...We left carrots in the doorway that year because Harry had been told St. Nicholas had horses. We went along with it. We told him sometimes Santa Claus had horses, reindeer, or even donkeys; and it depended on the way he felt that year. We damn near forgot to have the carrots taken from the doorway before he woke.
