PERSONALITY
"A symbol to the nation. A hero to the world. The story of Captain America is one of honor, bravery and sacrifice.”
While that description may be true according to everyone in the world, a few people know the real Steve Rogers as quiet, humble almost to a fault and just a kid from Brooklyn. He’s the little guy who was given the opportunity to stand against bullies to protect those who can’t protect themselves. His selflessness and courage in the face of situations impossible for him to win was exactly why he was chosen to receive the super soldier serum. Most men would be tempted to misuse the abilities, even by accident, but not Steve. His hatred of bullies keeps him from becoming one himself.
He is very private, preferring to keep to himself. That isn’t to say he is antisocial. Once he decides to be your friend it sticks. He even went so far as to make a peaceful gesture to Tony after the events of Civil War. Steve firmly disagreed with Tony’s actions, but he understood his motives. Still, he reached out to Tony to offer his help.
An argument could be made that Steve is too stubborn. Too unwilling to bend. It was what led to the rift in the Avengers over the Sokovia Accords. What made him a fugitive for standing with Bucky. While those circumstances ended positively, they very easily could have gone in a bad direction. People he cared about did get hurt. Were arrested, and to a degree, tortured. Steve blames himself, even while he doesn’t regret his stance.
Steve has a list of morals that he strictly adheres to. In the modern day he knows they are outdated, therefore he doesn’t try to foster them onto anyone. He does, however, hold himself to their high bar, seeing them as the honorable way to live. There might be a small part of him that hopes his example might inspire someone to old fashioned goodness, but most of him is realistic about that pipedream. And despite how much ribbing he takes for being the boy scout Steve steadfastly holds on to his morals. They were what qualified him to receive the serum and carry the shield. Maintaining them is his way of paying homage to Dr. Erskine, his mother who instilled them in him and Peggy who had admired them even before his change into Captain America.
APP QUESTIONS Pick two to four of the questions from here! Give us a sentence or two (or more!)
What animal best represents your character's personality? Steve loathes this question because he’s always called this when not called a Boy Scout. A golden retriever. He doesn’t understand why which makes it even funnier.
What is your character's favorite kind of weather and why? Autumn. Crisp, slight wind. It’s the best weather for relaxing with a beer, watching football, or going for a walk to admire the foliage. Steve is a baseball fan first and foremost, but Spring just doesn’t have the same feel.
What sport would your character try if they had the chance? Baseball. Steve loves baseball. He never got to play before he was given the serum. His asthma kept him from being able to run bases. Not to mention, if he swung a bat, there was the real possibility he’d knock himself in the head.
Your character auctions themself for charity. Why would someone pay big dollars for your character? Have you SEEN his abs?! Or his chest? Not to mention you could bounce a quarter off his ass. That’s America’s ass!
