Appearance: Oddball has this crazy-loopy look in his eyes sometimes. He’s usually wearing earth toned clothes. Nothing fancy, simple stuff you’d find on the Rim anywhere. He has a brown leather pilot’s sort of jacket, and brown leather gloves. He has a leather cap, and goggles he tends to wear especially when at the helm of a shuttle. He has a hip holster and pistol, though he doesn’t use it often due to the fact he’s usually in charge of the heavier canon weapons. He has a cowboy hat, which if he ain’t wearing his cap, chances are he’s wearing the hat. He tends to wear light brown muscle shirts. He still has his dog-tags from the war; he never really removes those. He has wavy dirty blond hair, and normally a full scruffy beard and mustache. Although he has been known to shave it when Emm gets on his case about lookin’ presentable in places.

:: HISTORY AND PERSONALITY ::

History: Johannes Zade Marrs, was born on the border planet of Paquin, the ‘gypsy planet’. He was one of many in his clustered family, and as a boy he had many cousins and even siblings. The Marrs family had money in some parts, and others had to work to the bone. Really it depended on what part of the planet you where from, and even those that had money, worked and labored like all the rest. Many Pilots and Engineers where borne or rather Johannes would say ‘made’. The family had a series of scrap yards that the family owns on the planet’s surface. Johannes however didn’t pay much attention to the fixing of things, or for a good long while the learning of piloting, ether. He played with his cousins, and amongst the crowd of them he had a few favorites. He was usually scheming and looking for ways out of work, his father always said if he focused half as much on flying or learning mechanics, that he would be a fine young man. But to his father’s disappointment, those things never really held his desire or interest. It was really unknown what he did with most of his time, and what it was that he wanted to do in his life. Besides play silly games with his twin cousins, who were his favorites of all.

The boy was forced into learning to fly, and he started out in small vehicles. He learned how to operate terrain-vehicles first, Mules and Hover craft and old cars. He eventually learned small flying vessels, small fixed wings and short range space craft. But to his father’s annoyance he never learned beyond the shuttles. He got distracted, and never really tried. Although his father could see the potential for him to be a grand pilot, But Johannes just never wanted that. Then war broke out and more than half his family went off to fight. A few sided onto the Alliance side, although that was just good placing, seems scheming is a family trademark. Though Johannes to this day doesn’t have knowledge to that particular series of events, most the family were Browncoats, and the others just appeared to be Alliance. If you catch the drift.

He shocked his father to no end when he learned that the boy had volunteered with a platoon that operated armored skiffs. He was made the commanding officer of a heavy weapons platform. Nobody really knows why he got himself caught up in the war, especially since he was always against the fighting. But he was crafty enough, that he survived the long harsh battles and pulled through. He was at Serenity Valley that day when the Independents surrendered. Throughout Johannes' time as a Browncoat, he was always a bit extreme and leaky brained. But that was the day people stopped calling him by his proper name and started only by his nickname, Oddball. Or rather if a time was to be placed on when folk quite calling him Johannes, it would be then.

After the surrender he found his way back home. His twin cousins who hadn’t fought in the war welcomed him with loving open arms. He spent his days a lot like before the war, under the sun relaxing in a chair and not worrying about any sort of work. Now it’s not really sure by many others how he happened to meet Emerald. Oddball won’t tell you, he might not even remember the exact day. But it was after meeting her, that the two become friends. Each had ways of testing and even pestering the other. Playing games, and messing with each other’s heads. It was how it started, and when Emerald got her hands on Lorrayna Phoenix was no question on her having him onboard. He was good with weapons, and he was a tactic master in the war. Placing his canons on the Alliance whenever ordered, or needed. And since the ship had two rare special, weaponised shuttles he was immediately hired on for the job of over seeing the use of these shuttles.

Personality: Think 60’s hippy on old Earth-that-Was, and well then you got Oddball. How do you think he got the nickname? He’s a bit out of his mind sometimes, coming up with the most random things. He has a way of saying stuff that quit frankly can rattle and frighten a man, or woman for that matter. He’s mellowed, and all about the peace and harmony. Even while blowing holes into other ships. He likes blaring music, especially when in a canon fight. He broadcasts it out over all the frequencies to rattle those on the other end. He enjoys his chilling, and drinking, and if you ask others he enjoys some of that wacky-tobaccy. But he doesn’t smoke a thing. He usually doesn’t get along well with the commanding types, especially military officers, whether they be active Alliance personnel or use to be Browncoat officers. However, he’s found his place on Lorrayna Phoenix. Where him and Emerald Storm have a sort of understanding about each other.

The relationship has sort of ‘marinated’, and Oddball is now after all this time a bit like that of a brotherly type. He’ll even pull out of his mellow calm persona, if a person has seriously wronged her, in order to be smacking some sense into those that crossed the black haired gal. He tends to clash heads with Guinivere often enough, and since Oddball first made his appearance in a part of Emerald life that the red head had nothing to do with and doesn’t even know about, the tension can get pretty heavy for those around the three. Otherwise the man is basically adjusted, and happy about where he is now, despite the thieving and pillaging against all those around the ‘Verse.

Strengths: He can fly any shuttle from the Core-to-the-Rim. He knows tactics and how to get a jump on an opponent when in a tight fix. He has a vast experience in handeling canons and how to blow pretty holes in other guys. He’s crazy-enough to try anything once, and twice if it gave him an adrenaline kick. He knows how to sweet talk the ladies, and how to barter to get things he’s wanting and/or needing. He can find ways around a mucked up plan, that makes everything fit in the end. He’s good at lazing around, especially in the heat of a problem. Meaning he’s usually always mellow, no matter what’s going on around him.

Language[s]: English and Chinese

Weaknesses : Oddball doesn’t know a thing about how the shuttles operate, meaning the design and engineering. He wouldn’t be able to fix one if his life depended on it, and out here that may actually be a factor depending on the circumstances. He doesn’t like work, and he’ll do whatever it takes to get around the majority of hard labor. He doesn’t take orders like a normal person, and he hates Alliance personnel especially officers. Well for a matter of a fact he never liked Browncoat officers’ ether.
