them viciously. He has sheltered them from a lot of the evils of the world, yet had done his best to teach them to protect themselves from those same issues. He's been teaching them all self-defense weekly for the last eight years. While his pride of lionesses can overwhelm and frustrate him, Jason wouldn't trade it for a minute of peace. His daughters are his life. At work he's decisive and together. He's very observant and misses very few details. Jason has no qualms about using all his were senses to his advantage when investigating a case. While he looks like the typical big, dumb brute, he's actually very intelligent and cunning. He will play any role he needs to for information gathering, although intimidation is his skill par excellence. He considers his fellow officers extended pride, and while he's bossy and sometimes condescending with less experienced co-workers, he means well. Jason doesn't allow himself any weakness. Too many people depend on him, especially his daughters. Being a were helps, but even emotionally he shuts it down when he feels overwhelmed, hurt, scared or anything that he considers weak. He has a nasty temper when roused, but a fairly long fuse. His patience with other people can be short, he's more likely to do things himself if he thinks someone is doing something wrong. He's very self-reliant and feels responsible for pretty much everyone and everything around him. He's extremely loyal once befriended and takes betrayal extremely personally. Me time for Jason is napping in front of the TV. He tries spend time with his daughters, although his work often interferes. He is group minded, planning family activities for his pride, involving them as much as possible. Above everything, Jason is a family man and they're never far from his thoughts.
STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES! Rate yourself and rake yourself, Take all the courage you have left. STRENGTHS: Physical Powerhouse: Partially because he is a male werelion, which makes him one of the biggest and strongest of werebeasts, the rest is because of the time he spends working out and training. Jason is in peak physical condition and has spent his life building his own fighting style based on his physical prowess. He's a devastating opponent in any form. WEAKNESSES: Responsibility: Jason has three daughters and a demanding job. His time is rarely his own and he spends a lot of time being pulled in a dozen different directions. He regularly gets overwhelmed by the pressure, loses his temper and overreacts. Worse still, he feels he is responsible for everyone and everything around him, so he takes any setback or injury personally as well. Stubborn: Jason is bull headed and stubborn as they come. His way is the right way and the worst thing someone can do is prove him wrong. Which has only just made dealing with his daughters worse, since they're being teenagers and challenging his authority constantly. All or nothing: He either throws his all into something or just doesn't do it. Part of it is his lion's nature, he really would rather be lounging around napping in the sun than anything else. So when he does put his mind to doing something, it gets done right the hell now, don't interrupt him or God help you. When he doesn't want to do something, he ignores it, puts it off and basically avoids doing it as much as he can. And once again, he'd rather be napping anyway.
BIOGRAPHY! Wasted on fixing all the problems That you made in your own head. Jason Richards is the middle child of Joseph and Louise Richards. He has an older sister Jacqueline and a younger sister Joanne. His father was a bodyguard for a big wig excuative who liked to globe trot. On a trip to Africa, they were camping in the desert during the full moon. A werelion attacked their camp, killing several members and maiming Joseph badly. He survived, the attack was blamed on a pair of rogue maneating lions. The next full moon was a wakeup call for the man and he took the drastic measure of having his own brother who worked at zoo as a janitor lock him up in the isolation cages. Jason was the first child born after his father was cursed. His father was afraid his son would suffer the same way he did, but instead he found out his children were born weres. While the full moons with lion cubs weren't easy, it was better than having to deal with baby monsters. He grew up fairly normally, he never got mixed up in drugs or gangs. Jason played football and lacrosse in high school. That's where he met his sweetheart Jennifer Rowan. She was a cheerleader and gorgeous and everything he'd ever wanted in a girl. He fell hard and had no problem charming the pants off his dream girl. Literally. Which ended up with Jen pregnant when they were both seventeen. Their first daughter Chloe was born just after they graduated from high school. Foregoing school in favor of working for his father's security company, the couple moved into the basement of Jason's parents house. Jen quickly became pregnant again. Hannah was born ten months after her older sister. A third daughter, Grace, was born a little over a year after Hannah. Jason, concerned about job security and his too quickly growing family, enrolled in the police academy. As with anything he put his all into, graduated with raving referrals from his instructors. He quickly made a name for himself and was assigned to the Violent Crimes Unit. The hours were horrible and the work was dangerous, but the pay allowed them to move out of his parents' house and rent a small house. Life for the young Richards' family was hardly idyllic. Jen was overwhelmed with handling three baby werelionesses. His mother tried to help, but Mama Lou was overbearing and opinionated and added to Jen's stress as much as she helped ease her burden. Jason was rarely home, getting called into work at all hours and trying to catch sleep and time with them when he could as he clawed his way up the insular ladder of the Chicago police department. Cracks in their marriage appeared quickly, although neither of them really had the time or energy to even do much but argue a little. Then things got really bad. Jason's father broke loose during the full moon and had to be killed after mauling a couple of people to death. It was blamed as a sick lion who was recuperating at the zoo had gotten loose and had to be euthanized. His father's death was explained away to others as a sudden heart attack. Jason took his father's death badly, withdrawing into himself and throwing himself into his work. Just as he was finally starting to get over his father's death and try to work on fixing his marriage, Jennifer was diagnosed with cancer. It was severe and aggressive, resisting treatment. She died less than a year, just before Chloe turned eight. Jason was devastated. He'd lost his wife just when they were starting to try and work out their martial issues and he had three girls under ten that he had to raise on his own. His mother and younger sister helped, but the adjustment was hard. He never really had a chance to grieve over the loss. Life went on. His mother moved in with them, taking over as primary caregiver while Jason worked. They were a pride and that probably saved the whole dynamic, since it was programmed in for the females to work together for survival. Jason tried to date on and off over the last decade, but nothing ever went anywhere. As much as women sympathized with the overwhelmed single father, none of them wanted to compete with his demanding job and even more demanding family. He gave up trying to date seriously a few years ago, deciding he just didn't have the time. His pride and job are more important to him. He went on to take his detective's test, and gained the rank of sargeant and his own VCU squad. Because of his were abilities and tenacious nature, his squad was constantly sent after the most dangerous criminals in the city. Which led him and his squad taking on a dangrous insane telekinetic. Several of his co-workers were injured in the apprehension, one of them critically. Jason was forced to shift to his full werelion form and take the perp down with lethal were force. It was a wake up call for the department and Jason himself about supernatural criminals. Reinstated after the obligatory Internal Affairs investigation, Jason was put in charge of a new squad of detectives who were investigating crimes committed by and against supernaturals. Given a shoestring budget and housed in the basement of the Central building, the Supernatural Crimes Unit is still getting started. While the new assignment came with another promotion and more pay, Jason is spending even more time at work trying to build a squad from scratch and sift through the pile of cases dumped on him by other departments trying to lighten their own loads.
