Finally, Hogsmeade weekend coming up, and I jut can't wait!

Then best day ever! Then Hallowe'en!

So. Excited!

[Private Zach]
Darling, any plans for Hogsmeade?

[Private: Girl friends]
Shopping on Saturday? Then drinks in the Three Broomsticks?

[Private]
This sort of thing makes me really glad that I don't have kids, and that if I do they'll be pure.

It's awful, and okay that's mean, but still.

Poor kids though, I mean it's one thing for adults, and those who are fighting themselves. The kidnapping
I dunno. I can't see daddy promoting such measures.

Fantastic! I could use a few hours to take my mind off the castle, it's so stifling sometimes!

I'm rather warming to the castle this term, but I tell you what, NOTHING is going to spoil my Halloween. We'll make whatever the school does brilliant, and I think we should perhaps pick up a few things in Hogsmeade to have a bit of a party in Slytherin as well. What do you think?

Of course you're warming up to it, you're Head Girl!

No, Hallowe'en is going to be AMAZING!

Oh! Oh! We should have a massive party! Are we doing anything school-wide? Either way, you're right, a Slytherin party is definitely in order, but we're inviting Zach, he doesn't get nearly enough time with my friends and he needs to see how amazing and brilliant you lot are.

You know, I'm not sure if anything is happening apart from the Feast. I'll check with Zach and see if he knows anything. It can't be that hard to throw something together, even if it's something casual like moving the house tables and putting a gramophone in the corner for dancing.

I'm sure he'll feel obliged to do something with the Hufflepuffs at some point, if they're having a party, but as Slytherin's first Head Girl in a long time, I officially give permission for him to come into our common room. Perk of the job, you know.

No, but if you are going to do that, surely we can throw a few decorations up, for the little ones, charm the ceiling, make it a bit fun. Not as nice as a party in the common room, of course, but some houses just haven't the party planning abilities we do.

Wicked! You're the best! I'll check with him, but even if they do have something planned in Hufflepuff, surely he can stop by for an hour or so. Then again, he might not want to leave.

There will already be some decorations up for the feast, I think. Pumpkins, lights and so on. I'll add it to my list of things to check. If we can appropriate some of the feast decorations for a whole school dance, then that will make our job easier. And to save the effort being wasted, I'll see if we can bring some of the decorations down to Slytherin afterwards to jolly the place up a bit.

He'll want to spend some time with you on home turf, as it were, I'm sure.

Oh yes, that makes sense. I have always loved the pumpkin lights at the feast. Let me know if you need any help with the setup, and bringing them after to Slytherin would be perfect. I'm sure an after party would be ideal.

Probably, it's about time he got to know you lot better. Well, you know him already, but the rest of my friends.

I have an idea - we could bring it up in plenty of time, so that the other houses don't complain about us taking everything, and split everything between all the houses that want to use them. Once we have what we want, we can always conjure a few more bits and pieces until we have the common room perfect. You can help with taking charge of that, if you like? You have a good eye for that sort of thing.

We could even sell it to the staff as being good for school morale, and if it goes well, we could even have more parties and opportunities for dancing. I definitely like that idea.

Naturally. Well, you just need a prefect's say so to invite in students from other houses, so he's welcome. And your sister, of course, if you'd like to invite her as well. Any more non-Slytherins we can think of?

That's a lovely idea, and then they can't complain about it. I'll be happy to take charge for Slytherin. Do you want to bring it up for the other houses?

That's even better! I'm sure we can convince them that it'd help us all get along with one another. As Head Girl, it'd sound even better coming from you, and we can angle for more approved parties.

Of course, I should ask her, though she should be able to read this. Either way, I'd like her to come, if she wants. Not sure who else, the other houses tend to ignore us. Do you have anyone outside Slytherin you talk to regularly?

I know, I and one or two of the prefects could marshal the troops in the Great Hall, and get them to carry or levitate things down to the common room, and then you could take over when they get there and direct operations. That way, there's someone who knows what they're doing on both ends. And I'll put it onto the to-do list for once we've got the OK for it.

Something in the Great Hall for whole school mixing, and then closer, inter-house stuff for bonding, or something. That could work. And there are all sorts of reasons we could use to justify further parties if things go well with this!

Oh yes, of course. That was silly of me to forget, but naturally, it would be good to ask her properly rather than assume. As for me, I can't think of anyone off the top of my head, but there's time, yet.

That sounds perfect. We can use some of the younger years to help with the grunt work whilst the place is made pretty. Brilliant, just let me know when it's been approved.

Yes, I think that'll do. Maybe some fancier words, but I'm sure it'll sound more suitable, than we just want to dance. I know! I'm, just we can make a list of all the holidays for which we should have parties, and we can make them official!

I'll bring it up next time I see her, assuming's probably not the best idea. Of course, we have most of the month, and we can worry about who to invite later.

Great stuff. I'll keep you in the loop.

You know, even the dancing can be dressed up to sound beneficial. It's exercise, etc etc. There aren't many opportunities at Hogwarts for physical activity unless you play Quidditch, etc etc. And that's a good idea. We could even have some random theme events, just because, to make them sound educational. Theme a party after a country as an excuse to serve nice food, and so on.

Yes, true. At least the idea's in the air now, and that way we can refine it as we go along. Hogsmeade might even be a good source of inspiration.

That's very true. I'm sure some could really benefit from more exercise, and dancing is perfect for that. I quite like that idea! We should do an interntional night, every month or more, have an Italy night, France. Maybe even a history night. The fun, dressy bit not the boring bits.

Yes! Hogsmeade will be perfect inspiration.

I'm not even kidding, Josie, we are actual geniuses. When we leave Hogwarts they should put up statues to us in the Entrance Hall, or something.

We so are! Yes, they should, we'd be loads better looking than what they have now, and really it would benefit the school! Our amazingness aside, I think it's be fan! Oh I so desperately want to have a costume party now! Imagine Greek goddesses or Tudor princesses. What fun!

People don't realise that it's actually rather difficult, do they? I mean, it's not just about parties. Mother does her own organisation for Father's business meetings and fancy dinners at home, and it takes her ages. You need a good brain for problem solving and organisation!

No, of course they don't. They just think it's so very easy to coordinate everything, find the right venues, decoration, style. You have to have much more than an eye and know loads if people. So complicated. Even worse in the common room, was such a nightmare trying to get everything organised for the Slytherin birthday month last year. The parties are the most fun, of course, but there are conferences, and other things that need planning as well.

And as if important people like the Ministry high-ups are going to have the time to do it themselves! They have other things to do, like running the country.

Honestly, I'm amazed no-one's thought of a high-profile event business before. You'd need chefs, seamstresses, cleaners and musicians to get hold of, as well as dogsbodies to do the grunt work. It's a great idea, all those people who could be employed by the same place! There's something very neat about the idea, too.

Of course they haven't! Even those press conferences have to be organised properly, though I suppose that falls onto some of the lower staff.

As am I. I know we're a small community but there are so many galas, events and top-level events each year, that you'd think someone would be prepared to manage those sort of situations. You're right! Having the network would be fantastic, and would give all of those people who usually have just the one-off or occasional events a more constant stream of work. Plus, I bet the top caterers, chefs would be delighted by the press!

Yes, I would image it's co-ordinated by the Minister's office and the Prophet, or something. But if there were to be meet and greet sort of events, that could be different. Especially at campaigning time now we're having elections for the post!

It's all sounding more and more like a good idea the more I think on it, you know...

It likely is, but yes the lengthier events, and I imagine some of the visiting dignitary events require more elaborate planning. Oh! I bet the campaigns will be big deals!

Of course it does. It's a fantastic idea.
