OPEN AND SHUT CASE LEADS TO LIFE WITHOUT PAROLE FOR LOCAL WOMAN
By JO ANN BOBBY-GILBERT - Staff Writer, Morning Journal News
EAST LIVERPOOL- A local woman plead and was found guilty of first degree murder today in Columbiana County in an open and shut case, as described by local authorities. Crimson Moretti, 25, was accused of the vicious murder of Victoria Wilkins, 24, that took place on the 2nd of this month. Wilkins was found by local authorities after they responded to a noise complaint called in by a neighbor of a nearby apartment, who reported screaming and sounds of a scuffle. They arrived at the scene to find Moretti covered in blood and still in possession of the murder weapon, a knife with a six inch blade.

If this heinous crime was not worthy of her sentencing, the way she acted during the trial certainly was. After being held in contempt for refusing to acknowledge anyone speaking to her using her full name, the defendant smiled on the stand through most of her questioning and did not spare any detail regarding her actions. Regarding her reasoning for the crime, Moretti stated that “(she) deserved it for what she had done to her (the defendant’s) brother.” Upon elaboration of this, it appears the crime was committed solely as revenge for Wilkins’ unfaithful ways. When the crime scene photos were put on display for the jury, Moretti giggled at their reactions and asked for ‘constructive criticism on her masterpiece.’ Judge Carol Ann Rob made it clear to Moretti that she had never seen anyone with the level of lack of remorse that she was showing and that she would push for the highest punishment possible.

Moretti was sentenced to life with no parole and was then transported to the Ohio Reformatory for Women, located in Marysville, Ohio, to serve out her sentence.
