Fleur Isabelle Delacour ([info]fleur_) wrote,
"Oh, I see, living in sin with a Paulo." He joked, nudging her shoulder playfully. It wasn't far, but Bill would have preferred it had been miles away. Her weight at his side felt right, and the gently motion of her arm as they walked felt just as natural. "Are they all from France? I had flatmates in Egypt, two were Irish, one was from Surrey."

"Living in sin?" Fleur asked, giving him a playful look, before bitting her lower lip to keep herself from laughing. "What does zat mean?" She was rather interested in hearing just exactly what his answer would be. Glancing down the street toward her building, Fleur was beginning to wonder whether maybe this was a bad plan. "No, Anya is from Poland, and Maria and Paulo are from Spain; was it easier 'aving people from England there?"

"Living in sin? Oh, just ah- hedonism, it's an expression about two unmarried people of the opposite gender living together. 'Shacking up'. It has a sexual connotation." He squeezed their entwined fingers. "It was a joke." It was easy to forget the language barrier between them, but Bill no longer struggled with accepting it, at least he didn't now. There were still likely misunderstandings ahead. "I actually hated the one from Surrey. I got on best with the girl from Ireland, though ah- we were intimate, which explains quite a bit about that." Quickly his eyes cast in her direction, hoping the mention of an ex girlfriend didn't bring their ease to a complete and shocking halt. "I haven't seen her in over a year. It ended easily enough, but I'm sure that you've left quite the trail of broken hearted boys behind you at school."

"Hedonism." Fleur repeated the word, allowing it to roll across her tongue as she considered the meaning. She should probably ask, but clearly Bill was taking her just a little too seriously, and she didn't want him to think her completely stupid. She laughed easily as he mentioned hating his flatmate, though found herself a little uncertain as to what to say about hte mention of the ex-girlfriend. What could she say? Surely if she was what she wanted - was she prettier, smarter, better - she'd only sound mental. Instead, Fleur smiled politely and nodded. "Do you miss 'er?" Fleur asked, cursing herself for even thinking of asking that question when she so clearly did not want to know. She relaxed just a little at the change of subject, though that didn't last long as she thought back to her own past relationships. "Zere weren't many who weren't influenced. I am 'ow do you say, picky?"

"No, no. If I wanted to be with her than I would. I'm not because we decided that it wasn't going to work out." Bill truly felt that way, believing that relationships that were meant to be fleeting were meant to end. There was no going back after it was over. "My mum and dad, they've been together for ages, I've always wanted what they had, I've never been one for meaningless relationships, and I've never tried to force something that didn't fit. And she... she just didn't fit, yeah?" He was certain of a few things, but Fleur's influence was one of them. "Picky? No strand of abandoned boyfriends?"

Nodding, Fleur controlled her smile, though she was incredibly pleased to hear it. Maybe it was a bit much to hear him say he wanted a relationship like his mum and dad, but at the same time, it was refreshing to see someone who wasn't going to mince words. Besides, he was right, what was the point if it didn't lead anywhere or you weren't happy. Fleur laughed then shook her head at his question. "No. Zere 'ave been two boyfriends, yes? Both are back 'ome. Zere was also ze boy, Roger, at Hogwarts, but we only went to ze Yule Ball. He was nice, but a little - not right? For me. Ze rest, well I can't 'elp zat." If she were perfectly honest, Bill had done a brilliant job of distracting her from Roger, but that was a story for another night.
