So it seems I'm taking a job at the Prophet. A proper, full-time one, I mean, and not just taking the odd shot for them now and again.

The only dilemma is, I can't think of what to do with my shop. It's not exactly a cash cow, but it seems a shame to shutter it completely. For one thing, I rent out the flat above it, and I'd probably end up moving if I close it, which is just one more hassle. But if I actually have to pay people other than myself to staff it full-time, it'll probably end up just costing me money. Especially with how it seems like there's fewer and fewer people out shopping in Diagon Alley every day now.

I don't know. Reckon I can try holding on to it for a while, and if it goes under, well, it goes under.

Alright, I'll admit it. There's a sentimental attachment. It's my baby. My poorly lit, dusty, often frustrating, not very popular, not particularly lucrative baby. So figuring out just what to do about it is harder than it should be.

That's prime real estate, that. You'd get a good bit if you sold it, probably. I understand what you mean about sentimental attachment, though, I suppose. But at a certain point, you just have to be practical.

Why dont you just keep it open on weekends when more people are out shopping. Or when you have time off from the DP, like on certain nights.

That's a thought. I'd never make rent if I only kept it open on weekends, but maybe some sort of reduced hours would help.

You're free to grab a few interns from the halls to help out. They work for near anything!

And I am glad to have you on board with us, by the way. Feel free to spruce your office up with anything from mine, if you feel the need. My vases are your vases.

I wouldn't be so quick to offer up your vases if I were you. In her hands they'll probably end up broken. Or at least full of firewhiskey.

I was thinking daffodils.

Daffodils and sentimentality all in one journal post. I'm not sure what to do about this.

Propose, obviously.

Now, which ones are daffodils again?

Damned if I know. I think they might be yellow.

Sounds about right. Please note that even in my newfound sentimentality and femininity I don't stoop to roses, yeah?

Do you remember when that drunk singer urinated in one? Firewhiskey would be a welcome reprieve.

That's what you get for keeping vases around, Diggs.

Dorcas Meadowes, sentimental? Why, I never.

Feckin hell though, girl, if you needed me you could've just asked. You know how hard up for a job I am. And what the hell are you doing full time at the Prophet, anyway?

Well you never, but I sometimes.

You want to work in my shop? Have at it. Just don't go filching from the till, yeah? I'll notice.

Mostly I take photos.

You rarely, I think.

Sure. I'll step in until you find someone permanent, at least.

Yeah, I get that. But honestly? Photos at the bleeding Prophet over your shop. I mean really, I'm not there anymore. What'll you do full time?

Yes, extremely. I was lying before because it sounded clever.

That would be brilliant, actually. I didn't want to ask you before because I didn't want to insult you by suggesting it was on par with your skill set. Mind now, my customers have come to expect a certain level of surliness. Don't let them down.

Take bloody photos full time, that's what I'll do. And hang round whoever's sitting at your desk now and bother them, for old time's sake.

I don't care much about my skill set at the moment. Besides, I've got a couple of leads on jobs but this'll work for both of us for a couple of weeks, at least.

Well then, enjoy all the politics and self-aggrandizement that comes with the job. Bet you'll be sick of it in six months' time, or less.

Oi, you don't have to piss all over my job just because you didn't like working there. Frankly I'm not entirely sure how this whole actually employed thing is going to work out for me and I'm trying to be positive about it. I took the job on the condition that I could take photos of the real stuff, the stuff that matters, and Diggle and me and hopefully others are going to do our best to get it out there. Maybe that's all going to fall apart, I don't know, but it sounds like it's worth a shot.

Just because you
