Victoire has decided to give up broccoli for lent. I've tried explaining to her how it doesn't quite work that way, but she was having any of it. I do sometimes think I give in far too easy, though what can one do against that little face? I'm sure we'll find plenty of other vegetables for her to eat over the next forty days.

Dominique's perfectly behaved, as usual though she did want to know why she couldn't help Vic. She was a little disappointed, but Dom's quite good at bouncing back, she was back playing with her blocks quickly enough. She's been spending loads of time with her blocks though, I keep telling Bill we may have an architect on our hands.

Our Louis is standing now, not for long, but he's getting himself up on his own. Dominique keeps trying to 'help' which is probably why he's managing. It's rather sweet actually, though I think she's annoying her little brother.

I suppose I should not go on about them, but it's surprising how quickly they all change.

Bill
Love, could you pick up milk on the way home? Louis had an 'accident' with the milk bottle.

Ah, fasting and self-deprivation. Now there's a Christian holiday I can get behind.

Do you not like the other holidays?

No. Too many sweets. I'm not used to jealousy but chocolate bunnies are excellent at inspiring it. I think we've probably got the market cornered on baked goods but that doesn't really compare to having a religious excuse to call whatever fits into a basket a reasonable and appropriate amount of sugar for children.

I know it. Halloween and Easter are days full of hyperavery bouncy children. They're not allowed too many sugars, but it doesn't take much.

Even I'm pretty sure that's not how lent works.

Explaining that to a four year old is not so easy.

You have to give her some credit. It is a rather clever approach.

I do, she's a clever little girl, it's why she's allowed to keep it though.

Dunno what Lent is, but I agree with giving up broccoli. Smart kid.

Our Vic's a little genius.
