positive traits

☝ Loyal

In true Hufflepuff form, Amelia is loyal to her remaining family, her friends, and her colleagues almost to a fault. She will keep any secret, assist in any way she is able, and will keep her allegiances until the end, even if it means putting herself in a dangerous situation to do so. She's very firm in her resolve, and it's one of the most important characteristics that made the sorting hat almost instantaneous in it's placement of her.

☝ Artistic

Though from an outsiders perspective, Amelia may not seem very creative, one of her greatest passions has always been art. She uses it in her work, sketching criminals for victims when someone is attacked, and it's her form of catharsis when she's finally home by herself at night after a hard day's work. She enjoys thinking outside the box, and though she will always follow direction, the endpoint to get there doesn't always have to be a straight line. She's all about finding creative and new solutions, which has given her a lot of flexibility and freedom in her position. Many don't even question her methods anymore, simply because they yield results.

☝ Tolerant

As long as an individual isn't hurting anyone, Amelia is inclined to let them be. Whether that means you're gay, bisexual, transsexual, asexual, black, white, Asian, Christian, Muslim, a Wiccan, a Satanist, whatever. She truly doesn't care, as long as you're a decent person, and not trying to push your ideals on another or cause harm, Amelia is content to let you exist as you are, but she also believes that everyone else should do the same, and does not tolerate individuals who feel their beliefs and practices are better than anyone else's.

☝ Compassionate

Amelia is a kind, empathetic, trustworthy and true individual. What makes her so great in her position is she truly feels for the individuals around her, and tates a special interest in them all personally. She also has a lot of concern for her colleagues and friends, always making sure to check up on them when they seem down, or when they least expect it just to make sure they're still doing alright, and see if there's anything she can do to help.

☝ Charismatic

Amelia has this explainable, compelling charm that she carries with her where ever she goes. When she speaks, it can border on inspirational more than anything else. Her words, when she is truly trying, are able to spark passion in people, and perhaps that's why she's made it was far as she has in her career. She's strong not only physically, but in what she believes in, and others are able to pick up on that as well.

negative traits

☟ Fiery

Though Amelia prides herself on being a strong individual with a mostly level head, she is also a victim to her own temper. So many years of holding in a lot of emotions mean that she is a volcano waiting to explode, and has, on more than one occasion. Though she tries to focus it on something beneficial, that doesn't always happen to be the case, and has snapped in ways that called for major apologies later on.

☟ Obsessive

Amelia likes to consider herself hard working, but honestly, it borders on complete obsession. Ever since the death of her brother and his family, Amelia works tirelessly to bring criminals and dark wizards to justice. In several short years she was able to climb the ranks in the DMLE and now, a little over a decade later after taking her first job, she is up for the position of Head, since the current one will be retiring in the next twelve months, which has only increased her drive to be the best.

☟ Argumentative

When her charisma and reason fail her, Amelia is no stranger to reverting to straight up arguing and fighting. Her passion can get the better of her, and since she's not one to give up easily, most relent just because she annoys the piss out of them and will keep them verbally sparring for hours. It has lost her many friends and companions in the past, because at that point, she's impossible and will not listen to reason. She won't give up until she wins.

☟ Repressive | Private

Even after all of these years, Amelia has never sought therapy for the tragedy her family went thorugh. She's never talked about their deaths, she's never given in to her need to break down and fall apart. Amelia feels the only way to really deal with it is to ignore it, hold it all in, and it's only built up over the years. But also because of that, it's difficult for her to even talk about the littlest things bothering her. She doesn't know how to open up.

☟ Suspicious

Though she trusts those who have earned it over the years, it takes a lot for Amelia to truly believe in a person. She questions motives, actions, words, everything. Perhaps it's all her years in magical law enforcement, but she truly believes there's always some ulterior motive, and is never really at ease when she meets new people. Perhaps that's what has sabotaged most of her past relationships. Apparently, most guys get pretty testy when they find out you've been running background checks on them and following them around at night...

neither here nor there

☞ Tough

At the end of the day, Amelia is a tough individual. She has extremely thick skin, and she's not easy to make cry. She holds herself with pride, and can take anything the world throws at her, at least on the outside.

