Even if the world ended tomorrow, I would still plant my apple tree.

I sincerely can not wait until winter is done and over with. It's been cold far too long for my liking. And I can only research so many plants during this time. It's a bit depressing. Maybe I'll owl the lab and see if they need any extra help until Spring arrives.

My brother, David wrote to me and said he might come down and visit soon if he gets the time off. I hope so. That would be splendid. He needs the relaxation time and Veritas is certainly perfect for that.

Is anyone free for lunch? I could do with some company today. I have this itch to get out and about.

The holidays were wonderfully spent with family. I hope everyone else had a fun family holiday as well! It was so good seeing Mum and Dad and even John and David; no matter how much of a pain they give me. Dad brought me back a plant from South America! I'm so pleased. It's a Vriesea, and looks a bit like a lone phoenix feather sprouting from a plant right now. I can't wait until it grows more foliage. I also hope Mitts doesn't take to it as a new cat toy as he usually does...

Well, I think after a long day of travelling, it would be good to settle down with a nice cup of tea. Oh! Terry, whenever you're back, I do owe you a cup of tea - See, I didn't forget!

I made it home just in time for the holidays looming around the corner! The expedition was a walk in the park (pun not intended..there really wasn't a park... it being a forest and all). The party consisted of me and two others, one being a very knowledgeable Herbologist. His name was David Thorne, and he was simply amazing. I've met many a Herbologist in my field of work, but he was honestly so nice and not as disconnected as others have come across. I was blown away by his knowledge of not only the plant we transported, a MageRoyal, which was for his own laboratory back in Scotland, but the range of his intellect regarding the intricate veins of various plant life.

He even lent me his personal copy of his book (He wrote a book) and said I could keep it. I don't know how I've not even heard of it. It was terribly embarrassing to admit. He was a welcoming joy to speak with, really down to earth (terrible pun aside) and he made me feel like more of a colleague of his than an assigned lab worker.

Any hoo, I'm terribly pleased to be home. I'm going to send an owl to mum that I'll be able to make the family gathering for the holidays. I can't wait to tell Daddy about the expeditions.

I received a letter the other day from work informing me to return on-field next Saturday. It's supposedly only a two week expedition and I'll just be needed for the extraction and transportation. It'll be good to get out and I've been itching to get some more exploration done. I should be back in time for the holidays but I'll do a quick run for gifts before I go. I know, I'm terrible at being on top of things other than work but I'll try to make sure the gifts are sensible.

Today, I received a package by owl. I know, I know, not too much out of the ordinary. Inside it was a plant, a Desmodium gyrans to be exact, or rather The Dancing Plant since I know I'll be asked what it means. I thought it was from work and they wanted me to conduct some experiments on it, but there was no letter, no proper forms from the lab or anything regarding such- just a small note, but no name or return address.

It says 'The mysterious way this plant moves mimics the way of how you make my own heart dance.'

I'm rather disturbed.

I've tested it for hexes, curses or anything of the sort. I've even tested it's pH levels and everything is reading normal and clear. It's just a plant froman admirer? someone and I'm sure sooner or later I'll discover who.

But it is a rather charming little plant..

Not that I don't love my job, but after several weeks of trekking down and locating this plant Angar's Tongue, which actually turned out to be surprisingly more sticky than anticipated, I am ready to go home and just enjoy a nice, long, hot bath.

Samples are all readily packed and preserved, so as soon as the rest of the expedition team gets going and gets these back to the lab, I'm home free!

Speaking of home - Serena, I do hope everything's gone well since I've been gone. It wasn't supposed to be quite this long, but the navigator made us take one wrong turn and well, we weren't terribly pleased about it either.
