Amber: Aging is not something that can ever happen to me. No. Never.

This chart upsets me.

I know it shouldn't. It's so great that Facebook appeals to people of all age ranges. It makes me happy, and productive, and it's good for the site and the company.

But the average age of Facebook users is 38. What does that mean for me? What if I end up getting old?

Also, the only reason Myspace's average age is younger than mine is because the only people on that site are thirteen-year-olds and pedophiles.

So I was going to do my usual schtick where I talk about how much you suck (which you do, so much. The company is paying for the doctor bills), but I suddenly saw a future with sixty-year-olds rickrolling other sixty-year-olds and I'm not sure how to feel about it.

I'd feel depressed at the thought that we'll still be rickrolling people thirty years in the future. This is what George Orwell was talking about.

...rickrolling was not even close to what George Orwell was talking about.

Sure it was. "If you want a vision of the future, imagine Rick Astley's shoes dancing on a human face - forever."

For fuck's sake, Amber, it's like eight in the morning. Have you seriously already started drinking?

I can get as drunk as I want to whenever I want to, I'm a god. And considering the small mountain of Pabst that I found in your apartment, you've got no room to talk. Also, seriously, Pabst? Ew.

All that booze is just going to make you look old. Older than you're already going to look, that is.

If I have to get old, so do you. Enjoy getting bald and impotent.

Let's face facts: You are what you were made to be, and now you either take the reins and set the path for yourself, or you burn out like most other fads before you... at their leisure.

Free will and all that.

That's a good point. I'm the company, I'm the website, I can take it whatever direction I...

Hey! I'm not a fad!

People like a guiding hand. You'd be surprised how far subtlety can go, when you let others think they're the ones making the decisions.

Mm. Of course you're not.

Oh, I've totally noticed that. Like, we used to have really boring privacy settings before I helped everyone understand that part of the fun of Facebook is learning about everything your friends are doing.

I'm not! Google and Wikipedia aren't fads, and I'm just as important to the Internet as they are.

Et voila! So keep it going. You can either coerce them into doing what you want, or you can roll over and be one of those sad little Greek things.

Does that help?

Makes me rather glad I don't have a facebook account. I don't even understand that tweet, twit, whatever the hell it is. I don't want my mom having an easy access to me

You should get one! Facebook has nothing to do with Twitter, and is totally superior anyway. You can keep track of everyone and play games!

There's not anyone I care to keep track of, or to keep track of me for that matter. That's like throwing up the wild card with big flashing lights. 'Come find me'. Urm. No.

Facebook totally has privacy settings only because I'll have the law on me if it didn't, don't worry. It's such a fun social experience, you should at least try it out.

I'm not exactly the social monster as the rest of the world. A few bad kicks in the gut kind of threw me in the opposite direction though I'm learning again.

Facebook is a totally safe place, though. You can block creepy people and control who your friends are and who can see if you're online. Also, having an account would let you untag yourself from unflattering pictures.

I'm not a friendly guy, I don't think I have a contact list to write to. Pictures? I'd sooner put up one of this demon spawn of a cat than my face. You sound like you're trying to sell me.

Awww, you have a cat? You could put up pictures of it, the Internet loves cats! And don't be silly, I'm not trying to sell you anything. Facebook is always here if you change your mind.

I would like to say had, but the little slaughter house likes to curl up beside me. She's as ugly as Hades but it's what I've got.

I'll keep it in mind, I suppose, but the very idea makes me uneasy.