☞ Natural Born Leader

Amelia is no stranger to taking the lead on things, and much prefers to have the reigns when it comes to projects and assignments. She is good at ogranizing, giving people duties, and being a strong shoulder to lean on and cry on. She's there for all of her teammates, her colleagues, and never leaves anyone behind.

☞ Earthy

Besides her art, Amelia truly cares about her the earth and all the things currently happening to it. She tries her best not to litter, to encourage recycling and greener living, as well as tries to remain a full on vegetarian when she can. After all, it takes much more of the earth's water to raise a cow than a tomato plant. When she has any free time she composts, has her own garden, and tries to buy produce and all other supplies locally instead of spending extra money on imports.

history
Timeline: Please describe at least five important events in your character’s life and how they have impacted their growth.

(July / 1951) - Born about 3 weeks early to a very well known Pureblood family, Amelia was the youngest of all three of the siblings, already allotting her a lot of attention and of course, over protection from her older two brothers. And though her family was Pure, they tended not to fall into the realm of usual purebloods, rarely conforming to the ideology that there was something better about their status and bloodline. Instead, Amelia was raised with the belief that all people were created equal, no matter halfblood, muggleborn, or anything in between. Her parents avidly spoke out against the mistreatment and constant hardships of werewolves trying to make lives for themselves within the magical world, along with many other halfbreed individuals. As long as you were trying to live a good life and be a decent, contributing member of society, you had the support of the Bones family. This rubbed off on Amelia in a big way, and she knew early on that she wanted to do something to help anyone she could, she just wasn't sure how. When her first signs of magic appeared at the age of six, Amelia was already prepared to take on the world, and already stressing about what she wanted to do with her life until her mother took her aside and assured her daughter she had plenty of time to decide, and right now she should just enjoy her young years, and find her passion, whatever it may be. Eventually then, Amelia started painting and found she rather enjoyed it, and it was a good way to express her emotions even when her own words failed to express how she felt inside. She also joined her mother in morning yoga sessions, and it became more of their bonding time than anything else. And though some would think Amelia grew up in a sheltered home, it was really the complete opposite. Her parents took her and her brothers all over the world, and were extremely politically active. One of Amelia's most intense but also wonderful memories was participating with her parents in a protest against the muggle Vietnam war and the senseless violence that came from it. But there were other causes as well, and even concerts that she was allowed to attend, as long as her parents and brothers were there. They wanted their daughter to see truly what the world had to offer, so when she grew up she could have a plethora of real world experience under her belt. By the time Hogwarts rolled around, Amelia had seen and experienced a lot more of both the muggle and magical realities than her student counterparts had.

(September / 1962) - Amelia hadn't been more excited in her entire life than when she finally got to leave for Hogwarts. She was pretty much filled with ridiculous child like wonder from the moment she stepped foot on the trail, all the way until the sorting ceremony. The entire time she couldn't help herself as she tried to get to know all of her fellow, unsorted first years. Some were more than willing to talk to her and get to know her, and others just shut her down, but she didn't let it dishearten her or ruin her enthusiasm. Perhaps those individuals were just overwhelmed! She'd try again later. And though part of her wanted to be sorted into houses her brother's had been in, she also knew she wasn't going to be overly upset if she got sorted into a house all her own either. So when the sorting hat cried out Hufflepuff! A wave of new excitement shot through her as she went to join her new, fellow housemates. Within the first few weeks she had a decent amount of friends, especially Alice Chevalier, as well as acquaintance. She had even managed to join a club or two. Amelia always tried to have her hands in anything and everything, mostly because she liked to keep busy, but also because she enjoyed being a part of something and making a difference. For the most part, she kept her nose clean, and was promoted to the head of Potions club by her fifth year. Her professors liked her, and she did brilliantly in a large array of her classes. However, that didn't mean she was always quiet and compliant. Around her fourth year she raised a lot of ruckus over her refusal to transfigure animals into cups, furniture, and tea cozies. She thought the practice of doing so was absolutely barbaric. How did the animals feel about it all! Would you want your freedom as a conscious creature taken away for the benefit of another? Even when wizards transfigured themselves into an object, they were still conscious of it and had the consent to do so, but animals had no such rights. There was a very long, heated battle wherein Amelia started petitions and protests on campus. Some agreed with her, and some thought she was utterly ridiculous, but she didn't care. At the end of the day the practice was unfortunately never changed, but the individuals at the school her year who had an issue with it, such as Amelia, at least had the option to opt out without any repercussions to their grades, which was something. It also gave Amelia a certain name, and when someone felt as though they were being treated unfairly or a practice was wrong, she was usually the one you went too. Also during this time Amelia began to realize that even though she wanted to help people and be as active as her parents, she also had really come to develop her art sensibilities, and began looking into internships at galleries and various art restoration schools. She figured she could still follow her passion of wanting to help people in her spare time, but also doing something she enjoyed as well.

