Vigilantes.

I am beginning to wonder if we have them. Thus far in my conversations with the Lestranges following the dreadful incident at the Library we have come up with the names of the Prewetts and a woman named Dorcas Meadowes. Regulus Black has informed that he was fighting a civilian and Rabastan has informed me that he was fighting someone who did not use magic - he suggested a vampire as a possibility as the man moved too quickly to be a squib. Lucius has told me that he noticed any number of civilians jumping into duels from his vantage point during the Masquerade.

Have others reported that they were duelling civilians and do any of them have thoughts as to identities?

There were civilians fighting at King's Cross as well and this is moving beyond the realm of what I suspect is coincidence. Thoughts?

[Added ward to Death Eaters]
I am aware that some of you have already discussed this with your mentors, but if you have not already done so, I would like to know which among us were fighting someone other than an Auror or a Hitwizard at the Masquerade.

And frankly, if you were not fighting DMLE at King's Cross and you remember that, I'd like to know that as well.

It does seem like a possibility. Severus reported fighting two civilians, one who concentrated on defensive and one who kept trying to stun him. He was unable to identify his attackers though.

I fought an Auror myself, Alastor Moody to be precise, but the number of civilians fighting is rather suspicious.

I was fighting an Auror as well, Edgar Bones, but clearly there were civilians fighting and while I could see a few - it just something about it does not set right. Perhaps we should find out if any others were fighting civilians?

I think it's certainly possible. A few reckless civilians, that's to be expected but I can't quite accept this is no more than a bizarre rash of courageous, foolhardy individuals risking their own necks. I fought two civilians, a Ministry witch and another man. Wilkes mentioned something about a civilian she fought, she found her noticeably skilled.

Prewett. There are two of them, Gideon & Fabian I think. Dorcas Meadowes. That's three identified.

We then have Severus who was fighting two different civilians. Black and Wilkes fighting civilians, you fighting three civilians? Rabastan fighting a non-magical civilian, most likely a vampire.

Even if we assume that the three listed above are cross listed with those we've just discussed, there are five unaccounted for. Do we have any idea how many non-DMLE were fought at King's Cross?

A minimum of eight plus the possibility of more?

I think that takes this beyond coincidence.

I'm opening this to the full group. I want to know how many of us were fighting non-DMLE personnel at the masquerade and how many at King's Cross.

I already mentioned to Mr Avery that I fought a civilian Saturday, a tall and slender woman that I was unable to identify. At King's Cross, Rabastan and I had fought an Auror and a civilian (a red head woman, this time).

The detail is good, Olivia, thank you. A tall and slender woman, and a red headed one. I presume these were not the same women?

They were two different women, indeed. The red-head wasn't as tall, and while I'm not 100% sure because of the costume and mask, the woman at the ball wasn't a red-head - more likely a brunette, I think.

Thorfinn Rowle has just reported to me by owl that he fought Aberforth Dumbledore. The man wasn't wearing a mask and Rowle apparently frequents the Hog's Head on occasion so he was able to recognise him.

[Inner Circle]
Why he felt the need to report this to me and not Julian is beyond me but I suppose we can let it go this time.

Dumbledore. What do we know of this particular Dumbledore other than his occupation? He is the one that was discussion goats and wool not that long ago, was he not?

I can't say that I know for certain. I see the words 'goats' and 'wool' and move on to the next entry in my journal. I suppose I will have to stop and pay attention next time.

So Prewetts, Dorcas Meadowes, Aberforth Dumbledore. That's four. Assuming they are working together. Considering the stance that Albus Dumbledore takes on these things, it would not surprise me terribly if the brother simply jumped into the fight.

Hmm, yes, he is rather of a different generation to the others. Though if we are talking a vigilante group then age becomes something of a non-issue, much as it does among us.

If they are part of a vigilante group, would that put Dumbledore among the leaders? That, of course, does make the assumption that they follow a similar pattern that we do and I am always loathe to make too many assumptions.

Ideals do not necessarily have a generation. Although inexperienced, young Barty Crouch strikes me as being as devoted to the Dark Lord as our generation is. Still - as you say I am hesitant to make too many assumptions. I believe it would be prudent to gather as much information as we can about whom among the civilians have been fighting. Then, we can begin to gather more information and put pieces together.

As of yet we have not even completely concluded - outside of what I think we all feel as a hunch - that it is more than a coincidence of very brave civilians. Although I feel as if the fact that there were three non-civilians at the Library does strongly support that it is not a coincidence.

How does the old saying go? Once is chance, twice is coincidence, three times is a conspiracy.

Right now we stand at coincidence. I am reluctant to wait for a third time to determine if there is a conspiracy. I am tempted to suggest manufacturing a third time to see who responds and how though that is merely an idle thought and nothing more at this point in time.

Possible. Though tall, slender brunettes are not completely uncommon.

If it is true we have a very interesting connection.

Commonality of tall, slender brunettes that jump in to duels with Death Eaters?

They could be two different women, it's true, and without further descriptions I don't think we can say affirmatively that it is the same woman, which would be why it falls under the category of pure speculation.

True that does narrow the field. A shame she was not considerably short. She might be somewhat easier to identify.

At the masquerade, I faced a blonde woman in a Valkyrie costume who was inordinately concerned with shielding civilians. At King's Cross, my father and I faced Kenneth McKinnon and a very tall brunette woman who is likely a capable civilian.

My father is stabilised; the Healer expects him to be back on his feet within one or two weeks -- he intends to postpone group training until then, and instructs us to duel amongst ourselves in the meantime. My apologies for writing so rashly on the night of the masquerade.

My experience was eerily similar to Rosier's. Male, not DMLE, dressed as Loki. Too far away to get a decent description, but this bastard was fast. More interested in keeping civilians around him safe than himself. Definitely a St Mungo's case by the time I was done.

He should make it out. I wasn't about to disobey orders and do anything too permanent. Entrailing Expelling Curse and a bit of blood boiling, so it ought to keep him sore for a while. Duelling style, by the way, was - as I've mentioned - fucking very fast. Rapid fire stunners and not much else. Hit me with something at the start, but I'd say it was only a Pummelling Hex. Simple stuff. And he was a real damn comedian.

I don't think we should rule it out. See what the others come back with, but two civilians fighting back with a common costume theme? Something about it is off.

I have just read Hector's latest comment. Very interesting. Matching costumes. So simple that none of us considered it. If we had a Valkyrie and Loki fighting us, were there any other Norse gods?

Also peruse the journal entry by James Potter. It appears he is injured. Either he was an extremely unlucky bystander or we may add his name to our list. He has a wife, does he not? A Mudblood if I recall. Perhaps we must consider her as well?

Perhaps we should ask Lucius. He would have had a better view of the entire ballroom than most of us who were fighting did.

A Mudblood for a wife puts him firmly under the list of blood traitor.

So, confirmed identities fighting against us in some form or another:
Aberforth Dumbledore
Gideon & Fabian Prewett
Dorcas Meadowes

Possibile identities:
James Potter & his mudblood wife. I don't suppose we can get a name for her?

That's six possibilities. At what point do we confirm that is non-coincidental?

I have spoken to Severus. He describes Lily Potter as a slender red head with green eyes who is a touch shorter than himself. She is indeed a Mudblood so I think we may tentatively label both her and her husband among these purported vigilantes.

He also reports that one of the civilians he fought at the masquerade was dressed as Sherlock Holmes. He also fought an Auror and a civilian at Kings Cross.
