010; 10 October 1979.
My deepest sympathies to the Avery family. I hope the DMLE will be able to find their daughter and son-in-law. I have two daughters of my own and know that if either of them were missing I would leave no stone unturned in pursuit of their safe return.

The entire situation is disturbing. Considering Mr Avery's dedication to the Ministry, I am certain that the DMLE must have had incontrovertible evidence his son was a confirmed Death Eater although the article listed none. It is certainly a terrible situation for all involved and the family is in my thoughts.

[Warded to Regulus]

Regulus Black I expect to see you at my manor tomorrow afternoon.

[Warded Private]
They gave none of the evidence for why they considered him a Death Eater, only that he was one. Granted the boy could not have been allowed to speak or he would have confirmed their accusation, but we know he did not, so their 'evidence' is as flimsy as their informant, and considering one if not both of their possible informants have disappeared, they can have little that would hold up in front of the Wizengamot. If I were Xavier, I think I would give serious thought to hiring lawyers and get his son's name cleared posthumously. Such a ruling from the Wizengamot would undermine the DMLE and throw question back onto how he was able to be killed while in DMLE custody - perhaps even make it look as if it were a vengeful killing by someone antagonized by Xavier, or even worse that the DMLE allowed it so that it could look as if they had captured a Death Eater. Most outcomes there would be favourable and the death ought to serve the Dark Lord in some way - which at the moment, it most certainly does not.

And Scandinavia. That most certainly can be done. I find time spent with her relaxing. I did not once think upon the situation with the Avery's or my lack of an heir the entire afternoon. She is poised, beautiful, educated, and clearly interested.

I think I shall stop by the shops before I return to Hertfordshire.

Certainly. Is this in regards to my research, and if so, what shall I bring along?

It is a truly horrifying thought - one child dead, another missing. My heart goes out to the Avery family as well. I can't even begin to imagine what it must be like.

I think any one who is a parent cannot help but place their thoughts in the direction of the Avery family. No parent should be required to bury their child.

I share this hope, Mr Nott. I came into work this morning hoping that I would get to report good news about the Corners' fate, but none came today, sadly. It is all quite a disturbing situation, indeed, and I do hope that the Ministry has solid evidence, despite their discretion on the topic.

[Mr Nott]
I wrote to the Averys to offer them our most sincere sympathies, but I cannot stop thinking about them. I can only begin to imagine how terrible it must be, losing their only son and heir in such a fashion. Have you heard from them since the news came out?

I know that you will keep us updated as best you can, Mrs Vaisley. I admit it troubled me that considering the lack of solid evidence they gave in their article - which can only lead me to presume they received no solid evidence from the Ministry, that the Daily Prophet would report it as such fact.

[Mrs Vaisley]
I have spoken to Xavier briefly. I can only begin to imagine, but I am certain they all appreciate our support.

I will, I can assure you.

It did surprise me as well, just as I was surprised by the tiny space they gave such a news, as if it was unimportant. I did not work when the news came out, so I don't know what information was available to the press at the time, but I would have to assume it was very little.

[Mr Nott]
I hope that they did receive plenty of support, for it would be such a shame if people shied away because of the circumstances.

It seems like it would have been a much larger story considering.

[Mrs Vaisley]
I should hope no one would do that. Certainly Lucia and I have not done so.

Indeed; I could hardly believe that there wasn't more of an uproar about it, as I wrote in my journal.

[Mr Nott]
Giles and I did not either, of course, and I hope that no one would, but I cannot help thinking that it might happen. Human nature can be so flaky, after all, though it could also be my cynicism showing its ugly head once more.

I suppose most people stop at the facts given and do not question.

[Mrs Vaisley]
Of course I am certain they have no real proof, but it is interesting how it was reported as if they did.

I should hope we all know that the devotion of the parents is a separate thing from the devotion of the child.

It would be safe to believe so.

[Mr Nott]
It is always interesting, to me, to see how others report the same news differently than I would. We all have our own style, of course, but also our own reading of events and it influences the importance we give to a story, the twist we put on it. This is clearly such a case.

We should hope so, yes.
