Full name: Jonathan Aaron Reznick Nicknames: Rez, J-Man, JarJar, Jon Date of birth/age: October 26, 1979/34 Occupation: Owner of D&B Youth Center Education: GED Residence: Riverwoods Appearance: Rez is small for a guy at only 5'6" tall. His most striking feature is his bright blue eyes and he has a head full of curly brown hair. He is pretty much covered in tattoos as well as having several scars from his days as a professional skateboarder, the most prolific of which is a large scar hidden beneath his hair line from a time when he split his head open pretty bad during a preliminary event for the X Games. He is also pretty scarred up from the wolf attack that killed his parents, with deep claw marks in his back and a scar from being bitten on his left hip. PB:Bam Margera
Personality: Rez used to be what one would refer to as a jackass. He was all about getting fucked up, getting laid and causing havoc. While there are some traits of that that remain, he has mostly outgrown that. He is through and through a sweet guy. He's easy going as can be, except for when it comes to his family. Even though he's been on the outs with them for a very long time now, he adores them all so much that it hurts. He desperately hopes to reconnect with them one day and looks forward to eventually starting a family of his own.
Although he continues to struggle with some rather serious mental health issues, he has his illness under control for the most part. He was diagnosed with Clinical Lycanthropy a number of years ago and was even institutionalized for long while until he'd progressed enough for the doctors to decide that he was capable of living within society. In spite of the strides he has made in his illness, and the fact that he continues to go for treatment still (read: counseling and medication), he still gets very anxious and irritable around the full moon sometimes and even has a place in his basement where he can lock himself up if he's having a particularly severe relapse.
Though Rez has always been a good person with a big heart, masked of course by his crude and somewhat careless attitude, he's not always done the right things in life. It's because of this that he carries a lot of guilt inside for mistakes that he's made in the past and is always striving to make amends. There are a lot of bridges that have been burned and people that want nothing at all to do with him anymore, but he tries his best to make up for that by doing good in his life in general right now until those people are ready and willing to give him a chance to redeem himself.
History: Rez had a pretty normal childhood. Born in Lakewood Shores, his family was middle class, his parents both loving and always treating him like the baby that he was. He had an older sister named Sharon who was always a bit jealous of Rez, but for the most part, things were all fine and good, at least until Rez hit his pubescent years.
Living in a small town, teens were often times tasked with making their own fun. This was not always accomplished in the best of ways. Falling in with a bad crowd, Rez found many things that he loved; drugs, sex, booze, and skateboarding. He became rather good at the latter and rather hooked on the former and things went both uphill and downhill from there.
At first, things got bad, really bad. He was in constant trouble with the law, his parents always having to bail him out of it, at least until he ran away from home and took off across country to the birthplace of the grunge movement when he was but fifteen. From there, he fell into male prostitution to make ends meet and to feed his addiction. But he also met a few other skateboarders there, learned a thing or two, and honed his craft.
Shortly after he turned eighteen, Rez followed some of his new friends down to California where skateboarding was all the time. It was there that, one day when skating a few ramps, he happened to meet up with just the right people to launch his skateboarding career. The rest was history. He was a fast study in the sport and quickly made a name for himself. Sure, he was still a bit of a jackass at the time, still liked to do all the crazy things he had done before he became famous, only now he had better means to do it with and endless amounts of money lining his bank accounts. For seven years, he was at the very top of his game. Then everything changed.
Having reconnected with his family, he had decided to take his parents on vacation. His father had always wanted to go camping in the Canadian wilderness, and that's precisely where they went. The trip was great until the very last night they were meant to be there. Rez decided to drop some acid that night because he thought it would be fun to trip balls in the middle of the frozen tundra and dance around with the abominable snowman. But that was the night that their encampment was attacked by wolves. His parents were killed in the incident and Rez was badly wounded. Had it not been for some hunters that stumbled across the scene, he would have been dead too, but instead, he woke up some days later in the hospital to hear the news.
It was this event that led to the onset of Rez's mental illness. The LSD had intensified what had happened to him and Rez became convinced that he had been bitten by a werewolf and that he too was a werewolf now. The compulsion was so strong that he would black out on the nights of the full moon and not remember what he had done or where he had been the following morning. And then, six months after the incident, he was found completely nude, lost in the woods, and covered in blood. From what? He didn't really know. The state trooper that found him took him into custody immediately. Analysis of the blood that covered his form revealed that it was animal blood. He had, in his fugue state, mutilated and consumed an animal with his bare hands.
The tabloids went crazy. The stories were varied. Some said that he was a crazed devil worshiper, others that his obsession with heavy metal music had driven him over the edge, and some insisted that he had suffered one too many blows to the head while skateboarding. After being deemed mentally incompetent, Rez was transferred to an asylum and detained there.
For six long years, he was trapped in that place. For the first three or four years, he was locked away like an animal every time the moon was full. In his mind, he had shifted right before their very eyes a dozen times and yet everyone still treated him like he was insane. Eventually, with the right combination of medications and therapy, Rez started to come around to the fact that this was a mental illness and he wasn't really turning into a werewolf. It took a long time to convince him of this fact, and even longer still for him to be able to experience a full moon without "shifting". But he finally got there. And he was finally cleared to be able to go back out into the world and live a normal life, or relatively normal anyway, once more.
At 31-years-old, getting back into the world of competitive skateboarding was not an option. Rez still had plenty of money left from his time spent in that life, as it had hardly been touched in a very long while and had been left in the bank to accrue interest, but he had no idea what to do with his life. He had actually taken advantage of his time in the asylum, earning his GED while he was there, so he could probably get a job doing something if he wanted to but he wasn't sure what to do. After going back to LA for a while, where he had been living when all of this happened, and experiencing a rather severe relapse while there, he made the decision to move back home to Lakewood Shores. Rez wanted desperately to reconnect with what was left of his family there and thought that small town life might be more conducive to his mental health than being in a huge city.
Buying a house in Riverwoods, where he could have a bit of peace and quiet and open air, Rez began trying to mend fences with his remaining family as well as trying to figure out a way to give something back to the world which he felt he had taken so much from over the years. While taking a drive one day, he ran across a huge empty field just on the outskirts of town that was up for sale and he was divinely inspired to buy it. It took more than a year to realize his dream, but finally it was ready to be opened up to the public.
Named for his parents, Doug and Barbara Reznick, the D & B Youth Center opened on August 1st, 2014. It boasts both indoor and outdoor ramps for biking and skating, a small indoor stage and an outdoor stage that regularly hosts bands fronted by local youth in need of a venue, an indoor laser tag arena, and an outdoor paintball arena. There is a strict zero tolerance policy when it comes to drugs, alcohol, and bullying. There is a small nominal fee for use of the facilities, but it doesn't have to be paid in cash. Instead, teens are encouraged to donate non-perishable items which are then distributed to area food banks and families in need. Because of his history of mental health, Rez doesn't manage the facility, but he helps out when needed, helps to promote the center and its activities, and manages the donations ensuring that they are distributed where needed the most.
