Dean is everything that his brother isn't and some things that he is. While his brother is the softer side of the duo, Dean has a difficult time letting any of his emotions show. Sam wears his heart on his sleeve, but Dean internalizes pretty much everything he's feeling because he has to remain strong no matter what. Unlike his brother, he finds it difficult to have too much empathy for others. He's concerned with ridding the world of the negative, yes, but more because it's the "right thing to do" than because he actually feels like he should do it. It's his duty and he's following orders, something that he has done all of his life.

He's intelligent, but he's lacking in the common sense department more often than not. He can often come across as a bit of a dim bulb, but he's a lot more intelligent than he might seem at first. His brother got more of the brains, yes, but he's capable of thinking on his feet. While Sam thinks like a man who's college educated, Dean thinks like a man who's been on the streets. He knows the ins and outs of street smarts and is capable of protecting himself - and his brother - when it comes down to it.

Dean is stubborn, willful, and determined to be protective of his brother. Sam is the most important person in his life and he's unwilling to part from him. They've been through more - to hell and back - than he wants to remember and while he might not be loyal to everyone he meets, he's loyal to Sam. He wants to be an example for Sam and he can't do that if he ever appears weak, so he pushes down a great deal of his emotions to protect his brother from them. To him, Sam is the only thing that matters, even more than himself.

Like Sam, Dean only has what he had on him at the time that the darkness consumed the Impala. A handgun and a knife. He also has his wallet with a few old pictures he had tucked away inside and a whole shitload of bad memories that fill his thoughts.

FIRST PERSON: Dad was the journlin' kind. Sammy too. I've never been the sorta man that just sits around lettin his feelings get the best of him. At least I try not to. Ain't no point in feeling too much. Feelings get you into situations that just make things hard to deal with. It was easier to do my damn job when I didn't let those feelings get into my head. Feelings are the reason that people like Charlie end up dead thanks to us. If we didn't love her like a little sister, she wouldn't have been tryin' so goddamn hard to help me. If she hadn't been, she wouldn't be dead.

Strange how you try so hard not to feel things and yet it happens anyway. No matter how much I try to pretend that there ain't any real feelings inside of me, I know the truth and I'm pretty sure everyone else knows the truth too. Funny thing that feelings find you even when you don't want them to. Funny how there isn't no way of stopping them from happening.
THIRD PERSON: Dean's eyes had been squinted shut so tightly that they ached. He kept them closed for so long that he wasn't sure what he thought he might see when he opened them back up again. He did it cautiously, one eye and then the other one. He expected, at least partially, to still be inside the Impala sitting outside that old restaurant where he just killed Death - can death really die? - right next to Sammy. He wasn't, though. There was no Impala. There was no steering wheel before him. There was no little restaurant either. There was darkness, but not a great deal of it. Dimness was a better word.

He sat up. Hadn't he be sitting already? So why the hell was he laying down now? He blinked a couple of times and reached out to what looked like a bedside lamp. He turned it on and glanced around and just when he thought things couldn't get any weirder, he realized he was alone and that on top of there being no Baby, there was no Sam either.

"Sammy?," he ground out, voice as hoarse and grinding as it always was when he couldn't find his brother. He wasn't sure what happened or how he got separated from his brother, but he had a good feeling that the "darkness" that death spoke of had a hell of a lot to do with it.

PLOT IDEAS:
Meeting up with Sam, of course, and Claire as well. I'm also open for any and all things that might be tossed my way.