(May/ 1969) - Graduation time for the one and only Amelia Bones. For several months she wavered before finally finding a position at an art gallery for several months. To say she enjoyed it was an understatement. Really, she loved it. And while her best friend off to become an auror in the DMLE, Amelia wasn't quite prepared for that lifestyle. Instead, she spend weeks doing nothing more than replacing old paintings and selling new aged artists. It was thrilling for her, and fulfilled her in so many ways. However it was also during this time that a war started brewing. Some unknown, powerful force began to gain power, much to her dismay. Amelia herself tried to ignore it, but within several years of her leaving school and joining the workforce, her parents joined up with an organization called the Order of the Phoenix. She was proud of them for finally taking a stand against evil, but made the decision to stay away from the building turmoil, at least at first. But then danger began to present itself, and though she wasn't fully sold on the idea, Amelia decided to quit her job after about a year and a half and take a clerical position within the DMLE so she could be closer to her friend Alice, but also keep an eye on the building turmoil from the inside, so she could warn her parents if necessary. To be honest, she never planned to stay there very long, but fate was a funny thing. For several months she worked at the very bottom of the barrel, filing paperwork, receiving ridiculous sexual innuendos and comments from male counterparts within her department, but she tried her best to ignore them and just perform her job. After all, she wasn't going to stay with the DMLE forever, just until she knew both Alice was doing well, and her parents were safe. She'd give it a few years at the very least.

(February/ 1973) - Only a few years into her position at the DMLE, Amelia was actually doing ridiculously well. After two years of nothing but glorified paper pushing, certain members began to take notice of her. She'd give them bits of advice, rework field plans from inside the office, give members of the investigations department new ways to approach various situations and cases. She was a brilliant strategist, and after several meetings with a certain detective, which ended in the capture of a spy within the ranks of the Ministry, her credibility certainly went up tenfold. And although she was still brushed off by certain members of the Department, such as the Head himself, Amelia didn't mind so much. She didn't need the approval of the men around her to know she was making a difference, and it certainly felt good. She missed her job in the gallery though, and for a solid month considered putting in her two weeks and taking off, but then the murder of her parents most certainly changed her mind. It was unexpected, to say the least, especially since she was supposed to visit earlier that week but had to cancel unexpectedly. There was also a rumor circulating that Lord Voldemort, as he called himself, had even been present at their murder. Identifying their bodies along with Edgar was one of the hardest things she ever had to do, and of course she blamed herself for not seeing them, for not being there, for not hearing rumblings about the plans from her job. She had joined up to aid them, to help them, but managed to do neither of those things at the end of the day. For months afterwards she fought with her brother Edgar as well, begging him to quit the Order. She blamed the organization for the deaths of her parents, being unable to aid their own better, and didn't trust them to protect her brother either. It was a serious point of contention between the two of them, so much so that in order to keep the peace, neither of them could talk about it around the other. But that didn't stop the anger from building inside Amelia, she just wasn't able to come out and express it. After all, she didn't want to destroy her relationship with her brother or his family, and she also knew she needed to put on a brave face and remain strong, no matter what. It didn't help matters any that many of her friends also joined up, much to her dismay, even her best friend (eventually). It killed her on the inside, and she did nothing but silently worry over their well being, slowly driving herself crazy with fear and worry. The anxiety she had over it all even trickled into her social life, and Amelia began to develop suspicion towards every new person around her. Of course it made her observant, but sometimes she pushed it too far. She destroyed relationships because she was too busy doing background checks and trailing the individual who she was seeing, and it was safe to say when they found out they were less than pleased. So instead of having any working relationship, it was easier to function with just a trail of one night stands and keep emotional attachment and undying loyalty to those she truly trusted.

