Powers: Magnetokinesis - Polaris has an ability to manipulate magnetism and she can control and manipulate metals at will. This ability also gives her the following:
Weaknesses: It should be said that while Lorna definitely has the potential to use her powers at the same level as Magneto, she is no where near that skilled. She spent a great deal of time before the institute controlling her powers just enough to ignore them. On top of this, she was always a bit scared to experiment too much with them until the last few years. She's also lacking the decades of experience that Magneto has spent with his. So she's still learning to hone these individual applications to her powers, and some are catching on easier than others.
…HISTORY; | ||||
Abigail and Roxanne Johnson never really got along. Roxanne was always the responsible one of the family, while her older sister Abigail seemed to relish in making her family worry about her. Her disappearing and showing up weeks later was a common occurrence, and Roxanne hated it. She had to deal with everything, while Abigail just said that she was out living life to the fullest and that Roxie just needed to calm down. It was during one of these habitual leaves of absence that Roxie finally lost it and refused to speak to her sister ever again. She was twenty, and she wouldn't see her sister again for another five years. In this time Roxie went to college, got a job, married a brilliant man who she loved named Jeremy Dane, and effectively got on with her life. Every once in a while she'd wonder about her sister and she regretted the fight they had, but there was very little she could do about it now. One day while she she was coming home with groceries, Roxie saw her sister again. Abigail was sitting there on the porch swing like she had never been gone. She was invited in, mostly because Roxie sensed something different in her sister, and over tea a couple of the stories of Abby's adventures were told. What brought her back? She was pregnant, and with that news she decided that she needed to get her life together. Whether it was guilt for their last argument or how defeated her sister looked with no where to go, Roxie didn't know, but she instantly told her that she'd be staying in their guest room until she figured herself out. The sisters reconnected in a way they never did growing up. A few months later Lorna was born. She was strong; she was healthy; and, she had green hair. It was evidence that she was not a normal child, but the doctor's brushed it off as some pigment disorder and handed her back to her mother. As soon as it was safe to do so, Lorna's hair was dyed brown, and it remained so for most of her life. Then tragedy struck. Lorna wasn't even a year old, and she has no recollection of this time in her life, but her mother was killed in a car accident on her way back from work. Roxanne and Jeremy, who'd been trying to conceive with no luck, jumped at the chance to adopt Lorna. Lorna grew up in Rio Vista, California near Sacramento. As an only child in an upper-middle class household she needed for nothing, and wanted for rarely nothing. She really wasn't spoiled or anything. She was just a naturally good kid. She did well in school, and she mostly acted like a normal child. She was a bit of an overachiever, but it was nothing serious. Lorna grew into her powers at 14, basically when having an argument with her family she lost her temper and a metal floor lamp crashed to the floor. Her parents from then on ignored any of the strange things that sometimes happened around her, and Lorna did her best to stop them from happening in general. She could see the hysteria on the news about mutants, and she herself was in a bit of denial. Her goal was to keep it in check and work on everything else she wanted. For a long while, she was able to keep the secret from everyone but her parents. This only lasted for a couple of years. Professor Xavier came to her house, and while her parents didn't want her to go, Lorna decided that it was probably the best place for her. And with that she said goodbye to the life she knew and went to New York. Lorna didn't adjust the best at first. Firstly, she missed the west coast. Secondly, the friends she had at home were people she'd known since kindergarten, and as such her social skills were a bit stunted. After a few months the mansion actually began to feel like home. She hadn't realized how much keeping a secret from everyone had been weighing on her. Her time at Xavier's was important to her. She'd made good friends, learned to use her abilities, and when she finished school she decided to go to NYU as opposed to back home because she wanted to stay close, and she was a bit of a academic nut. She continued training as she was a student. Especially since her powers expanded a bit, and she needed the help. When she graduated college, she did decide to go for a master's degree, but she quit after a semester. She decided she had plenty of time to do this, but this was a time of adventure in her life. After spending a year traveling abroad, she finally went home to California. While it was San Fransisco and not Sacramento, it hardly mattered to her. She been with X-Factor ever since the move in late 2006 and loving it for the most part.
