It's funny how life will keep going with or without you. Something happens, and it's like hitting a wall, and you sort of feel like you can't move forward.

Lately, I've felt stuck, and confused, and a whole mess of other emotions (angry being a big one). And yet, the world has kept turning, and suddenly I feel like I'm miles behind. Why is it that I feel like I'm the only one appropriately stunned? It almost makes me angry to see people so light-hearted and happy, like nothing has happened at all.

Private to Lindsay
Xi Wang's health has declined.
/

Private to Meaghan
What time are we meeting? I really, really need some kittens in my life right now.
/

This is easily the most pathetic thing I've ever written. Forgive my mopey-ness.

Oh, I'd say everyone's entitled to a bit of moping.

[Charlie]
How's your brother doing? Better, I hope.

Doesn't seem that way.

[Rolf]
He is better. Maybe a little too better. In the rush of things, he decided to get married.

Ah, don't feel that way. Everyone hits a low point.

[Charlie]
What?! To who?

I suppose. I just feel like my family people are angry at me for feeling down.

[Rolf]
Nymphadora Tonks.

How familiar are you with dragon health?

That's ridiculous. I've only met them cursorily, but I can't imagine that a family as loving as yours would be that way to you.

[Charlie]
Merlin. I would not have seen that coming. Wasn't he seeing a French girl, or something?

Dragon health...hm. Well, it's far from my specialty, but I'm probably more well-versed than your average wizard. What's going on?

There's a good chance it's all in my head. I just feel like I'm taking this all a lot harder than they are.

[Rolf]
I thought so. One day he told me he liked the French girl, a lot. Then... all of a sudden he was with Tonks.

I know you're way more well-versed, which is why I ask. You've heard about the epidemic within Dragon new-borns? Many are stillborn, and others die shortly after birth. A Chinese Fireball was recently born and seemed in good health, but she is now rapidly declining. A newborn dragon hasn't survived in over two years.

If you keep beating yourself up like this, I'm going to be forced to drastic action. I don't know what it would be, but right now I think it would involve me sending you lots of food.

[Charlie]
Weird. I guess romantic entanglements don't always make the most sense. Well, as long as he's happy, that's what matters, right?

Ah, yeah, I'd been following that while I was away. How old is the newborn currently? What have her symptoms been?

As long as it is chocolate food.

[Rolf]
No, they certainly don't. And don't get me wrong, I'm glad that he's happy. I'm just worried he's rushing, and that it's just a temporary distraction from the problem.

She's barely even a month old. She has been losing weight rapidly, her eyesight seems to be failing, and in general her strength is down instead of up, like it should be.

I think that could be easily arranged.

[Charlie]
It certainly does seem like a rush. I certainly can't speculate what was going through his mind, but I'm sure he knows what he's doing.

When did this start? Have there been any changes in her living conditions?

I wouldn't put it past you.

[Rolf]
I'm sure he does. Just that it all happened immediately after the attack... makes me uncomfortable. I mean, I'm his brother. It's my job to be skeptical and to have his best interests in mind.

She was smaller than average when born, but she seemed stable. At about two weeks, her health seemed to steadily decline.

Expect a chocolate-bearing hour within the hour.

[Charlie]
With all this going on I can't blame you for being so out of sorts, mate. I'm assuming these observations are being made on the dragon in its natural habitat. Ordinarily I'm not much for taking animals into captivity, but in a case like this one, have you or any of your peers been considering removing the dragon from the wild and attempting rehabilitation elsewhere? It's drastic and may just aggravate the situation, but it seems that sometimes it's a measure that needs to be taken.
