Peter Pettigrew laughs in his sleep ([info]_peter) wrote,

Perhaps I have been doing my job for too long, but there are times that I cannot seem to convince myself that an 'elephant attack' is too absurd of a reason to explain a demonstration of accidental magic use in Muggle London. It seems I have a secret yearning for creativity, and perhaps that I've grown bored with using reasonable excuses.

A friendly reminder that the World Cup is quickly approaching. If you are attending, do take the time to support your local and international vendors for souvenirs, snack foods, and team promotional merchandise (otherwise known as 'spirit wear').

Ministry Staff
I have, in my hands, no less than ten tickets for rather choicy seats at the world cup. Five are box seats. Which of you would like to attend?

Alice
How was your vacation? I do apologize for the words we had before you left. Allow me to make it up to you. Lunch, perhaps?

I'd buy it as a reason. In fact, I think it's rather inspired.

I have an investment idea I'd like to talk to you about, whenever you have some free time.

I thought so too. Unfortunately, the rest of the department did not.

Mr. Duke
An investment idea? Why, Mr. Duke, are you planning on starting a business? Do tell me more, I'm interested already.

That's truly unfortunate. Where is there sense of creativity?

~Peter

Not a business as such...more of a side project. I'm considering considering striking out on my own and I remembered your interest in the Sisters when we were getting off the ground. I was wondering if you'd be interested in helping back me as a solo artist?

It is lost, it seems. A very sad discovery.

Mr. Duke
I am always interested in backing the dreams of others.

Allow me to ask you this, Mr. Duke. For what reason do you want to strike out on your own? Have you spoken of this to the other Sisters? Are you certain that your solo career will be equally as successful?

Very sad indeed.

~Peter

That sounds promising...

The reason is that our artistic goals are diverging - we've not been seeing eye to eye musically for awhile now. We're technically set to start work on the next record, but I find myself unable to write material that would fit in with the vision they're heading towards. I do, however, have an album's worth of material that I'm very happy with and think is some of the best work I've done in years. But I know that they won't want to record it.

I've not spoken to them yet, but will be sitting down with Myron Wagtail and Donaghan Tremlett soon to discuss it. The break - temporary or permanent, depending on their reactions - will be made publicly known by the end of August.

I'm not one hundred percent certain, but I have every belief that it has that potential. This material is different than anything I've done with the Sisters, so it wouldn't be directly competing.

Perhaps you should speak to me again, after you've had this discussion with your fellow Sisters.

Perhaps you should also consider the public eye. If the band is to break up and then you suddenly produce a solo album, will you be seen as the hero for breaking free, or the villain for destroying the group? Perhaps you ought to start planting the seeds of that imagery before the official announcement is made. I warn you that, even if you announce it as a mutual decision, the public (and the tabloids) will form their own opinions based on their own emotional investments in the music of the Weird Sisters of the past.

I definitely will do so, Mr. Pettigrew.

Your advice is full of merit, and well-reasoned. I can assure you that I am not entering into this lightly and have given it a lot of thought myself. I know that I can't completely control the public reaction, but I hope that they would remember that I've always been good to the Sisters' fans.

I simply know that I have an album full of artistic material that I've been working on on my own since our last tour, and when push comes to shove, it's not so much that the Sisters wouldn't want to record it - although, as I said, I don't think they will because of its different style - as it is that I want to release this on my own. It's, well, mine - my lyrics, my music, my heart, really.

I'm hoping that it would only be a temporary hiatus for me, and that the band actually won't break up, but that's really up to how Myron reacts.

I should also say that I have some capital of my own, just not enough, which is why I came to you...but enough to make the enterprise less risky for you.

Please, call me Peter.

I am pleased to hear that you have thought about it in such great detail. Might I suggest that, when the time comes to record the album, you invite your fellow Sisters on board as 'guest artists.' This ensures that, while the album was your creative masterpiece, it was produced with full support of your the Sisters.

I am only minorly concerned with risk. With great risk often comes great reward.

Thank you, Peter.

You know, that's a very good idea. I'll definitely offer them the chance, though I don't know that they'll all take me up on it. But at least that way, I can't say I didn't try to be as open as possible about it all.

I find that to be true as well.

Yes, definitely should support the businesses that make the Cup possible!

Peter

I had a lovely time. I was sad we had fought. You know how much I care about your opinion, Peter.

Lunch would be lovely.

I am pleased that we feel the same.

Name a time and a place, and I will meet you there.

We are very often of the same mind, which was what surprised me.

I've made plans today with Dorcas Meadows, but tomorrow I am free? Fancy some Italian?

Perhaps I am a bit protective of my emotions. I don't often appreciate being told that I am in the wrong for behaving as a gentleman would.

Italian sounds lovely. I know just the place.

And you know of course that that was never my intention.

Wonderful! I look forward to it greatly!
