{ Harry James Potter
The only difference between a suicide and a martyrdom really is the amount of press coverage.
personality
QUIRKS: Harry tends to run his hands through his hair and over the back of his neck when he's uncomfortable. His smile is crooked, and he laughs at awkward moments.
LIKES: Quidditch, his friends, chocolate frogs, muggle mystery novels (thanks Ron), buzzfeed quizzes, sugar quills, helping people, treacle tart, Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency
DISLIKES: wet socks, oatmeal, injustice, losing cases, waiting, tight trousers, fake watermelon flavor
Harry has a hero complex a mile wide and a tendency to want to sacrifice himself. A childhood of being the “chosen one” has left him feeling like he is personally responsible for pretty much the whole world, and he takes every failure and every death very much to heart. The guilt weighs him down, and leads him to making reckless, rash decisions.

He tends to be an easy going person, but when he sets his mind to something he's like a dog with a bone. He's gets obsessed, and it takes almost herculean effort to get him to focus on or talk about anything else (just ask Malfoy.) If he didn't have Ron around he would have died of starvation years ago. But that hyper focus makes him able to spot clues and make connections that most people can't. His years as an Auror only honed that skill, and he applies it now to Phoenix Investigations. Ron and Harry truly are the perfect team. Harry's attention to detail and Ron's ability to put together all the pieces of the puzzle have led them to solving nearly every case that comes across their desk.

The ones they don't solve still keep Harry up at night.

Harry has never been good at dealing with emotions. He tends to go straight to anger when faced with sorrow, loss, guilt, and pain. His childhood with the Dursley's left Harry with serious abandonment issues that he's never really dealt with. Because of this Harry has a series of failed relationships behind him that he almost single handedly destroyed. He doesn't know how to get close to people, and his conviction that they will eventually leave him makes him push them away first. He still regrets the way things ended with Ginny. And Colleen. And the three or four girls after them. At this point he'd rather be alone than go through all that again.

Harry is a private person at heart, despite the fact that everything he does tends to end up on the front page. He would much rather stay out of the spotlight, and wherever he does give an interview he plays up other people's contributions while minimizing his own. Ron tends to take over interviews when they're together, telling the press to fuck off like Harry can't. He always feels like he owes the public more than that, even when he clearly doesn't, so he appreciates that Ron will take that bullet for him.

The victims of the second wizarding war haunt Harry in ways he can't really explain. He feels guilty for surviving, when he had been so ready to die. He wishes he could have been the Savior they needed. He wishes he could have been smarter, faster, better. He wishes he made fewer mistakes. He wishes his mistakes hadn't led to bodies on the ground. He wishes there was something, anything he could do to make their sacrifice mean more.

He still dreams about dying.

When Harry loves, he loves deeply. When Harry looses, he takes it hard. When Harry laughs, it makes everything seem just that little bit brighter. He is who Voldemort made him, for better or for worse.
appearance
HEIGHT: 5’10”
BUILD: Slender but we'll defined
HAIR: Black
EYES: Green
Harry is more comfortable in muggle clothes than robes, but he wears them when they're on a job. He keeps his hair long, despite the fact that it always looks like he never brushes it. Long hair hides his scar. He isn't very concerned with looking neat or professional, except for the rare times they're at the Ministry. When he does put in the effort he cleans up alright. Harry has a face that would be classified more as interesting than handsome, but he has a kind smile and an approachable manner that sets people at ease. He doesn't come across as over confident, but there is a quiet air of authority there that he isn't ever able to totally turn off.

Harry got contact lenses recently, because he was tired of going blind every time he lost his glasses. Plus without the signature round lenses he's a little less obvious. He still wears them occasionally though, like an old friend.
history
Childhood Harry was a lonely child. An orphan left with a cruel aunt and uncle and an even crueler cousin. He learned early that he was unlovable, and that he could never truly count on anyone. He had no friends, and never expected to make any. Not gifted with a strong imagination, Harry wasn't even able to pretend that he lived somewhere else. This was just life. It would never get any better.

Hogwarts If you had known him as a boy you would have said Harry Potter was the least likely child in the universe to be a wizard. Dull, drab, empty eyed Harry, special? No. Never. And yet the letters came, hundreds of them, and a giant burst into an old wooden shack on his eleventh birthday. Harry went from being nothing to being the most famous wizard alive. It was a lot to deal with. But for the first time in his life Harry felt a bit of hope. He would be out of his uncle's house, out from under Dudley's shadow. Maybe things could be different.

The first four years of Hogwarts were like a dream for Harry. He found his first real friend in Ron, and then Hermione. He wasn't alone anymore, and those friendships would literally save the world. He did have to face Giant snakes, dementors, dragons and Voldemort, but the good things far out outweighed the bad and he was truly happy.

The other constant in his life, whether he liked it or not, was Draco Malfoy. Their rivalry started the moment they met, and they butted heads constantly the entire time they were in school together. Harry had what could be considered an unhealthy fixation on Draco. He was constantly wondering what the other boy was up to, and was convinced that he was at the bottom of most of Harry's problems. The fact that he was often right didn't make his obcession any less strange. He never learned how to just walk away from Draco, and spent way too much time thinking about him. Sometimes Draco even invaded his dreams. Most were closer to nightmares, but occasionally the dreams were more on the confusing side. Draco shouldn't end up shirtless in so many of their dream arguments...

fifth and sixth years were a whirlwind of angst, danger and heartbreak. With Ron and Hermione at his side he was able to make it through the fire, barely. Losing Sirius and then Dumbledore was devastating. But Voldemort was back, and Harry was the only one who could stop him.

