History: Petunia is the oldest child of the Evans family and was the only child for almost two years before her younger sister Lily was born in 1960. Petunia loved her baby sister and the two were the best of friends. However, that all changed when Lily began to display magical abilities and began hanging around with another, equally as strange child, Severus Snape. Deep down, Petunia was envious of her sister; she was special while Petunia was simply ordinary. When Lily was accepted into Hogwarts School of Magic, Petunia wrote a letter to Albus Dumbledore, the Headmaster, asking if she too could attend Hogwarts. Although he replied kindly, she felt abandoned and betrayed when Lily left and when her sister came back that summer things were never the same between the sisters. Petunia constantly looked down her nose at anything Lily did, often calling her a freak and criticized the things she said about the magical world that she now belonged to.
After school, Petunia went to London to take a typing course, which in turn got her a job in an office, which was where she met Vernon Dursley who was a junior executive at the time. It was the fact that he was completely ordinary that Petunia found appealing despite his narrow views on the world. The two went on a number of dates before Vernon proposed in 1977, in his mother's house and of course Petunia accepted despite worrying what Vernon, who was incredibly ordinary, would think of Lily when he inevitably met her, which he did along with Lily's boyfriend James Potter shortly after. Of course this meeting didn't go well at all and by the end of the night, Vernon assumed that James was unemployed and became incredibly angry when James attempted to explain his family's fortune and the evening ended with Lily in tears.
Petunia and Vernon were married before the end of 1977 and moved to 4 Privet Drive in Little Whinging. Despite Lily being her sister, Petunia refused to make Lily a bridesmaid and Vernon would not speak to James, which upset the younger couple; especially when Vernon referred to James as Some Magician when he was nearby. After the wedding, Petunia had very little contact with Lily and her and Vernon chose not to attend The Potters' wedding.
Petunia and Vernon welcomed a son, Dudley, shortly before Lily and James had their own child. However, Petunia threw out the birth announcement and with the exception of a vase that she sent to Lily for Christmas in 1980, Petunia had no more contact with her sister until the morning of November 1st, 1981 when, going to get the newspaper, Petunia and Vernon found their nephew, Lily and James' son, on their doorstep and learned of the deaths of her sister and brother-in-law.

Personality: Petunia is a very nosy women who enjoys gossip of any kind so long as it is not about her and her family. She strives to be completely ordinary as a result of her sister being a witch and her own rejection by Albus Dumbledore when she begged him to accept her as well at Hogwarts. This led her to become extremely hateful towards magic and anyone who possesed the ability to do magic, even her own sister, often calling her a freak. The hurt and abandonment she felt after her sister left for Hogwarts led to the strained relationship the sisters had for the next ten years or so. Deep down she regrets the way she treated her sister while she was alive and now that it is too late, she must make it up to her by caring for her nephew, despite the fear that he will grow up to be exactly like his parents and bring unwanted gossip upon the Dursleys household. She dotes upon her own son, filling his bedroom with all the toys and games a child could want, despite the fact that he is only a year old.
Secretly she does regret the fact that she was not born with magical abilities like her sister, but for fear of also being called a freak, she would never dare to speak this regret outloud; especially not to Vernon, whose narrow views on the world would surely case him to look down on her if he knew.
Appearance: Petunia is tall and skinny with strawberry blond hair and blue eyes. She is described as being somewhat horsefaced.
