Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
So, I stopped at Asher's apartment for breakfast this morning, which isn't really a big surprise considering that I hoard food at my brother's place constantly. But, he told me that he's thinking about moving to Seattle. Apparently he got offered a job up there and he thinks that it would be a better place to raise Ami. Of course, I'm trying to figure out why Seattle would be better. We both grew up here in LA. Or, well, Pasadena. And we didn't turn out that bad, I don't think. So why Seattle?

He lists off all these reasons that, to me, seemed a little lame. Less smog. Less people. Less earthquakes. Less noise. Better schools. Better chance of his daughter not turning out to be some Paris Hilton type snob. But what about me? Granted, I'm just the goofy uncle but I kind of like getting to see my brother and neice whenever I get the urge to show up. If he moves up to Seattle, who the hell am I going to mooch off of?

It's a selfish reason, I know. But I like having them here.

Aside from the job offer that has a better salary than what he makes here? Not really. At least, nothing that seemed tangible in my eyes.

Maybe he just wants to get away for awhile. Change of scene, second chances. I dunno, I mean. I don't know your brother.

Yeah. I get that. I just don't like the idea of them leaving. Ash is always there, you know? And I can't imagine not getting to see my neice whenever I want.

It's completely selfish, but I don't want them to go.

I know. I get that. Mostly because Jake was the same. But if he does move to Seattle, you know you can always take a drive up there or hop on a bouncy plane.

I know it's only a couple hours drive away, but that doesn't make it any easier. Yeah, I want whatever is best for my brother and for Ami. I just wish what was best wasn't so far away.

I know. I'm sorry, I didn't mean to sound all preachy or anything.

No. It's alright. I'm just being whiney and selfish. I should be happy for him. From what I hear, this job offer is amazing. It has great benefits and Seattle isn't really that far away. I just know I'm gonna miss them. And I'm gonna starve because I have no idea how to cook.

You didn't say anything to be sorry about. Really.

Lucky for you, PT, I know exactly how to cook. Although if I'm going to be your chef, we're going to have to work on this off-journal aspect thing.

Anyway, it's okay to want to be selfish.

Well. If you're going to be my personal chef, I guess you're right. Can you make pierogies?

Well. Not like a Polish woman can, but sure.
Why, is a pierogi all it takes to coax you out of your house?

Not all, no. But it's a good start.

And does a bevy of XXX magazines and fuzzy handcuffs help at all?

It does. What color are the handcuffs?

I've got two pairs. One's blue, like electric blue. The other's your basic black. Although I did see this hot ass pair in a window the other day. Technicolor, for the win.

Wow. You can cook and you have an interest in fuzzy handcuffs. Where have you been all my life?

Haha. I've got $50 that says you don't use it. But, for the fun of it: 1422 Palm Hills Rd.

Hey. I have off in the morning and I'm wide awake. You probably should have waited to give that to me because I have every intention of coming over right now.
