History:

April 2nd, 1977 the Delacours welcomed their first child into their family. Like her mother, the new baby girl was incredibly beautiful, even at birth. Seeing her daughter in her arms, Apolline decided to name her Fleur Isabelle Delacour, as she was as beautiful as a flower. Carbonelle was slightly disappointed to see that his first child was not a son, though when he first looked at his beautiful girl, he instantly fell in love. As the only child for years, Fleur was doted upon and spoiled as much as her parents could manage. When she was younger, Fleur was provided with everything that she could ever wish for, and as she grew, so did her tastes.

With only one child to care for, Carbonelle and Apolline dedicated much of their home life to ensuring that Fleur’s grew up well, and that nothing could ever stop her from achieving her dreams. Although the Delacours were by no means well off, they were very comfortable, and Carbonelle was able to easily provide for his wife and child. As the child of traditionalists, Fleur grew up in a all magical household, with all of the values and traditions of the older magical families of France. Although the traditions felt a little silly to Fleur, she really didn’t mind them most of the time, and had a fairly enjoyable and carefree childhood.

A few short weeks before her 9th birthday, Fleur’s younger sister was born. Gabrielle was the highlight of Fleur’s young life. The event had a massive impact on Fleur who immediately took a liking to the little baby girl and liked to pretend that Gabrielle was her little plaything, her doll. Although she only had two years to know her sister before going off to school, Fleur spent about as much as she possibly could with her new baby sister. Although Beauxbatons would tear her away from her new baby sister, Fleur would continue to write to Gabrielle, and spend as much time with her whenever she was at home.

By the time Fleur attended Beauxbatons she was already quite used to getting everything she could possibly want, and was scarcely told no. As such, it was quite shocking for her to suddenly find out that indeed, the world did not revolve around her. In fact, the entire fact that classes, and teachers and other students weren’t at all interested in her was quite novel.

Nevertheless, Fleur learned quickly whom to trust and how to do well in her new location. With each coming year, Fleur learned more about her school, the students and social behaviour. Beauxbatons quickly became her new home, and the few friends she made in the process would become her closes friends for life. Although she would have several boyfriends throughout his years at Beauxbatons, Fleur would find her girl friends to be the most significant friendships made whilst at the school. It was how they didn’t react to her, the way they treated her that helped cement their friendship.

As years passed and Fleur got older, girls at hiser school started to hate spending time with Fleur, as it would often mean that they may lose their boyfriends as the boys tried, in vain, to win her heart. When she was younger, Fleur would often use this to her advantage, to toy with someone who'd been mean to her, or ruin someone's chances with certain boys. As a result Fleur quickly earned a reputation at Beauxbatons, despite the fact that Fleur hadn’t actually dated many people. As such, Fleur was very selective with the people she allowed close to her. She needed to trust her friends, and found this matter to be quite difficult.

Adept at both her studies and homework, Fleur did well in all of her classes, dedicating time and energy to ensuring that she would achieve high mark. It was for this reason, that in her final year, when the Triwizarding Tournament was announced, Fleur was more than excited to join in the adventure. As she boarded the carriage, Fleur was quite confident that she would be chosen as the Beauxbatons champion, and certain that she would emerge victorious.

The trip to Hogwarts turned out to be an interesting venture in more than one way. She was incredibly excited to begin the tournament. What promised to be a great venture started off well with a trip to England via a large flying carriage. The introduction to Hogwarts and Great Britain that followed was both educational and fascinating. Although at first, Fleur continued compare it to France, she soon grew accustomed to her new surroundings.

Each task was harder than the last, but Fleur did her best, excelling at her charm work and quick thinking as she dodged the dragons. It would have worked, if the dragon hadn’t snored and singed her skirt. Still, she managed to get the egg in the end, which was really what mattered. The pressure of the following task was thankfully lessened slightly with the announcement of the Yule Ball. Although she originally wanted to attend with Cedric, his date with Cho meant Fleur had to find a suitable partner. She’d been disappointed, but quickly found a suitable replacement in Roger Davies. He turned out to be a rather lovely bloke, if not a little star struck, as they generally were.

Like the first task, Fleur had been warned by Madame Maxime how to attain her hint. Knowing that she’d have to dive into the lake, Fleur practiced the bubble-head charm for days. What she hadn’t expected was that her little sister’s life was going to on the line. Her good luck didn’t last long at all when the Grindilows attacked her, forcing Fleur to turn around. She gained few points, but what mattered most to Fleur had been the safety of her sister. When Viktor and Cedric returned with their hostages, Fleur had to be physically restrained from rushing back into the water to try and save her sister. As luck would have it, the organisers returned Gabrielle to her sister and Fleur and Gabrielle were happily reunited.

As she prepared herself for the task at hand, Fleur had been fairly excited. She was nowhere near winning, having gotten the lowest point to date, but she was still fairly certain that thing could still turn around for her. After all, she was brilliant! Indeed, she’d done extremely well in the final task as she found her way to the reaching the cup before any of the other contestants. It wasn’t enough for her to win the tournament, but nothing negative could be said of her performance.

To say that Fleur was disappointed not to win the tournament would be an understatement. Each task had felt like a tiny failure and although she was proud of her performance, she was nevertheless displeased not to have won. The rest of the school year completed really quickly and soon Fleur was going home for the last time.

Fleur graduated from Beauxbatons not long after she returned from England. She was fairly disappointed to be graduating, only because she was concerned about her future, but because things had changed rather . In fact, shortly after returning to France, she started working on an application for a position at Gringotts. She'd been hoping to study finance, but after her time at Hogwarts decided she wanted to do so in England. The position at Gringotts, working as a clerk and helping with translations when necessary allowed her to get that. Improving her English was only going to work to her advantage and she knew that working at the world's oldest bank would be an important move for her career.

In the summer of 1995 Fleur finished her final year at Hogwarts and after a brief summer holiday made the move to London. It was a difficult adjustment at first. Not only was she surrounding herself with native English speakers, and very few who could understand French, but more importantly she was entirely alone. Over the upcoming months Fleur adjusted to her new home. It certainly helped that her parents weren't very far from London and that she could fire-chat frequently.

Canon Differences:

Fleur still attended the Triwizarding Tournament and although she didn't do particularly well overall, she put on a good showing. Her friendship with Harry never really developed which would have led to future and further involvement with the Order. Given the opportunity, she would likely still lean toward the Order, but the way things stand at the moment, she is currently uninvolved in politics. Equally important, Fleur has yet to meet Bill Weasley nor get married by now. Although she's dated men here and there, none of them have had a lasting impact upon her life.

SAMPLES

First Person: Answer one of the following questions in character. This is a first person writing sample. 200 words minimum.

Beauxbatons doesn't have a sorting hat. It's different at our school, though we are allocated housing, it's simply not feasible to house so many children in one large dormitory, the methods used to group children by their personality traits isn't used. Instead, the selection is done fairly randomly with 5 children, of each gender, allocated to one room. It can be a lot more problematic, and sometimes it seems that tighter bonds are formed with the associated Hogwarts houses, but I still feel a connection to my house. It was, nevertheless an incredibly nerve-wracking first day. After all, you're barely 11 in an entirely new place very well aware of the fact that for the next 9 months or so you will be living with these new people. It was slightly exciting, but overall I was rather overwhelmed. I did my best not to look too upset, it wasn't unusual to see someone sniffling and tearing up. Mostly though, I wanted to be a witch like maman and papa, and that meant having to try really hard to act like a big girl. When they'd announced my house I was surprised at first, I'd hoped to have one of my parents' houses but in the end it was more of a relief to be allocated my room so that the year could start.
