The Slytherin vs Gryffindor game is usually the highlight of the Quidditch season here at Hogwarts. From what I've noticed over the years, the outcome of this game generally sets the stage for whatever comes next in the season and significantly affects how it will all turn out in the end. So, I think it's interesting to note that this game is being held so far into the season. For those of you who haven't noticed (and I'm really not sure how you might have missed it unless you've been living under a Hippogriff for the last few months), Hufflepuff is in the lead in points at the moment.

Very interesting indeed.

In other, non-Quidditch related news, my mother owled me just the other day to tell me she purchased a rare portrait of Anne Boleyn. If any of you are art enthusiasts, there is actually a portrait of her on the Grand Staircase near the second-floor landing. As the story goes, for those of you who don't know, Boleyn was accused by Muggles of being a witch, though she was actually a Squib. A very rare painting of her was thought to be lost, but my mother was able to track it down and locate its position. Smart woman, my mother. I do wonder what she'll do with it now.

And that's all the time I have for my musings this evening. Stay tuned for my next update where I'll be discussing Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec and Post-Impressionism.

Of course Hufflepuff is in the lead. We've got the best players out there right now. Don't think this lets you off easy, Summerby. Next time, don't let the other team get so many points before you catch the bloody snitch.

First of all, Smith, as you very well know, I don't want things to be easy. If I wanted that, I would have opted for your job.

Secondly, the game doesn't work that way. You don't know anything about being a Seeker, that the Snitch reveals itself only when it wants to be caught and not any time before then. I have no control over that.

Plus, it isn't my job to score points for the team. I believe that's your job, Smith. Or is that too much for you to handle while I win your matches for you?

Shows what you know. It's my job as Captain to know how every position works. Just because you see the thing doesn't mean you have to catch it. Or maybe we should get your eyes checked so you can see it sooner next time.

Hahaha. If you "win" any matches it's only because of my coaching. Besides, we win together as a TEAM, in case you didn't know that one.

Yes. And a fine Captain you are indeed. Said no one ever Believe me, if I see it, I'll catch it. There's nothing wrong with my eyesight, though if you'd rather I catch it before you can score enough points to get us ahead, I won't be held responsible for the backlash.

You don't coach me. You never have. My father is my coach. He's taught me everything I need to know, and from there, I make my own judgment calls. And as a TEAM, you can't go without my 150 points for catching the Snitch. Just in the last two matches our Chasers have scored 12 and 11 goals to the other teams' 10. You can't tell me I'm not a team player when I've held up my end every single time while you as a Chaser and a Captain haven't consistently done quite as much. Numbers don't lie, Smith.

Good. Just keep your eye on the Snitch and we'll be just fine.

Never said you weren't a team player. Maybe you do need your eyes checked. I might just lead us to our first house cup since I've been at Hogwarts this year. So yes, numbers don't lie.

Don't tell me what I know I need to do, and then we'll be fine.

Maybe you need to get off your high horse and stop treating people like you rule them.

Maybe you need some lessons on manners and I'll be nicer.

You can dish it, but you can't take it, huh? Nice. Oh if only we weren't teammates

She sure as hell is. Though I suppose you just say that because she is your pumpkin pie supplier.

What can I say? She makes the best pumpkin pies! She spoils me, you know, and I'm not even her son.

Sometimes it's almost as if she likes you better than she likes me. Which is fine. It's better for her to spread her attention out to people other than me for a change.

I know how that feels, but I guess I'm glad I've my dog for them to turn their attention to while I'm gone. Otherwise I'd be hearing a lot from them while away. You should invest on a pet, man. Or, I don't know, bring home a girl?

Your dog is the coolest, man. And I've thought about it. I have Horatio, but he's mostly here with me at Hogwarts. Not exactly the kind of pet who gets a lot of attention either. And I've never brought home a girl. They don't stick around long enough to want to meet my parents.

Or maybe you don't let them stick around?
