Please forgive me if I seem out of sorts, rushed, or otherwise flustered for the next few weeks. I am afraid I look forward to being all of the above.

Good news, the first day went well, I should say! It's always good to see so many fresh faces, eager to learn!

[Private to Padfoot]

I am convinced the queen secretly wishes me dead.

Or maybe this was another one of those games of yours.

Either way, can you please make a list of the arrangements I must make before your impending nuptials?

Oh I don't know if I should.

Forgive me?

Exactly. Should I? Should I not. There are things I need to consider.

How about the fact I put up with you for so many years at Hogwarts?

I thought it was my winning personality?

Have you ever actually listened to yourself, Mr. Potter? You are far too like your father in that respect. Good thing he happens to also be one of my dearest friends.

I don't see why you continue to teach when I keep you busier than a thousand teenagers ever could.

My mother wishes to kill everyone I like. It's part of her charm. What did she do this time?

This is true, but sadly, I do love my students.

I suppose that's true.

I'm just referring to this wedding and the sudden arrangements. They're ill timed.

I'll see about hiring another adviser to take some of the pressure off you. Not sure who else to trust, unless James is up for the job.

They are. At least most of the wedding's been planned for 'years,' according to that rag they call news. I cannot wait to be done with it.

I did mention to Daphne that I have no plans of consummating the marriage, if it does go through, so please be on the lookout for any poisons or whatnot my mother tries to throw in my direction.

I wouldn't mind working with James- I think it's an excellent idea, though I do feel bad whinging so much about this situation. I'm sorry, old friend. I suppose the wedding and age are getting to me this season.

Nor can I. It's odd, though, to think of you as a married man. How long do you suppose it will last?

You do realize how improper that seems, right? May I ask why?

Nor would I. Something to consider. Stop apologising. I will need more advisers when I am king, and it's best to get that sorted now.

Until one of us dies. If there were such thing as divorce in the Noble and Most Ancient House of Black, my mother would be long gone.

The obvious reasons.

Right. Very well. I think, then, it might be best to ask James sooner rather than later. He's been awfully busy lately, and you don't want him to commit to something else prior to your request.

That's rather daunting. I can understand why you are so reluctant...but, from what I can tell, Daphne seems to be a nice enough girl.

I'm not sure I understand- you haven't had trouble siring children before. Is there something I'm missing? I mean, beyond the general loathing you feel for Her Highness?

I'll get around to it next time I see the wanker.

She's a pureblood who was raised to hate anyone she deems "beneath her," and my mother approves of her. She is without a doubt irredeemable.

No marriage bed, no pregnancies. No pregnancies, no "legitimate heirs." No "legitimate heirs," no reason for my mother to finally go after my children.
