Its quite humiliating something when you have to be told to go home by your bosses.  Especially if they take away your favourite quill, blotter and tell you not to come in until Thursday.

I wish I'd thought to copy the last of my research. I don't know what I'll do with all this time.

...What?

Small, simple words, Pen. I obviously know what wards are, but not that other thing.

Basically Ontology is a philosophical school of thought that objects have..not so much will as in capacity. And wards can be irrevocably tied to a person or a bloodline - that was essentially the job of a cornerstone and why the first born son had to be present to smear his blood onto the cornerstone so his family is linked into a ward. (As an aside, early wardsmiths used to use a stone knifes but the Pureblood families all have very ornate silver ones).

Anyway, I started to think ; wards are like..veils. Pieces of magic that can shift, move and adapt - like they could breathe. What if someone could take a ward and give it capacity ?

Humans have intent - every single action we do or do not do is obvious in our subconscious intent. If a ward could be charmed to read the intent and recognise it (and if it had capacity) it could reject certain people from entering the boundaries.
Even if its just for a few minutes it could be long enough to get them out.

Thats sort of a ..bitesize version of my thesis. You can see why its been taking over my life.