(November / 1978) - Amelia absolutely threw herself into her work for years. She worked overtime, holidays, barely ever slept. But all that work caused her to rise up in the ranks at the DMLE, as did her passion and charisma in what she did. Though she was still subject to a lot of backhanded comments due to the highly sexist atmosphere, there was no denying her worth as a member of the department. She was an excellent strategist. So much so that even Crouch once begrudgingly admitted that all women might not be completely worthless. Many individuals went to her for advice on cases, leads, and how to work different sources in a new way. Her methods from behind the scenes helped bring in countless criminals, and for once she felt semi whole. Like she was doing her family, and her parents proud. However, it was still the case that the war was coming to a head, and she used any resources she could from within the department to also aid the Order of the Phoenix where she could, albeit grudgingly. It was never anything too serious. Insider intelligence on the possible movements of known death eaters, and suspected ones alike. From her position she also tried to keep an eye on her best friend, Alice, though she knew there was no way she could keep her safe and it truly tore at her. The same went for Edgar. She disliked the idea of all of those she loved putting themselves directly in the cross hairs, yet time and time again she was presented with information that another friend had been lost. It tore at her, and she withdrew perhaps even further, if that was possible, but on the outside she remained stoic, tough, but that didn't mean she was completely cold or uncaring either. People went to her for more than just work problems, and she was more than happy to be their shoulder to cry on, and do whatever she could to help mend their problems. But at the end of the day Mel married herself to her work, and the job. A career that she never even wanted to begin with, but couldn't see anything else than the work at hand anymore. More relationships faded, not only those with men, but even with close friends. She had less time to see either of her brothers, and grief still welled inside of her. The only way to make it ever feel any better though was to work, and that's what she continued to do up until she found herself falling asleep at her desk one evening and waking up in a rather strange place..

baggage
baggage

Please list 6-10 pieces of emotional baggage, describe their impact on your character’s life, and provide us with an idea of how they might be resolved in game. Examples include fears, sins, regrets, unrealized dreams, unlearned lessons, latent desires, unsettled grudges and personal losses.

  • Regret in her marriage to the job
Amelia has thrown away a lot in life to advance in her career. Her obsession in her work will really start to become apparent when she's in a place where she's not really making a difference like she feels she is. It's going to hit her hard after a few weeks of not working for the DMLE and being on the island, and she's going to start to realize how many opportunities she's wasted over a grudge, a score she can never really settle. Not working at the ministry is going to drive her a little batty, and she's going to realize how much she poured into her job. Having to rebuild social networks, branch out, make friends, and do things not work related will help her feel fulfilled and get over her constant obsession with being at the ministry. She destroyed so many friendships over her need to be in the job, so just being able to enjoy herself again, to laugh, and to meet new people and spend time enjoying herself will truly help her realize that work isn't everything.

  • Guilt over her parents death
Amelia has always blamed herself for this. She has this misguided belief that if she had been there, she could have done something. If her brother ever comes into the game, or even Susan, that would be extremely helpful to explain to her that it wasn't her fault and if she had been there, she would have just died too. Otherwise, hearing the stories of others, and how there was really nothing she could have done, no matter how hard she tried, will begin to heal her guilt.

  • Regret in never settling down
Before her parents, Amelia always wanted a family of her own. She has a strong mothering instinct, and a want to take care of the people around her. However when she decided that settling a score and working was more important, she never really managed to have this dream come true. It also didn't help that she has a deep distrust of people, and that has caused her to ruin more relationships before they even get off the ground. Meeting new people and seeing that not everyone has an evil agenda (or even someone full on calling her out over her suspicion if she does manage to go on some dates), and that sometimes she just has to let go will be extremely helpful. She doesn't need to find her one true love, but it would be really helpful. Also just realizing in general that she wants a family will certainly help solve this piece of baggage.

  • X Holding it all inside | Never Showing Anger
Amelia needs to learn to open up to people. Besides her guilt and her regret, even the little things she's unable to express to even her most trusted friends. It's eating her up inside, and causing her to participate in activities she probably shouldn't, such as drinking. She's not really a social drinker though, more the kind to steal a shot or two from her flask at work to get through the day and deal with her inner turmoil of emotions. Amelia needs to realize it's okay to be vulnerable. It's okay not to be strong all the time. Perhaps most importantly, it's okay to be angry, to lose her temper, and to not be an individual who feels they're representing the ministry at all times. She's a person, and people can yell, they can scream, they can verbally attack another human being, every once in a while, without it destroying everything she's ever worked for.

