Amber: Apparently we're the morality police now
It's so annoying to come off the wonderful high that was Facebook Places debuting (you're mine, Foursquare) to find this:

Facebok Blocks Ads for Pot Legalization Campaign.

Firstly, they sure as hell didn't consult me about this. Apparently, I'm going to have to have a talk with some people about who's in charge the proper procedure for deciding this kind of thing. I'd never let them use Facebook to sell drugs (that's what Craigslist is for, people), but marijuana legalization is a perfectly legitimate political cause.

And God damn it, how do any of those morons think alienating our users is going to help anything? Facebook didn't become Facebook by trying to force people to act or believe a certain way. I want all people and their delicious secrets, not just the ones the corporations really want as customers. It's not rocket science.

I just don't understand why anyone at the company would think I'd approve of this.

...Marcus.
ETA: BRB, hurting Marcus.

Is there a particular reason you did this, sweetie pie? I only ask because it will determine how hard I hit you.

I don't think kids should be exposed to the terrible dangers that marijuana poses. Think of the children!

Really, Marcus? A meme?

Did I forget to explain that with my exciting new Facebook Places feature, I can find you anywhere? Whoops. BRB tracking you down like a dog.

It's really a shame, both that you're likely going to lose users because of this and that my campaign is being wrongfully censored. I mean, Google approved my ads, but, still, censorship in general simply doesn't sit right with me.

Oh, yes, I'm the Marijuana Party. I'm sorry that we're meeting each other under such less-than-positive circumstances.

Oh, hi! It's nice to meet you!

I'm so sorry about this. I completely agree, and censorship is totally against what Facebook stands for. Part of it appears to be my idiot brother's doing and he will pay, but I'll be having a talk with my executives too. Honestly, it's like even mentioning pot makes some people stop thinking completely.

Hi! Sorry for the random I-don't-know-you comment, but Just Say Now contacted party headquarters and I got wind of this a few minutes ago and felt the need to speak up.

Well, I'm not going to say it's okay, because censorship is never okay, but I get that we can't always control our mortals to the extent we'd like. It's good that you'll be talking to your executives! But, yeah, I don't get it either, alcohol and tobacco are far more harmful and addictive than marijuana- and if I start rambling, I'll never stop, so I'll just say that it's sad to see the continued demonization of marijuana, especially on a forum that prides itself on acceptance.

No, it's completely fine and I totally understand. Ugh, I'm just so embarassed to be meeting you this way.

It's especially stupid because I started out as a college site, and if there's one thing college students have a strong opinion about, it's marijuana. This is completely relevant to the interests of my users, and it's being censored. Ridiculous.