The War Harry didn't return to Hogwarts for his seventh year. Instead he, Ron, and Hermione went out in search of the Horcruxes. However, the discovery of the Deathly Hallows became the biggest obsession Harry ever had. The ability to conquer death… he couldn't imagine anything more appealing. His parents, Cedric, Sirius, Dumbledore. So many mistakes he could make right. But more than that, it might mean he'd survive. The prophecy had been running in the back of his mind ever since he first heard it. Neither can live. Neither can live. Harry knew that when it came down to him or Voldemort, he wasn't going to be the one who walked away. But if he was the master of death, maybe, just maybe, he'd have a chance.

In the end it didn't matter. Harry saw the destruction around him, the death, and he couldn't let it continue. Remus and Tonks, Lavender, Colin. Fred. And dozens of others. No. Harry knew how to stop it all, and he was ready.

He wished he could have said goodbye to his friends, but they would have just tried to stop him. Besides, nothing he said to them now could describe how he truly felt about them. He would just have to believe that they knew. He walked into that forest with his parents beside him, and he never expected to walk out. He was ready to die.

But he didn't.

When he woke up to Narcissa Malfoy kneeling beside him he didn't know what to think. He did know that she could have easily ended him right then and there, but she didn't. Her love for her son was greater than any loyalty to Voldemort. So, he lived. He waited, and when the moment was right he faced Voldemort for the last time. It was almost a let down, seeing Voldemorts empty husk. For all his posturing, he died an ordinary man.

After the War Harry didn't return to Hogwarts for his seventh year. Instead, he went with Ron to join the Auror academy. The last seven years had prepared him for parts of the training, but he found himself constantly straining against the rules. He was used to doing things his own way, and counting on only his friends. With the Aurors there was a right way and a wrong way, and Harry always seemed to find himself doing things the wrong way. Honestly, if he hadn't been the “Savior” he probably would have flunked out. Thank goodness for Ron, who grounded him through it all and kept him from losing his mind.

It was hard, those first few years. Harry constantly expected the other shoe to drop, and really didn't know how to handle ordinary, average life. The dead haunted his dreams, and the stress of just getting by made him lash out, especially at Ginny. He didn’t blame her when she left, he all but pushed her out the door. He expected Ron and Hermione to give up on him too, but they never did.

The years at the Ministry were both a blessing and a curse. The rules and mundane day to dayness of it grounded him in a way he hadn’t known he’d needed, and he slowly began to acclimate to the lifestyle. His temper began to even out again, and he was slightly more well adjusted. The cases they solved made Harry feel like he might actually be making up for everything. But there were still cases they didn’t figure out, or worse, cases where they did everything they could and still lost lives. He added each name to the long list in his mind.

He met Colleen at the Ministry. She was a junior secretary at magical games and sports, and she had moved to England from Canada when she was seventeen. She had no idea who he was when they met in the elevator, and Harry was instantly obsessed with her. He wooed her in his own, awkward way, and eventually she succumbed to his charms. She was the first person he had ever met who didn’t know his story, who didn’t take little glances at his scar, and it was the most refreshing thing he had ever experienced. He let himself believe this might be it. But no one changes over night, and she wasn’t ready to deal with his issues. She spent the night once, and that was it. After Colleen he went on a few dates with a few nice girls, but it always ended the same way. He decided that it was much easier to be alone.

Hi! I'm so excited for a Hermione! Yay!
So, Jess said she's filled you in on Harry and his emotional immaturity and his insane relationship with Draco, lol. But do you have e any wants/needs from Harry? He will adore her, obviously, and would consider her the be all end all of everything. Aka does Hermione say it's okay? Then it's fine. If that works for you?

Oh yes, Hermione is drinking about it so she doesn't say something unintentionally mean. Like "Please don't co-sign anything or adopt any dogs together". She really worries about his heart but also finances.

It works great! I feel like she'll rely on the PI boys not only to exchange info but also to take her out drinking when she's had a really hard day. She wants to exact change from the inside but the inside is so hard.

Hermione is the smart one! Lol. Yes, it's all insane. She and Ron can drink together.

She can count on Harry for anything. Literally anything. She and Ron are the only family he has, and he loves her. So if it's shady information, ten beers, or someone to talk to Harry will always be in her corner. Are you good with basically a brother/sister dynamic between them?

Yeah they're set to share some fire whiskey on account of this development. She's going to be so sneakily vigilant of Harry and Draco like I CAN'T LET THIS GO OVER THE LINE. THERE IS A LINE, THERE WAS ONE BUT THEY CROSSED IT BUT THIS ONE THEY SHALL NOT!

I love that, yes please, found family is the best thing in the world! ♥

Good luck Hermione! Harry is a full time job!

Excellent! Harry's all about found family, and Ron and Hermione are the people he is absolutely closest to in the world. I'm really excited to play with you!

Oh I bet. If he steps out of line she'll send him a Howler. Every hour.

I love this! I'm excited too thanks for being so welcoming!