  • Not following her passion in art
At a young age, Amelia always thought she would be an artist. Work in a gallery. Restore old paintings, something. Anything other than working at the ministry. But the murder of her family completely derailed that, and this dream and passion was long forgotten. Amelia still practices every once in a while, but over time on the island, it will be beneficial for her to rediscover her passion, and maybe even use it as a tool to help others. Drawing pictures of family. Painting murals. All of this will help cheer her up and make her realize there are other paths in life other than the DMLE and that she's allowed to love what she does and enjoy herself without feeling guilty.

  • Anger at her family for joining the order
Everyone lost a great deal during the first war, that is no secret. However, at first Amelia thought she was incredibly proud of her parents for joining up, but after the deaths of her mother and father, Amelia turned incredibly bitter. She doesn't have the best taste in her mouth when it comes to the Order, and doesn't say the nicest things about it, even when it involves her brother who is still currently involved. Really, she began to see it as a death sentence, and eventually started blaming her family for her anger and pain because they left her to participate in such a dangerous mission. Finding out that the Order is one of the many reasons that Voldemort was eventually defeated, and how strong and beneficial those who joined up were will help her accept that the sacrifices her parents made were for the greater good. Also, seeing the future generations and the fact there is finally peace after so much war will help heal her, and accept that her brother and parents were strong individuals, and she should be proud of them instead of angry.

    rewards

Please list the items which, along with their wand, would motivate your character to open future pieces of luggage. These can consist of any object that possesses practical or sentimental value, such as a photo album, a favourite book, collected love letters from their significant other, and anything else you deem appropriate. Including their wand, list as many items as baggage items.

  • Wand
  • Edgar's pocket watch - Her and her eldest brother were always incredibly close. Being away from him will be difficult but having something of his, and also something of his that has been handed down for generations will surely help her cope on the island
  • A family portrait - Taken on a family vacation while her and her brothers were all still of school age, their parents took time of work to take everyone to the Amazon rainforest. All of their smiling faces, happy, healthy, and living, is one of Amelia's favorite memories.
  • Her badge from the DMLE - After over a decade of hard work, Amelia cherishes her badge perhaps a lot more than people should. It is a physical symbol of how hard she's worked, and how far she's come.
  • Her mother's pearl necklace - Passed down from her great, great, grandmother, Amelia was given the necklace after her mother's death. She doesn't possess a memory of her without it.
  • Her easel and art supplies - Amelia is rather talented when it comes to art, and she still has a special easel bought for her during one christmas by Michael that she absolutely loves. She's used it for years now, and coming to a place without it will surely disappoint her.

Please answer the following questions in character.

  • What was the last lie you told?
I try incredibly hard not to lie, and if I must lie, I usually try to make sure there is some iota of truth to it. So more like... a twisted form of the truth, I suppose. So when my colleagues asked me when I would be going home and taking a break, I told them after I finished my current project. What I failed to tell them is my current project will take the next several months...

  • What do you think about the most: the past, the present or the future? Why?
I do try to focus on the present. It is the most important moment at hand, and what I do now affects my future. The past... I try not to think about it, honestly. There's just too much... too much back there.

  • How do you feel about socks?
They are a staple of every sensible outfit, unless you are wearing sandals. In which case, that would be a fashion disaster.

  • Would you rather be gossiped about or never talked about?
I would prefer to be never talked about. But at the same time... I'm curious to see what kind of gossip people would make up about me. Morbid curiosity, perhaps.

  • If you were the opposite sex for a day, what would you look like and what would you do?
I would hope to be pleasing on the eyes, but looks are most certainly not everything. If I were a male though, I would still go to work, still perform my duties, and hope they were just as satisfactory. Though I don't see why they wouldn't be, men and women are capable of exactly the same things.

I'd be happy with anything! Amelia is from a year or so before his family and him gets wiped out. She doesn't even know it happened! But their parents have already been killed. All I know for sure is they're extremely close in my head, and Amelia might also hate the Order.. and there's a bit of contention there because of it :p. Also the names of Edgar's kids are not permanent if you want him from a time where he has them, obvs. Just made some stuff up

Feel free to email me! maggie.kat1106@gmail.com

That's fair enough and totally works! I'll shoot you an email when I figure some things out.
