[Warded to Lucia]

I believe I said very clearly to move towards the door.

I will sleep in the spare room tonight. If you will be so kind as to bring me some salve, it would be appreciated.

I am unhurt. I simply couldn't get out. I hope I didn't distract you. If it is my fault you were hurt...

I will be in momentarily with tea and salve.

I am relieved you were not hurt. I should not have forgiven myself if something had happened to you.

Good.

You said the girls are asleep?

I am fine, and you will be fine. That is what's important.

Though it was terrifying to watch you duel. Every moment I was so, so worried for you. You are obviously an impressive duelist, but I am not sure I would have been able to maintain a facade of neutrality had you been injured as terribly as you injured Edgar Bones.

They are now. Prisca was fussing. I think she could tell I was upset when I went in to check on them, but I managed to calm her down. Singing usually works, and this time was no exception. Though really, Mademoiselle Yvette should have gotten her to sleep much earlier.

It was not my intention that you would need to see it at all, but what is done is done. Bones is a competent dueller, it is unfortunate his alliances put him on the wrong side. It can be dangerous, Lucia, but what our Lord asks of us is important.

I will talk to her tomorrow. It was no doubt the excitement of the holiday, but it is not good for them to be overly-excited and given the circumstances of last night they certainly should have been in bed.

You are right, I know. I just worry for you, beau.

And much as I will loathe it, I will, at some point, be required to express concern for Edgar's wellbeing. He is my cousin, after all, and I have familial obligations.

Okay. Hopefully you will be feeling better by then.

Do it. It seems likely he may have recognized you and it would be quite odd if you did not do so after everything. Just be prudent in how you express your concern.

I am certain this will heal up in a day or two at most. How do you feel about a late dinner on Thursday, ma cherie? Yvette can put the girls to bed and it will be just the two of us.

I'm sure that he did. I have inquired after him in my journal.

That would be lovely. It is our eleventh anniversary, after all. We ought to do something to celebrate it. Can you believe it has been so long?

So I see. Give him my regards and well wishes. If he asks after me, we were separated, but we both were fortunate in that our injuries are no more than scrapes or bruises.

I suppose considering that Tullia is ten I must believe it has been so long. I must train with young Regulus Black earlier in the evening. Around nine, if that is not too late?

I have. And if he asks, I will do just that.

It's our anniversary. Can't you train some other time? Or at least earlier--

If that's what you think is best.

Good.

It is unfortunately the way the evenings fall. If you would prefer you may have me all evening on Friday.

Clearly what I prefer does not factor in to this, even on our anniversary. I wonder, perhaps I will come first on my birthday, or is that still too much to ask.

Forgive me, I have made such a mess.

And it is your choice, Patrice. If you would prefer to celebrate our anniversary after you finish your training, or delay it altogether until it is more convenient for you, I will acquiesce to whatever you choose.

What I prefer is not particularly the question, Lucia. Unfortunately this mentor program requires that I spend individual time with each of the young Death Eaters under my care. If I am demonstrating the devotion the Dark Lord desires, it will hardly do for me to cancel the training for a personal reason.

Thursday evening we could have a late dinner and I will be yours after that for as late into the night as you desire. Friday, it is a day later, I realise but we could have an early dinner at a nice restaurant and go to a performance, or a concert, or simply come home and spend the evening in our chambers.

I recognise neither may be the preferred option, but some sacrifices must be made. With Friday, we have the benefit of me having had an extra day to heal, but I want you to enjoy your anniversary.

Do you truly wish to know what I prefer?

Clearly it is too late for the observation of my preference that my husband would remember our anniversary and refrain from scheduling a training session on it in the first place. It seems that it is evidently out of the question for you to reschedule your training session, though I don't see how it is disloyal to do it a day earlier or a day later or even simply earlier in the afternoon.

In light of that, Friday will suffice. Sacrifices, as you say, must be made.

And it is not my anniversary. It is ours, Patrice. It is supposed to be a celebration of our marriage. I realize that you have many obligations and commitments and that what you do is very, very important. Perhaps it is selfish of me to make such demands, and perhaps I am speaking too freely, but I think that our marriage is important as well.

I did remember our anniversary Lucia, which is why I suggested a late dinner. Be thankful perhaps that despite the fact that I am in a great deal of pain right now I remembered and was thinking ahead to make those plans.

Furthermore, although your questions are impertinent at best and absolutely out of line at worst, I did not schedule a training session on our anniversary specifically. The training sessions were scheduled on a weekly basis over a week ago. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings from 7 to around 9, and Saturday afternoon with the group of them. It may not be convenient to you, but I did not schedule them to annoy or anger you. If anything, I left Friday open because I assumed it would be the most likely evening for us to go out should we desire to do so.

If Friday is such an inconvenience perhaps we should forget the entire celebration altogether. It seems neither of us feel particularly celebratory at the moment.

My birthday falls on the following Wednesday. Does that mean--

Of course. My apologies. I should not have

Forgive me.

Gris should be in presently with your tea and salve. If you'll excuse me, I think I will retire for the evening.
