The best description of him is imposing, at 6’4” and well muscled, with deep blue eyes and sandy brown hair, kept short and tidy. He tends to also wear some stubble. His choice of clothing tends towards the practical, hardwearing and easy to wash blood out of. Distinguishing marks: Multiple tattoo’s all representing important events in Niro’s life, and mostly depicting animals or religious iconography Personality: Niro is incredibly cold and angry, having never experienced anything akin to real love, associating people that were meant to care for him with violence and fear. He does soften a little when in a ‘family’ situation, and would never hurt young children, but has little respect for anyone else and when angry enough doesn’t even notice who he’s hurting. Weaknesses Anger, inability to empathise with others, lack of respect for those he considers ‘inferior’, tendency to hit the weed a little too hard, in order to block out the past Items carried: Knuckle dusters History: Robert Andrews was born into a volatile and explosive family, an unwanted accident, who always knew this was the case. When Robert was three months old, his mother simply disappeared. The police investigated, fully believing that Alex Andrews, a thug, associated with a dangerous gang, had murdered his much younger wife. However the police were unable to find any solid evidence or a body, and eventually they left him alone. Rob grew up as the focus of his father’s rages, made worse by alcohol, which became his father's constant companion. His education suffered as his father kept him out of school to stop people asking questions about his injuries, which were always multiple and nasty. By the time he was sixteen, Rob had learned to fight back, but with dire consequences. After hospitalising his father in a particularly vicious set to, Rob found himself on the streets, and pulled into a gang to survive. His fighter’s streak quickly pulled him to the top. He was frightening in his furious, able to handle most weapons but getting the most satisfaction from the sound of fist cracking bone. As a career criminal, Niro found the one thing he wasn’t used to, a family, and a community. That community protected him from prosecution, even though he was arrested for violence many times, witnesses tended to withdraw or disappear, much as they had with his father. He was continuing to revel in his apparent invincibility when the Pulse hit. For a while it was like Shangri La for Niro and his ‘family’, everything went unmonitored, unpunished, but the family slowly perished. They were a smaller crew, and were picked off fairly quickly, forcing Niro to flee, abandoning everything he knew, including his name, taking on the name of his favourite movie star, Robert De Niro. Niro floated, surviving by winning bare knuckle fights after letting people bet against him, but people got wise and he soon struggled to find anyone willing to take him on. More than once he was attacked by gangs of people wanting to keep him out of their community. He followed his nose to somewhere where he might be welcome, rocking up at Stone Gap, eventually finding a place in the Chet his skill at keeping people in line gave him a strong place in the Chets Writing Sample: Niro strode the jetty, his boots clacking as the steel toe caps bounced on the damp wood. His own tribe were safe and busy, so it was his job to keep an eye on what was coming into the marina. Niro knew that Lot was the brains of the outfit and that his job was pretty much to strut around being threatening, even though Lot was perfectly capable of that too. There was nothing quite like being able to walk the docks, eyeing up the women and taking his anger out on people he was unlikely to ever see again. Who deserved it of course. The Pulse had made Niro’s life so much better than he could ever have imagined. This was his pinnacle, and he was perfectly happy to do whatever it took to maintain this lifestyle.
